Thursday

Gorgeous low 70s day here! All the windows are open and I love it :)

Re: Thursday

  • Today is N's 3rd birthday! I had to do a quick wash of his "Three Rex" tshirt this morning before school and he will just have the best day being the center of attention, lol. We gave him his big present last night and it was the cutest thing ever. He's obsessed with Hickory Dickory Dock - wants to watch/listen to the song constantly, will build clocks with block/magnetiles all the time and sing it for hours with his animals. So, H built him his own mini grandfather clock. It's so cool, about as tall as he is. He was just flabbergasted when we opened the garage to show him. So sweet.

Had a chiropractic appt this morning and my neck feels so much better. Trying to cram as much work in as possible in 2 hours, then a pilates class and target pickup. Finishing any work this afternoon but hoping to get it done this morning so i can clean/mow this afternoon.

H leaves tonight for Iowa to golf with some friends who started an annual fundraiser thing. Jealous i'm not going with but excited he's going to get a weekend away get to catch up with friends we haven't seen much since we moved to IL.

My parents are getting in super late tonight and they're going to help me paint our living room while the boys are at school tomorrow. My sister and her bf get in Monday night late and will be with us on and off for a few weeks. So we've got a busy few weeks coming up!
  • I'm so jealous. Our break today is down to the high 80s. But it's better than 100 yesterday, so I guess I'll take it.

Debate tonight and I'm uneasy about it. My company is fairly proactive about telling us to avoid the office and traffic when there's big events in the area, but they've been extremely cautious about this one and are even closing campus at noon. I'm a little worried that something ugly is going to happen. Anyway, I bought a bunch of wine and will be yelling at my tv or watching in horror.

I’m not watching it either. Nothing one (not naming names, but the one who’s a convicted felon) can say will change my mind. And I don’t find it entertaining or eye opening or anything else.  bracing myself to not be happy in November though, since it’s happened before. Stay safe @MyNameIsNot!
Happy 3rd bday N!! What a sweet gift!
Booked a library pass to our local children’s museum where the kids are currently playing in replicas of a Mongolian ger, Fijian bure and Malaysian stilt house. We’ll head to the town pool when they’re over it, and I put together chicken kebabs earlier which I’ll grill for dinner tonight.
  • Happy Birthday N!!! Can’t believe he’s 3 already!

We also have a nice break in the weather. Breezy and low 70s is about as perfect as we can get here. Busy day at work. Still hearing all about the exit of Big Deal Guy from yesterday. It was definitely not planned (and these almost always are) and it doesn’t seem like a health related thing so it’s still a big mystery which means rampant speculation. He’s also not old (like late 40s, *maybe* early 50s) so everyone is curious. His admin also left so, so many questions.

    Were he and the admin...close?

Years ago in DH's co there was an in flagrante delicto situation that was caught by a 3rd party on company grounds between two other employees.  I believe one was ultimately terminated and the other remains employed for reasons no one knows.
  • Happy Birthday N!

Finishing up my portion of a huge project we have at work.  I'll still be presenting 4 of 9 3-hours sessions, but the content is done.

My brother is building us a deck (he has a handyman business).  He didn't quite finish and will be back on Monday.  But we are enjoying it already.  Enough room to have 4 chairs and our grill.  I need to decide the best placement for a bird feeder since I had to take down the one on my office window.  DH spent about 3 hours out there yesterday.

I also bought a Cricut.  Does anyone have one?  I want to make cards and gifts.  I purchased from someone at work who bought it to use for wedding items.  She included lots of supplies as well for $75!  I haven't set it up yet as it's bigger than I thought and I need to find room in the office.

No big plans for the weekend.  It's a 3-day work week for me next week and I have a few days of PTO spread throughout July.

  • @MNNEBride I don't have one but the GS troop leader has one and she's used it for a ton of group T shirts.  For the trip last week we had matching t shirts Tues and Wed and they all had the same logo on them made by  her.  It's been VERY useful.
  • Happy Birthday N!!!  That sounds like an incredible gift.  He can wear his Three Rex shirt now.  Exciting day for him and so cute!

I probably won't watch the debates either.  Trump was in New Orleans last week for a fundraiser.  Fortunately, it was a WFH day for me so I didn't have to deal with whatever traffic stupidity that caused.

Bonus points for my H!  The dishwasher one of our rental units stopped filling with water.  It's actually the unit that's part of our personal duplex.  My H went over to check it out as soon as he got the text.  He was able to fix it without our having to call someone and pay big bucks.  Yes!

I'm on a more even keel at work today.  Feeling so much more productive, especially after yesterday's fiasco.

  • @banana468 I told my H the exact same thing this morning re: the debate. Nothing on this earth would make me vote for that convicted felon.

I had a chiro appointment this morning. Things are improving. Afterwards I had a training session at the Y. I need to pack for our short trip this weekend but have zero motivation. We also have a make up dance lesson this afternoon. That along with a Y board thing just takes up too much time today.

Happy Birthday to N!! Three is such a fun age -grandson #3 is 3 and he is hilarious.
  • Happy Birthday, N! That shirt sounds adorbs!
So happy the tests were clear @mrsconn23
See, @charlotte989875, that sounds scandalous to me! Lol.  Everyone sleeps with everyone in our office and blind eyes are just turned.  That’s IF that’s what happened in yours (but the math is mathing).

No debate for me, I actually have a play to go to tonight which i’m much more excited about. I’ll probably leave early for it.  Looks like the whole office is.
anyone know anything on the future of air conditioners?  Is it true that they’re going to have a new freon formula next year and really raise the prices of the units? If I get a new one this year, will the lack of the current freon formulas be a problem down the road? Ideas? Thoughts?

I've heard that, but don't know much about it.

With that said, I had a HVAC system in one of my rentals.  The previous owner had bought a cheap, poor quality system that even HVAC people had never heard of.

It broke and I got a quote on fixing or replacing it.  A repair could be done, but it was expensive.  The guy warned me they were discontinuing the freon it used the next year and I'd no longer be able to top it off (if needed).  I double-checked that just to make sure he wasn't lying to sway me on buying a new system.  But it was true.

That HVAC system was only about 12 years old, at the time!  And it was already some bullshit situation where I wouldn't be able to buy freon for it anymore.  Technically speaking, a properly working HVAC system doesn't need freon added to it.  But sometimes you can wring a few more years out of it, if a slow leak develops that is expensive to fix.

I decided to go with the "neither" option and put in window units instead.
