Wedding Woes

Wednesday

I'm taking Friday off and enjoying a long weekend. Maybe I'll even go outside and see people r something.

Nothing going on.  I went to see a friend last night and hang out a bit.  He's also the one who I might do the part time work for to cover his paralegal's maternity leave.  We discussed it again and I think he's going to do this.  He'd probably have to go through a temp agency otherwise and you just really never know what you're going to get with a temp in a law office.  That'll be a nice supplemental salary.  Now that I'm feeling the way I am, I feel like tackling my financial management skills is within my grasp and the extra money will help with that.

Otherwise, SSDD.

Re: Wednesday

  • Awesome if you can work out an arrangement, @VarunaTT - I'm sure the extra income for a time would be nice.

Very excited about starting my new job! Of course this is a very weird time to move -  N has to get his tonsils out on 9/23 (H technically has FMLA, but he can't use it unless he's exhausted PTO, which doesn't really work for us), so i'll be out for 1-2 weeks depending on recovery. Then we're going to Disney at the end of October. Woops! My new team knew all this going in, but I still feel kind of bad about it.

I forgot my lunch today, AF is teasing me but probably coming full blast today or tomorrow, and H was in a MOOD this morning. But I finished my book last night and it was incredible. I'm not a huge fantasy person, but Fourth Wing and Iron Flame were a couple of the best books i've read in a long time. Dragons, war, sex, magic, overall awesome. Highly recommend if anyone is in the mood for a new book.
  • @Casadena, every younger person I've seen get their tonsils out has bounced back easily, so I'll keep my fingers crossed for you guys and N.  I didn't have mine until I was 16 and it was a bit harder, but mainly it was just dealing with the stitches that was a PITA.  I could only eat really soft food that I could mash in mouth and swallow.

I would love that extra cash flow @VarunaTT, but don’t want to have to work for it.  Lol.

I got caught in a torrential downpour yesterday.  My friend and I went out for dinner. She was going to buy me a slice of cake but I said I was going to target anyway and the cakes at the diner seem to always be dry.  But target was a bust so I went to Walmart.  Drenched! I tried to get a slice of cake there - but it wasn’t ringing up, so I left it. I went to McDonald’s for a shake.  Had a few sips (they’re not as good as I remembered them) but when I got out to collect that and all my bags, it slipped out of my hand and spilt everywhere.
If there was ever a sign that I shouldn’t have a dessert, that would be it.  Ha!

Hi.  Yesterday was such a long day.  It also helps nothing that we were up until extremely late (like late enough to wonder why I bothered to try to sleep).

Work was long and personal shit was also happening (yes, the kiddo's ex is up to fuckery...again...I think I mentioned that we've retained counsel for him to sort out this mess).  After work, SIL and I went to get pedicures and then we met up with her BFF and friend of hers to go to the movies.  We saw "It Ends With Us".  It wasn't my choice, but it was...fine.  Definitely not worth all the hoopla of the press tour.

I don't want to say much about the kiddo's stuff, but we did have some 'assistance' in info collection and some other things.  I realized last night that DH and I have SO many people we can rely on to ask for help and they'd likely provide it without question.  It's just...nice to know.

I was sorting some stuff out through dinner last night (with phone calls and texts and stuff) and talking to everyone about it.  I looked at the friend I hadn't met before and I was like, "I swear my life is not normally like this."  At the end of the night she was all, "I will need updates!"  LMAO.

It can be one of the few saving graces to know that you have people you can call to lean on in various ways when it hits the fan (or in our case last year the floor).
  • Unfortunately I think you’re going to have 18+ years of more problems with kiddo’s ex, @mrsconn23.  I still need to see that movie.

@short+sassy, I remember you telling us about that cease and desist order Eli Lily put on all compound labs.  Which would only cause another shortage if you ask me.  Well this came out today:

Now, getting the script is never a problem (most doctors will give this to someone if needed) but the cost was! So at half the price, it’s still pretty expensive but we’re getting there at least.

Yes.  The collective response is, "Oh please don't let the baby be his." Because then we truly can walk away.  But...we wait and she's just on a warpath thinking she's gonna ruin his life or something.  I believe that joke will be on her, but we'll have to find out where the chips end up falling.

Back to work today.  Glad to be here but always strange without students (who start next Tuesday).  Dealing with a headache but not work-related, it's hormonal.

    Ugh vibes your way @mrsconn23
  • Ugh, so sorry to hear about all of the stressful shenanigans @mrsconn23. I'm glad you guys have a good support system.

I am sleeeeeepyyyy today. I woke up a bunch last night. I can't tell if some new vitamins I'm taking are acting like diuretics or if it's mostly because I don't have time to drink for most of the day and I slam a few liters of fluid after work, but I have been waking up more than usual to pee at night and it's annoying AND interrupting my sleep. Plus I woke up in the middle of a dream and that's always hard to come back from.

Otherwise, SSDD. Bathroom is actually coming along. I don't want to, but tonight will be more drywall and mud work and my attention span for that is minimal after working all day. I'm being secretly selfish and I'm hoping H gets almost all of it done today while I'm gone at work. We can allllllmost install a toilet and sink.

  • It has been a busy but good day. Last week and this week are restaurant weeks in Indy (also know as Devour Indy). My bookclub went to one of the restaurants for lunch today. It was ok. I don't know that I would go back though. I definitely wouldn't order the Devour menu again - it was way too much food. I ended up bringing the appetizer (lobster dip and chips) home. I did spin class this morning and that whipped my butt! Tonight H and I are going to a wine and charcuterie event. That should be fun. I'm planning on that being dinner.

We are going to Tennessee this weekend to see some friends we travel with to Europe. They were in Portugal with us in the spring. They have a home up in the mountains. We are looking forward to just having a chill weekend with some walking and maybe some biking.

I found out later that not all compound pharmacies and telehealth websites who use those got the cease and desist letter.

The company I use did not.  Phew!  At least not yet.  I got my 3-month refill a couple weeks ago.  From my understanding, Eli Lilly needs to prove to the FDA that their MJ/Zepbound products not only don't have a shortage right now.  But that they also have something like an 8-month stockpile.

Their medication itself has never been in short supply.  It's their stupid single use pens that were.  For marketing, it helped justify the high cost because people thought the fancy pens are expensive (they're not).  But mainly curbed people from buying a higher dose than they needed and then spread it out for a few months, because all the doses were the same price.   Though the smart cookies who had a high co-pay or no coverage at all would buy sterile vials off Amazon and split the pens themselves.

Being greedy AHs with the pens backfired and put their medication on the FDA shortage list for 2ish years (HA! HA! HA! HA!)...opening the doors to compound pharmacies.

It becomes even more delicious.  Because they had never used vials or multi-dose pens in the clinical trials, they couldn't quickly transition over to that.  They had to go through a long process with the FDA for that approval.  The rumor is it took them about a year.

They are still so sly now that they can sell it by the vial.  Their shills writing articles "so affordable now!  Half the price!".  Except they're only available in the two lowest doses, which are considered "starter doses".

Give people a little taste of how amazing this medication can be.  Let them try it for a few months.  But as it becomes less effective and they want to titrate up.  Bam!  $1100/month for higher doses.

And single-use vials.  There is a lot of head-tilting out there on this aspect.  I can't explain it either.  Apparently they are going to give people 4 tiny vials for their monthly prescription.  Huh.  Looking forward to an internet pic of what a filled prescription looks like.  Awww, look how cute they are! /s.
