It's my half-day Friday and I'm rolling the dice I can park my car in front of my house when I get home. Jazz Fest starts at 11, but people start trolling for spots at about 10. I'll get home at 11:30. My H blocked off my street spot with our garbage cans and a sawhorse, but people will sometimes move them. Fingers crossed!
The whole weekend will be like house arrest because I can't move my car, lol. But that's okay. I'm more a homebody anyway and I need to get stuff done around the house.
Re: Friday
Anyway, I'm knocking off early this afternoon and we're going camping. I haven't slept in a tent since I was a girl scout, so this should be interesting. At least I've packed plenty of wine.
Hope you can park @short+sassy!
We have a dinner for a friend's daughter tonight. The rest of the weekend is pretty flexible.
DH found out yesterday that a friend of his moved back to our area. I know I've told stories about this guy being the worst houseguest I've ever encountered. He's a divisive person, to say the least. Apparently, he's getting divorced (you should see my shocked face). DH wants to have him over for dinner on Sunday. The weather will be gorgeous, and there's wine and edibles. And under no circumstances is he staying the night here. DH did try to 'soften' the request with the whole, "It's been a long time and maybe things have changed..." No, they haven't, but dinner is fine. I can tolerate a conversation or two and I can also disappear if I want. LOL
Furthermore, we have the kiddo, who's a project all on his own. I need no other ones.
@mrsconn23, hear you on a dinner but not a sleepover. Don’t do that to yourself!
@mrsconn23 you’re kinder than I am. I would be like “go out to dinner and have fun.” I too am just absolutely flabbergasted this man is now divorced.
@MyNameIsNot sending you good vibes!
@levioosa, the food is next level at Jazz Fest. Food vendors have to audition their food to get a spot. But it's serious cash for the lucky ones. Some of them clear 6-figures over the two long weekends. Most of them are small businesses.
French Quarter Festival is another good one in mid-April and is a free music festival. That festival has delicious food also, but a lot of those food booths are associated with local restaurants.
