Wedding Woes

Hump Day

Yesterday was a day of pain for me.
I got my crown taken off and a fitting for a new one, but it took 3 hours (estimated at 1). Extra cleaning was needed when she took it off.  The pain was from having my mouth open wide for 2.5 hours of it. The other 1/2 hr was taking the impression. I will be so happy when it’s over. And it takes about three weeks for the lab to get it done.  It took 3 weeks 15 years ago when I first had it done. This is a rework from it shifting over time. We haven’t moved in technology yet? Not even up a week?
Then, in the evening it was pain I asked for.  The salon I’m starting to go to offers a red light radio frequency/microneedling session for $75/each.  That’s a great price.  The RF is done first, then the microneedling.  My face was red last night, a slight (but not very noticeable) pink today.  I looked up morpheus8 which is RF and microneedling combined in one unit and that’s $1,200–$2,000 for the recommended 3 sessions.  I’d much rather pay the $225 (also need 3 sessions) and not have it combined.  I also assume morpheus8 is more effective but this girl is on a budget.
Hope everyone has a good hump day!

Oh and by the by, anyone find any good prime deals? I only checked up on stuff in my cart, and they weren’t great.  In fact, walmart was competing pretty hard with them and found a lot of my saved amazon items cheaper at walmart com.

@CharmedPam, I'm sorry your teeth hurt so much, but the microneedling sounds great!

I'm in Switzerland right now on a tour my dad planned months ago with him, his son, daughter-in-law and their two children. (Yes, technically they are my brother, sister-in-law, niece and nephew, but while the scenery and activities have been wonderful, as a family reunion this trip turned into a complete failure and we are now estranged - maybe permanently.) My father's son has anger management issues which resulted in his getting violent when I was angry that his daughter, with whom I was supposed to share hotel rooms, checked into our hotel while the rest of us were sightseeing, took both room cards without leaving one for me and then left a WhatsApp message that she might go to sleep. I snapped, "That makes it fucking impossible for me to get into my room." I didn't use the F-word or any other to her or about her directly; I was just annoyed. I'd been dealing with a lot of crap lately topped off by Hurricane Beryl (laid off in May, working low-paying contract jobs, worried about money, sleep issues and vertigo from our traveling around curves and up and down slopes at high speeds).

My father's son overheard, went "Papa Bear," took his anger management issues into orbit and got physically violent and destructive with me which left a scar and damaged property while telling me to "Grow up." Then he told my dad that he hates me so much and defriended me on Facebook. The four of them and I are not speaking (their decision), which has led to some awkward moments when we have been forced to sit together in restaurants and on trains. I cope by using my phone and otherwise trying to keep a low profile, but this is uncomfortable. My dad decided to stay neutral.

Hurricane Beryl hit Houston two days before my dad and I left for the tour, and there was some question about whether we would make it out of Houston on time. We were supposed to make a connecting flight from Houston to Munich and then from Munich to Zurich since there are no direct flights between Houston and Zurich, but the Munich-Zurich leg was cancelled and we instead changed our itinerary to a Houston-Newark-Zurich one. Our original return flight itinerary from Zurich to Houston via Frankfurt remains intact for now. We should be returning on July 21.

I stayed with my dad for several days before we left on the trip in order to help him with a non-emergency medical issue, and while I was at his house, Hurricane Beryl struck. He didn't lose electrical power, but he did lose his internet/cable TV connection which as of this post is still down. I was trying to work remotely from his house and couldn't do so. Several of my friends lost power and/or internet (including some who got their power back and lost it again) and still don't have it back. And of course, several people I know are dealing with flooding, fallen trees and other damage.

I do have some hope that I can find another job and audition for some plays when I come back, and tax season part 2 will be starting around then too so there should be opportunities to make more money. And the scenery here is gorgeous. Here's a photo I took of the Matterhorn:

So hopefully things will work themselves out for the better.
  • So far I've bought a random shirt, one of those red light face massager/sculptor things, a new mattress pad for the guest bed, and a pair of pajama shorts. Currently in my cart is an ultrasonic cleaner for my night guard/retainer that's not part of prime days, but a decent price and i can use HSA dollars. Definitely not exciting or inspiring by any means.

Last working day this week. I have errands to run tonight while H is doing bedtime (returns mostly, just to get things out of the house). Tomorrow G has a quick bloodwork appointment, then I need to pick up the house, hang a few pictures, do laundry, and clean the upstairs. Friday is picking up groceries and slow cooking 30lbs of pork all day, cleaning the rest of the house, and weeding the last flower bed. We're doing pulled pork, baked beans, coleslaw, chips, and assorted dessert trays. I'm going to do a few hot dogs and set out some pouches for kiddos too.

Tables, chairs, and bounce house will be delivered Saturday morning while kiddos are at swim/gymnastics. We'll have time to change and set up food and then we're as ready as we will be! I just hope G has fun :)
  • oh wow @Jen4948 all of that sounds so difficult, i'm sorry you're having to deal with everything, especially on what is supposed to be a nice family trip. Sending lots of hugs.
  • Yikes that sounds awful @Jen4948! Your brother could have handled that way better.  Were both your names on the room? Even if she took both keys, I think you’d be able to get one made up again if you showed them your id (or maybe the person who booked it was in your group?).  The views would be amazing. Love that pic.
@Casadena. It went down a bit so I bought it. I also got some luggage which I knew I needed after my Alaska trip but the luggage deals aren’t great.  Maybe I can wait till real black friday?

  • Thanks @Casadena and @CharmedPam. Both our names were on the room and the desk clerk gave her a little folder with both keys. She took them both up to the room.

The desk clerk gave me a temporary key and asked me to bring it back once I got into the room and got one of the regular keys from my father's son's daughter.

You're right, the scenery is incredible. That makes this trip worth it despite all the other crap.
  • Yikes @Jen4948 that’s a whole lot!

I got a slip n slide and a handheld water bottle for running. No great deals but needed them. Well the water bottle, the slip n slide will be fun for M’s birthday in a few weeks!

Thanks @charlotte989875! It sounds like M is going to have a really fun birthday!
  • I ordered 2 desks & 2 file cabinets for my home office.  Lower prices for Prime Days but not cheap.  Operation Office remodel has begun lol.  Lots of junk to go through and organize as my office tends to be where things go that don't have another place.

Doing a Sam's Club pick-up after work and then getting organized because I have to work onsite tomorrow.  My mom is coming to keep DH company.

I took Monday off and we're planning to go to IKEA and a couple of other places in the city.  Now that DH has a scooter, we can do more of those things depending how he feels.

  • Oof, @Jen4948 I'm glad the scenery is enough to make up for all that.  The kids parties both sound great.

I have to cook tonight, but otherwise no big plans.  My right eye is being a bother.  I was having allergy attacks and that eye swelled.  I think I might've ended up scratching it or at least making it very angry.  Yesterday I finally gave up adn took out my contact around 3.  It ws starting to feel better but still achining.  So I covered it with a eye patch I got from seeing The Goonies a few months ago.  So, yes I'm walking around looking like a pirate. . But my eye looks significantly better.  i'll leave it on until tomorrow morning and see how I feel about trying a contact again.

Took mom to the doctor this morning.  She's okay; basically between her glasses and her hearing aid, I think she got a pressure sore that was terrible looking.  Got some steroid cream to try and heal it up and found some cushion pads for her glasses to see if it helps.

I'm watching Evil on Netflix.  I still am not sure I like it but it's interesting enough.

That’s quite the accomplishment @short+sassy! Congrats on the size down! I completely forgot to look at my subscribe and save, but they all looked better with the % off I get by waiting my normal shipment
I need some new shows to watch.  I meant to start evil. Thanks for the reminder! I tried to purchase appletv but I couldn’t remember my pw.  I don’t want to reset it because it’s linked to my phone and a I don’t want that to be unlinked.  I’ll just not get appletv then. I couldn’t even make a new acct for my tv because it’s all connected to my phone number. Apple id and pw, you’re very annoying.
