Dear Prudence,
My best friend is refusing to talk to me because I acted friendly with someone in a clique he dislikes. I am always friendly with everyone. But my friend is demanding that I act hostile toward every member of that clique because he hates one of them for calling him an a**hole on social media; and it’s not even the same person I was friendly with. I fundamentally do not want to be hostile to anybody, and I consider it unfair that my friend is giving me the ultimatum of either betraying my own morals or losing the friendship of someone I care about. Should I hold strong and sever my friendship with my best friend to uphold my morals?
