Friday?

Is anyone here?  I'm finishing out my training modules and then I guess I'll watch some TV while sitting at my computer, because I don't have anything else to do and my supervisor is out until Monday.  No big plans for the weekend, though I'm getting my mani/pedi.

I've got to figure out food.  I am just tired of dealing with it all. I wish there was a pill I could just take and it'd be everything I need and make me feel full.

Remember watching the Jetsons? They had a machine and you selected a meal and with a push of a button it would come out in pill form? If that could truly fill you up, I’m all for that Hanna Barbera.
Or am I making that whole scene up? Lol

Have a good rest of your work day! I’m also counting down the hours.  I sent out some emails already as proof that I worked - but it’s as busy as I expected it to be (and why take a day off for that?) I drove to the P’s and yesterday we had dinner at the bro’s. We heard fireworks but wont go out on the lake till tomorrow to see them.  I’m hoping my hotspot can extend out to the lake because I’ll bring the laptop out there to finish out the workday.  It actually worked before. It’s all about cell tower range, so keep your fingers crossed!

We had a nice holiday yesterday, but was nice for the kids to get back to camp and for me to work summer school today.

The last time we were at Barnes & Noble they begged for a Bluey cookbook, it’s full of recipes from the show. We’ve been working our way through it and today’s recipe is pavlova …not a dessert I’d usually gravitate towards (I’m a chocoholic) but always fun to try something new.

I’d love to hear how it goes!

(Also pavlova is one of our favorite episodes)
  • Varuna do you have meal delivery services in your area? Not the kind that you have to make but ones where someone cooks and brings it to your door every week (I’m realizing this now sounds like DoorDash).

We just started this; there’s a woman who cooks meals every week and delivers them on Monday. She releases a new menu Tuesday and you order by Thursday. There’s stuff she always has (steak/chicken/salmon with veggies and roasted potatoes) but then has new menu stuff each week. It’s so much cheaper than take out (which we were doing a lot of) but real, never frozen, food!

I have had that before, but the businesses never seem to last in my area.  I love them, but IDK why they don't last here.

That’s a bummer, I love ours! It’s so much more convenient especially now that I’m dairy and soy free for the baby. I hate having to think of what to cook or look up recipes. I just give up.
  • My friends rave about factor, but I can’t bring myself to spend the $.

@charlotte989875 it came out good! There were some substitutions (the pavlova base is just a yellow cake 😝 whole thing is basically a cake with fresh whipped topping, but the kids were proud of it and are enjoying, which is what matters). Here’s a cut-into cake pic, plus the recipe- I know you’re currently dairy free, but maybe for the future. I love the episode too and the recipe has lots of joking about no edamame or tomato sauce

Factor did have tasty food, but it was too expensive for my tastes.  It was also more of a stop gap because it wasn't an every meal thing.

I think the heat is having an effect on my appetite itself, but being single means I do all the planning, shopping, cooking and cleaning and it's just a damn chore that I'm sick of doing.  I've automized as much as I can (I use a planner that makes the grocery list, then I have my groceries delivered), but I'm just tired of doing it all the time.  I also can't just live on the "I don't feel like doing this" food all the time.  :D  I'll get though it; it's just kinda the last thing I haven't been able to find a balance in being single and chores.
  • I'll have to look for that book for my grandsons. They LOVE Bluey. I've only had Pavlova once and it was a meringue. Maybe there are different kinds?

Not much going on. Worked out this morning. Then after lunch we bought wine today to donate to our Y's fundraiser (it is for a wine pull). He cooked chicken saltimbucca for dinner. It was pretty good. We have a ton of sage in our garden so he wanted a recipe that would use fresh sage. I got some laundry done. Other than that just watching some TV and scrolling.
  • @VarunaTT, I just had this convo the other day.  My fridge is empty and cabinets bare.  I make three meals a week and that’s pretty much it.  I think the difference between being single and “fending for yourself” is if you don’t feel like cooking or even eating, you have no one else who has a say in it.  Eat some cheese and crackers? Sure! A protein bar? Why not? But if you had a SO and for sure kids, you’re obligated to make sure they’re fed.  Well, the kids part anyway.  My SO could always fend for himself (but I wanted to make sure he had food).

Glad it’s a good time @levioosa! All that wildlife you saw - was it from the ship and just from walking around (obviously not bears from the ship lol)? or did you have to pay for it?  We saw whales and sea otters from the ship. And that was hearsay.  I didn’t actually see them.  Smokers smoking on the designated decks don’t miss out! But I felt if I wanted to see any wildlife I had to fork over the dough.

  • @CharmedPam from the boat we saw (personally) whales, dolphins, otters, seals, bald eagles, and jellyfish. We did do a whale excursion but we saw some from the boat too and there was even a humpback whale next to our balcony at one point. We saw the bear on the way back from the whale excursion in a field, although in College Fjord there is a side called “Bear Beach” where apparently there are a lot of bears that can be seen. Oh and I saw a family of foxes on our excursion to White Pass in Skagway.

  • Oh.  You gotta spend time outside…. Maybe that was my problem?
