Wedding Woes

Wednesday

I had to type Wednesday way too many times to get it right. Definitely feels like it should be later in the week. What's up with everyone?

Re: Wednesday

  • That’s great @Casadena, about the baby.  I rarely hear of people having girls lately.  I was kinda worried in a couple of years there would be a shortage.

i had a regular check up today and my doctor informed me that they lowered the colonoscopy age to 45 so she’ll put one in for me next visit after it’s official.  Of course I want it, given what happened to my SIL, but since it didn’t run in the family, I always toyed with the idea of colon guard.
As of yesterday, I didn’t think it ran in the family but my mom told me my uncle’s surgery last week WAS for colon cancer.  They said he had to get some intestine removed but failed to tell me it was cancer and that’s why. Doctor said my first go around could still be colon guard but now I’m wondering if I should get it done done?
@levioosa, this is your wheelhouse lol

  • @CharmedPam my primary care also advised me a year or so ago that the new age for colonoscopies is 45.  DH had one at 21 to rule out crohn's (why I still think that he may also have IBD due to the issues) but he hasn't had one since.

It's a giggle at our dining room table that next year 3 out of the 4 of us will have them.  Chiquita's GI doc wants her to have a follow up so they can see what course her IBD is taking and see if she's in clinical remission.  I don't have a family history of colon cancer but with everything that we've faced in the last year, I'm taking the approach of what is the safest and most reliable way to know I'm in the clear.

I do have ladies in my book club who have never had a colonoscopy and opted for colonguard but I think I'd still be nervous if the option was presented to me.

  • I feel the same way about my standing desk @Casadena. I love it but I feel like my butt is in peoples faces because our walls are low.
  • J is 12 weeks! It’s gone by so fast. It’s weird to think that under our old policy I’d be back at work but now I still have 8 more weeks of leave!

My team is throwing a bank wide two day event so I’m taking J to it this afternoon!
20 weeks is really great, i'm so glad you have that time!

We changed our policy in between M and J- for an I had 12 weeks. Now we can take our 12 employer weeks anytime so we can take it after we use our short term disability leave. So I did 8 weeks STD and then our 12!

Sorry for the recent work stress and friend stuff that’s been bringing you down @VarunaTT
    Happy 12 weeks baby J!
@CharmedPam I’d get the colonoscopy (though I’ll admit I haven’t heard of colon guard)

Kind of coasting through (Wednesday is a pretty light day as far as second shift) but I too thought it was already Thursday, and not bc of the bonus Prudies ;) just tired I guess.
  • Colonoscopies at 45?  Okay.  I guess I'm 5 years late then.  I know my H has never had one and he's almost 10 years older than me (59).  I'll add it to our to-do list.

It was such a hard day at work yesterday that I'm having a lot of trouble being motivated today.  I'm going to take a nap for lunch and then try to regroup.  @mrsconn23, thanks for the bonus Prudie!

  • That’s super good info @VarunaTT, I’ll just get ‘er done the old fashioned way.

  • @levioosa, yay Alaska!  And even sooner, yay Grand Canyon!  You can wear a heavy coat until right before you get to the hot tub.  Cold weather and hot tubs* go together.  But I hear ya!  I'm a hot house flower myself.

I'm sorry things are even more tense with your SIL.  I hope this can open some dialog to make things better, but I know it doesn't always work that way.

*I've already told my H that a major consideration for when we buy a house in Cincy is backyard outdoor space to put in a hot tub.

  • @VarunaTT is it Shrek the Musical?

OOh I love that!  Chiquita did the Jr version last year and was one of the piggies.
  • @CharmedPam and @banana468 Yes, it is.  It's not my usual fare, but the theatre put the tickets on sale for $29 for Leap Day and I was able to get the box seats that have terrible sight lines but are the rolling chairs so we're not all up in each other's business, so I figured why not.  It's something to do.

I admit that I saw it as a middle school mom but I really love the message of that show.
