Friday finally

What's coming up for the weekend?

Re: Friday finally

  • Mom decided to paint our laundry room also because she finished the living room faster that she expected. I'm so incredibly grateful she offers to do this stuff and really enjoys it. It's not lost on me how lucky I am. Plugging through some work this morning, then hopefully doing some house projects/running errands this afternoon.

Swimming and gymnastics for kiddos tomorrow, then their school rented out a small water/theme park nearby for tomorrow evening and we'll go to that. H is golfing a bunch this weekend since my mom and sis are here. Trying to convince him to pull the trigger on tickets to a music festival in Louisville in September because I really want to see Zach Bryan in concert. We missed him in CHI and there a ton of bands at this festival that H loves, even if ZB wouldn't be his top choice. Selling it as a belated anniversary thing (our 10 year was last week!).
  • Zach Bryan would be awesome @Casadena. I also love Louisville! Fun town.  My parents painted my entire house.  I tried.  I’m no good at it. I leave streaks.  So I know what you mean! The money saved.  It’s really expensive right now and hard to find painters (like any craft).

Yesterday’s musical was a bust.  I just wasn’t comprehending it. Set in the 40’s (well 1939) which I love, but had no story line and didn’t hold my interest. Plus two singers’ voices were high pitched and annoying me so I felt like I got the jist of it in act 1 and left. I went shopping at Ross.  Got some really good finds too. Found me a “little black dress”.  I never owned one before, I always hated dresses.  It’ll be great for a cruise formal night or the wedding I’m invited to next year maybe?
Also, i couldn’t make an appt with the dealerships auto body shop till the 23rd.  Take a look at what I found on my car. Bullet hole? Could even be a drill? My deductible is probably more than the fix. I’ll probably be paying out of pocket.  I can go anywhere right?  Also super annoyed if this was intentional on my 3 month old car.  Grrrr.

  • Louisville is such a fun city to hang around it, even if I'm biased. You should so go! Plus it's fairly cheap. I'm always pleasantly surprised by how reasonable food/drinks are there.

I'm so ready for the weekend. Work is being annoying the last couple of days, and the week after a holiday just always drags. Fairly quiet weekend. I'm going to try to get in a run early tomorrow, and then we'll do a short hike with all these dogs. I'm thinking of spending the afternoon at a winery with one of my BFFs since she's unexpectedly childless for the weekend and dying for an adult activity. Sunday we'll take the paddleboards back out early, and then watch the soccer finals in the afternoon and evening.
  • I am being stalked by a gecko!

When I left the house for work yesterday morning, a pink gecko fell on my shoulder and then to the ground.  Totally freaked me out!  I mean, I like geckos and I'm not normally afraid of them.  But when a small animal suddenly falls on you, it is startling.

When I left for work this morning, that SAME gecko (I assume) fell to the ground next to me!

Nothing planned for the weekend.  I don't even have errands to run, which is great.

I have some new protocols/medications I'm going to try for my weight loss starting tomorrow.  I eat less than 1,100 calories/day (90% of the time), but I haven't lost even one pound in 6 weeks.  And the 10% it was more, was still under 1600 calories.  It's very frustrating.  Since I'll be trying multiple things...including getting back to exercise (the hardest one)...I'm going to start keeping meticulous track of what I'm doing.  I'm just hoping I can finally stumble on the right combination of things to start seeing progress again.  Because low-cal eating and taking a GLP-1 medication isn't cutting it anymore.

Despite that sounding negative, I'm actually feeling excited and hopeful.  That maybe this setback will lead to new discoveries, that will make things easier and give me more flexibility going forward.

  • I have some house projects to finish.  I bought panels to go behind my bed.  I've had them for a couple of weeks and would like to really get them up.  Then, there's just some odds and ends to hang that I haven't gotten to yet.  I think I'm almost finished with big stuff and decor in my space and that's exciting to me.  I'll still have little projects (I want to make a reading nook in my bedroom in a spot), re-buying the rugs that Harley destroyed when she first came to me, but no more big furniture to buy/put together or organizing big things.  Even if I left this space, which I have no forseeable plans of doing, I would be able to set up a new home for myself.

Then I'll see Mom on Sunday and check in with her.  My aunt told me I was doing a really good job taking care of her and I appreciated that.  I had planned to start looking at retiremnent homes when I was unemployed.  I'm still going to, but it'll have to be piecemealed now.  She pushed back for the first time on this plan.  I know she doesn't want to leave the house and she's comfortable there and I feel guilty for pushing.  But she's only a year or two away from having to do it and I'd like to be able to choose wisely and get on a waiting list if we have to.  The house will sell whenever she decides to sell, I'm 100%  not worried about that. It's in immaculate condition and in a very desirable neighborhood.
  • I have a busy work day to finish and then we coast into the weekend prepping Chiquita for a week at camp.  It's supposed to be surface of the sun hot so now our focus is adding cooling stuff in addition to the regular packing list.  It also means getting ALL the laundry done so she has the easy clothing that she needs for the week.  I'm super excited for her!

  • Work has been busy, J is sick now too. We’re hanging in there. We’re doing a swim day tomorrow so looking forward to that!
  • DD, her family and DS2 are here for the weekend. DS2 is helping his BF from HS and his wife move into their new house. H has been smoking some pork shoulders so we are having BBQ for dinner along with sides. Weather is iffy for the weekend. We'd like to do some outdoor activities with the boys but we will see how it pans out. We are going to the farmer's  market to get some sweet corn for dinner, and I have altar guild at church for 30 minutes.

I've started pulling together clothes for Montana. Hopefully they will all fit in a carry on. I'm still not convinced my hip/back/leg will hold up to a morning on a horse followed by an afternoon whitewater rafting. I guess I will just have to see. I'd rather do the horse back riding than the rafting.
