Wednesday

This feels like the slowest week ever.

Re: Wednesday

  • Grandpa has his procedure tonight. Hopefully it goes okay. I talked to him last night and he seemed in better spirits which is good at least.

I am pretty tired and hoping the coffee kicks in too. I was just a Bitter Betty all day yesterday. Otherwise not too much else has changed.

I got a sample of some new face stuff and I'm sad to report I think I like it. I also started using a new eye gel to see if it helps and, tragically, it is working very well. It's super expensive but ugh I can actually see a difference when I use it.

  • @Casadena, crossing my fingers for you this is the start of many nights where N sleeps all the way through.  LMAO at rocks and a stick in your work bag.

I got the renewal for my homeowner's insurance a few weeks ago.  Here's the increases from the last two years:

$4600-->$7600-->$11,700 (current renewal).  That's for $355K in coverage, which really isn't enough for replacement cost but they "insist" it is and wouldn't even offer more insurance.

You can fuck right off with that, Burns and Wilcox.  Since I have a new roof, there are more companies who might cover me, so I shopped around.  Found a new policy for $6300 for $490K in coverage.  Almost half the price for more coverage.  Phew!

My blood sugar was a bit low this morning, so I decided to have ice cream for breakfast.  Such a rare treat.  So fun!

  • Or an aunt @Casadena.  I carried a lego man, a small toy pizza box and a car in my purse for 6 months because my other sister (also a mom) intercepted some toys from my nephew as he was holding them going into the science center.

Is this for dark circles? I can’t find anything that really works. I have something from Rodan & Fields that says it does, so we’ll see.  I have a love/hate relationship with stuff I actually like too! Lol.  Actually those mushroom gummies you recommended should arrive tomorrow so maybe dark circles will be a thing of the past? I also got the day time focus one.

@short+sassy, that price increase is insane.  I hope Ohio treats you well in that respect.

I may or may not have just bought some ice bracelets from Touchstone because the consultant did a double ticket raffle bonus and there’s a good chance I could win a fourth bracelet for free.  I’m typically not a bracelet person but I also said that about necklaces and now I’m wearing those almost daily.  So, here’s hoping my wrists get the same love. They’re pretty though and I notice them on every one who wears them and always wanted a few.

Don't want/but really do want the eye cream rec @levioosa...and I'm sorry about all of your stress surrounding your grandfather/brother/work.  Hope grandpa is feeling better

Yesterday ended up being bsc, but it's all smoothed out for the most part.  Agree casadena that the week has felt slow.  I definitely have a weekly "every Wednesday feels like it should be Thursday" syndrome.

I also have Wednesday that feels like it should be Thursday. Also Wednesday are my hard days because H has softball and bedtime with both boys is nearly impossible.

Woke up with an upset tummy and I’ve spent the day begging the universe for it not to get worse. Thankfully I’m WFH after two days in the office.
  • Ugh, how is it only Wednesday? I'm dealing with some BS political crap at work that makes me want to scream. I think some teams spend more time fighting about doing work than actually doing any work. It's infuriating.

Nothing much else going on. I decided last minute to go to Louisville this weekend to visit my grandma and tack on a "hookie" day Monday for a friend's birthday. I think we're going to go hang gliding. I'm already scared.
  • @CharmedPam @ ei34 I'm gonna throw up if I end up loving this as much as I think I do. lol.

We got it on a sale for the low low price of $80. I'm so annoyed I like it so far. It's only been a few days so maybe wait until I've used it a month before the splurge. lol. I'm sad to report I think on a couple of facials they also used it with the PCA Ideal Eye Complex Cream and my under eyes looked fantastic. I struggle with some crepeiness (sp?) and fine lines as my biggest issues. I have gotten some filler for hollowing but only once (maybe twice?). Dark circles aren't a huge problem for me but when they are I just use a little peach/pink under eye corrector which does wonders.

    Congrats on the promotion! @banana468

  • Congrats on the promotion @banana468!

PSA about skincare, if you have an HSA/FSA, there is the HSA/FSA store that has lots of skincare options (like supergoop, coola, etc.) that you can use those spending dollars on tax-free and if you order enough stuff, it's free shipping.  You can also get all the good sunscreen as well.  I bought all my sunscreen for this summer from the HSA store.

Work this week is going better than I expected it to.  Lots of small wins and other stuff falling into place.  I'm just letting it vibe for now because there's always fuckery around the corner.  LOL

Also, did y'all see that part of the Teton Pass was taken out in a landslide this weekend? We drove that thing several times last summer getting from Idaho to Jackson Hole/the park.  It was 45min-an hour to go over the pass, now it's over 2 hours to go the long way.  Insanity.

SSDD otherwise.  It's getting HOT af out there and it won't be letting up for the next 2+ weeks.
  • Congrats @banana468!
very helpful @mrsconn23.  I may look into this!

    Let me know how yours goes @levioosa  .  I just bought this for my fine lines under the eyes;
    https://anteage.com/products/anteage%C2%AE-eye-15ml
It’s also a rec from Natasha Brinkmann, and I saw real good before and afters from the skincare line for the face.  But asides from the lines - some days I have dark circles and any concealer or color corrector just absorbs into my skin and it goes back to grey in an hour or so.
On Friday i got a session of tempsure for the eye area and it looked amazing! But the whole pkg was $1,200 after the intro of $97.  Once the “tightness” wore off, the lines came back so now I’m catching on that all the before/afters I saw were RIGHT when the procedure was done and it was extra tight from the gel and RF.  I’m glad I asked if I could wait before buying the next 3.

  • Thanks @CharmedPam. I am on the fence about radiofrequency given what I have heard about scar tissue making face lifts potentially more difficult in the future. I do want to try CO2 laser even though that scares me too. There's no way I'll ever do that crazy phenol peel though.

  • That’s interesting @levioosa, never heard that before. And I definitely want to get one of those in the future. My tempsure didn’t go too deep into the skin.  It was a nice warming sensation over any pain.  And not worth the average $400/session I researched.  I didn’t think too much was involved in the procedure and like I said I think the b&a’s I saw were right after the procedure and not over time.

I think the problems are more with the microneedling treatments with RF like the Morpheus. Morpheus also freaks me out, mostly because it seems like it is super painful. I've also seen people heal poorly from it and get the imprint marks permanently which would be super sad after spending so much money and time and pain on it. I've been trying the NuFace I got over Christmas. I've only been consistent with it maybe three weeks but I don't know if it's even doing anything. I took some before pictures but I think I'll have to use it for three more weeks before I can make a real judgment on it. It's also one of those things you have to keep using indefinitely or else the results fade.

My esthetician recommended nuface! Do you like it? I have something similar to it, it’s the face shaped device on tiktok that’s going viral and has a few LED color choices. I noticed a slight difference.  I’m trying to get rid of my jowels.  No filler or botox can help that area.  My esthetician said red light and microneedling to help that area.

I'll let you know in a couple of weeks. I've been trying to be really consistent with it. It says use 5 minutes a day for 6 weeks for results to start showing. I've been using it for about 20 minutes 5-6x a week for the past three weeks (max is 20 minutes a day) and I'm having a hard time seeing any real difference so far, but I want to give it the full 6-8 weeks to make a decision. It really is a pain to use it that much though. My nighttime routine is up to like 45 minutes with the red light attachment that comes with it (and that truly is a pain because it's a small area, and you have to hold it on each area for 3 minutes at a time). I'm trying to save up to buy a good red light mask but they're super expensive, especially because I want to get a neck attachment with it.

I keep going back and forth on microneedling. I had one done and I felt very "meh, I don't see a difference." The second one I did the person must have used way too much pressure. I can still see the track marks on my skin sometimes from where she used the pen. I was also bruised and bloody for like a week.

@levioosa thanks for passing along! I’m now considering it. I was just toying with a $300 neck cream so the $100 isn’t offending me the way it should lol. Hey, we only have one face ;)
  • I also have a super cool zit on the tip of my nose, (just in time for vacation and pics!) so I’m using the cyan light therapy on that.  I hope that works! I threw out my acne treatments years ago!
