Battling a hormonal headache and just back home from appointment 1/3 today, but otherwise ssdd.

Weekend was a nice mix of swimming, cooking, and seeing friends.
  • Weekend here was ok. I mostly binge watched olympics and did chores; nothing really fun. H has been back in school and his final project is due today, so he spent most of the weekend working on that. I'm so excited for him to be done with school again.

Nothing much else. I'm starting to think about a fall getaway and looking at mountain cabins for October.
  • Weekend was good.  I went to breakfast with a good friend and she ended up hanging out until another friend came over to watch Deadpool 1 and 2 in preparation for seeing the new one on Sunday.  However, I totally indulged in junk food all day because of that and I felt like absolute crap on Sunday, so I ended up not going to the movie.  I was able to get all of my chores finished, but I didn't start feeling better until around 3:00.  My body was also trying to start a period, so I'm sure that didn't help.

I just sat through a work meeting and...I'm feeling a bit discouraged about myself.  I've been tested for autism before and I don't test onto the spectrum, but it's damn close.  And there are huge overlaps between autism and OCD.  There's a lot of information coming out about how autism and neurodivergence in general affects employment and it's got me feeling some sort of way because it describes what has happened to me in many jobs over the years.  I do still have good feelings about this job.  But this meeting was about PIE theory: performance, image, and exposure.  And performance is 10%, image is 30%, and exposure if 60% of "success" careers.  Any my brain was just like, this bullshit again?  Why can't I just do my job really fucking well and that be the indicator?  Why do I have to make these relationships, that when I do try, bite me in the ass, and when I don't try, bit me in the ass?  Trying not to get down about it, but this part of having to work is truly exhausting.

There were lots of people sick here last week, how is everyone feeling?
  • Well M has HFM because of course that’s what we needed this week. And he’s got the fever+ mouth sores version. H and I are both here, along with my mom trying to keep the kids apart and the house Lysoled. Wish us luck.

And of course I have an interview at 2!

    OHHH NOO!!!

I'm so sorry it's so prevalent in the summer!

I think it's a 1:1 benadryl/maalox that you can use to wipe the mouth?  DD only had a very mild case but I *think* if you don't already have that to ask the pedi?  I'm hearing that in addition to the fever medication it can help but I'm obviously no doctor and do not want to give medical advice.

Solidarity.  There can be times it feels like you're just prepping for the next illness as you recover from one.

I may have said this story before but years ago we went from a Christmas Strep to croup that didn't go away and then turned into pneumonia by the end of January.   I asked the doctor if I should be concerned by the frequency that increased of her illnesses because as an infant we didn't see them so often and he shrugged his shoulders and said, "Meh.  You had a good run."

Hugs.  You'll get to a point where they aren't just snotting on you.
  • @charlotte989875 that is the worst!! Hope you can figure out a med combo that makes him a bit more comfortable. And good luck at your interview!
  • Busy weekend here. Sports Saturday morning, Kids concert in the afternoon. Sunday we met up with my parents and their friends for breakfast, they were in CHI for a couple vacation days, and then spent the afternoon at IL's and it was surprisingly nice. They were well behaved and the kids were too. I did get hit directly in the eyeball with a stomp rocket and have a black eye today, but overall it was a very nice day.
  • Happy anniversary @banana468!

    @charlotte989875, I hope M is better soon. That's awful.

As for me, quiet weekend (nice actually) and now back to work. Kind of blah.

Thank you! Our pedi told us the same thing (that it’s going around) and had us to that mixture. Except he swallowed it and passed right out from the Benadryl. I feel like it’s been one thing after another but I figure that’s just kids in daycare/school. Just hoping we can keep it from J.

Well....Benadryl can zonk you.  Chiquita at 12/13 needs to premedicate her infusions and until April the requested antihistamine was Benadryl.  I'm relieved they moved to Zyrtec and we may see that she can get a morning infusion and not lose an entire day of HS.

FWIW, I LOVED our daycare but it was a breeding ground for illness.  One day there were NO babies in the infant room when a stomach bug was going around.  And that bug hit Chiquito who gifted DH on his birthday with a puke filled crib, I got sick two days later and Chiquita sick two days after.  The glorious confusion where DH walked around just wondering when it was going to be his turn and of all times to NOT feel gross he managed to escape it.

I also LOVE our daycare but OMG the viruses. I get it. They do a great job of cleaning, air filters/HVAC, and sanitizing but kids are kids, they’re in each others faces and this is the result.

H has been going around the house just spraying everything with Lysol. As soon as M gets up he sprays where he was sitting. He’s fighting the good fight on this one!

Our pedi also told us, with introducing foods to J, that if he has a reaction the liquid zyrtec for kids is better than Benadryl because of how it can knock them out. I had just never seen it before last night!
  • FWIW Benadryl can go either way but was what my BIL and SIL's pedi recommended when they flew to Spain when their oldest was 11 mo.
