Rehearsal

What are your thoughts about the rehearsal? Would it be bad to do it the week before ? My wedding is on a Saturday and we have friends that will be working during the week and also on the Friday and know that they will not be able to make it, since they will be coming straight from work. And it seemed to be easier for most to do it the week before. We aren't planning on going a big rehearsal dinner. Planning on doing a small thing with the bridal party and immediate family. And I feel like there would be so much going on during the week the week of the wedding to do it the day before.

Re: Rehearsal

  • I think the only issue I can come up with is how much of a logistics problem would that be?  It seems like getting two weekends in a row for the same people to get together can be asking a lot unless your entire wedding party is literally people who live super close to you and that includes anyone else involved in the ceremony including the officiant, readers, etc.

I don't think there's anything wrong with it being the week before but it can also still feel like you're adding something in when you may be in prep mode.
  • I agree with @banana468 unless everyone involved is local you really can't expect people to come in from out of town two weekends in a row. I also would be hesitant to ask locals to book two weekends for wedding things. I think most people figure on a whole weekend when attending a wedding so a rehearsal the night before is considered "normal" when you are in the party.
  • We have discussed this with our bridal party and it seemed not to have been an issue for anyone. The only thing is that my MOH lives out of state , but she is aware and is planning to make it down for the week anyways. The only thing doing it a day before is that none of the bridal party is staying at the hotel on Friday so that would mean they would have to drive back home regardless and be back the next day for the wedding.
  • There's one logistics aspect that's vitally important - the venue(s) itself!!!  The venue may not be available for you to have the rehearsal the week before.
