Prudie Thursday

Working from home and it feeeeeeels so good! I’m so glad I got out of today’s event.  I have to split up my workout before I head out for my hair removal appt, so hopefully my lazy butt can do 10-10-10 instead of 1/2 hour lumped together.  But I’m going to be real with you.  I kinda like lazying it up and not working out.  Story of my life.
Back in May, a group of friends and I had set a bbq get together at my place for tomorrow. My place is the smallest of the three that own houses and I was just selected to host it by someone who can’t??? I don’t even know if my grill works because it’s been years since I used it. Grilling isn’t my thing. 2 weeks ago my friend (who volunteered me) asked if it’s still a go. No one responded. Last Thursday I said “I’m still in, but my deck is a mess (true).  Can we pick a place to eat locally?”.  Or someone with a decent sized house can step up and volunteer….Again, no response.  This group has been trying to get together for a year and someone always cancels the day of.  So I made new plans for tomorrow.  Sorry, but no response in 2 weeks? I know my future tomorrow would be sitting at home, alone, because I relied on them.

Re: Prudie Thursday

  • That is so frustrating @CharmedPam! Enjoy your new plans.

Our house guest left a little after 9 this morning so I made it to my training appointment on time this morning. Now I need to start pulling stuff together for the beach. We take kitchen stuff and beach stuff along with some playthings for the grandsons. We are the only ones that drive down so we take what we can in our car.
  • I've been lurking all week but just getting around to posting. G's party on Saturday was incredible. The fire department brought 2 fire engines and an ambulance and let all the kids climb in them, spray the fire hose, and push the pedal for the siren. The bounce house was a huge hit and we had plenty of food. Everyone had a great time. Including my in-laws who showed up an hour early and stayed 5 hours late! And my MIL got drunk and said some pretty insulting things and I'm still annoyed. But other than that everything was great.

Of course, later that night the boys had fevers (fine now) and were sick all day Sunday. I got sick Monday afternoon and just cannot kick this. Fever (gone now) chills, sweats, no appetite, i feel like my limbs weigh a thousand pounds and I am SO tired. Not COVID, although i've had it 4 times so maybe long COVID? Random virus? My Dr. can't get me in til Monday, but I'm hoping to feel a bit better by then for sure. I've been working from home all week and trying to finish a project by a Friday deadline but keep needing to stop to lay down, so we'll see.

Looking forward to a chill weekend.
  • That would annoy the shit out of me @charmedpam

I am beyond exhausted today. H and I went out to dinner with his parents after I worked all day and that was too much for me I think. We got home and had a...I wouldn't even call it a spat, just one of those couple weird energy not a fight but not happy things and I think I was just way overstimulated and overtired. It was all I could do this morning to get dressed and go to work instead of calling out. Yesterday was just exhausting in general. I had to talk to an investigator about my brother, which was emotional and exhausting, then during the call it came out that there's someone in Georgia using my identity with a driver's license. So now I have to call Georgia PD and DMV. Identity theft really is the shit gift that never stops giving.

Otherwise, SSDD. Probably a walk tonight or the elliptical. Today feels daunting.

  • Have fun at the beach @ILoveBeachMusic (wait, I finally “get” your name lol)
@Casadena what fun for the kids! I know they love that stuff. Heck, I would have even hit that siren. Sorry it ended up with an illness
oh @levioosa you do not need that added stress! You’re a trooper for going to dinner.  I probably would have done the same but canceling would have crossed my mind.

Anyone hear about Southwest ditching the group seats and doing assigned seating now?  I have mixed feelings. I never minded the groups and it used to be the cheapest option and worth that.  But lately their prices have been matching the other major airlines so they may as well?

  • Aw, that's all great and so validating! @mrsconn23

  • @Casadena, that party sounds amazing!  I would definitely have been following the kids' lead and been climbing in the fire truck, spraying the hose, and running the siren.  I'm glad your MIL didn't ruin the day.  Is she a mad/unhappy drunk?  Because it's weird timing after a fun day of celebration.  I hope you feel better soon and get your project done.

@mrsconn23, what a great work day and happy hour!  It's always so reassuring to get that kind of praise and recognition from coworkers.

My H and I went to Costco last night and then stopped at Whole Foods on the way home to pick up an Amazon package.

I have a busy day at work trying to catch up on a few things.  It did not help that I had to spend the whole morning moving stuff to my new cube.  I was really annoyed I had to move.  It's the 8th time in the 13 years I've worked here, smh.  But now that the bulk of the work is done and I'm getting settled in, I'm happier than I thought I would be.

My cube is a little bigger but also has a better layout.  It's a rectangle instead of a square, so feels more spacious.  It's also in the corner of the room, so I have two walls which feels more private.  Love that!

  • Gorgeous pictures! @ei34

Well, the day isn't getting any better. Lots of layoffs in the company, no transparency, and the absolute disrespect from the C-Suite is insane (but not unexpected). I don't want to change jobs right at this second, and I keep going back and forth with looking because I have a bad feeling about the economy in general. But there's not a lot of stability here either. Just ugh.

  • I'm ready for the end of the week.

Nothing too much going on today.  Just working and vibing.  This weekend I'm finally going to see Inside Out 2 and putting up more Harley toys.  She has been so irritable this week, I don't know what's going on.  She hasn't had any "I'm sick signs" in her litterbox, so I'm keeping an eye on her, but she just seems annoyed AF with me all the time.

I've been hearing fantastic things about how realistic and well done Inside Out 2 is. I even had an (adult) patient tell me, "you know the little orange guy in Inside Out 2? That's how I feel every day!" I have to go watch it.

I hope Harley is okay! You got her as a kitten right? Because they go through their own version of Terrible 2s/teen years. She's not hiding, or throwing up or anything else odd? Just being a pill? lol

  • I adored Inside Out 1.  It was truly the beat depiction of depression I've seen on screen. I bawled the first time I saw it.  I'm really looking forward to the 2nd one and have also heard great things about it.  I feel like it's such a great teaching tool for everyone, no matter their age.

August I will have had her for a year.  She was supposed to be a year old when I got her, but I really think she was younger.  Cats can have their first litter at about 4 months and she had a litter young.  I suspect she's just now about a year and a some.  She was a bit of a pill but had calmed down some the last couple of months.  But, I also am working from home now and I think there's a bit of a struggle going on.  Usually when I'm home I pay attention to her and now I'm sitting at this desk doing stuff...not paying attention to her  So she's acting out  But the last week she has been especially vocal and ornery.  I've even popped out the calming treats and spray the last week or so.  I'm hoping she settles down soon.
  • Change is hard for animals as they are such creatures of habit.  Hopefully she settles in soon.  Our Callie was a very young mom and had a litter at about 6 months.  She'll be 2 in December (we think) and is still in toddler mode some days.

  • Lovely pics @ei34
oh yikes @levioosa, I hope you can hang in there until YOUR ready to leave

I just signed back with amc. Maybe I should see inside out 2 too

  • @CharmedPam so sorry for the silence. That's definitely frustrating logistically and otherwise! I hope you are able to move forward with it.

@Casadena I'm sorry you are feeling sick. Your party sounds like lots of fun.

    @mrsconn23 that's awesome!

@ei34 welcome back! Your vacation sounds great! Beautiful photos.

@short+sassy, I'm sorry you had to move but it sounds like it's working out for you, so best of luck.

@levioosa and @VarunaTT, I hope things get better for you both.

@charlotte989875, best of luck with the interviews.

This week has been a drag for me. No luck with interviews for full-time work or auditions, but dealing with several medical issues: severe vertigo and mammogram follow-up today. My doctor prescribed some eye tests and medication for the vertigo. It's raining here in Houston again (just what we didn't need). And a package that was backordered and delivered while I was away went missing and I had to request a reorder because it didn't track.

But it sounds like the mammogram is okay (whew). I am in charge of an online reading on Saturday afternoon and my contract work is going okay. There's definitely plenty of it. I also have lots of CPE (continuing professional education) to catch up on and then tax season part 2 is starting up. No time to rest.

  • @charlotte989875, Wow!  Two potential new jobs for you at your company!  I hope one of them works out to be a better opportunity for you.
