Hump Day

How's everyone midweek?  @levioosa how are you feeling?

Re: Hump Day

  • Sort of coasting at work. Had an annoying exH moment yesterday but deciding to let it go, I've learned that if I call him on the issue I have, he'll disappear for three months, and I don't want that for the kids.  (And the issue is more an annoyance that I can work around anyway.)  Just hw help, dinner, and counseling later today.

I like your plan @ei34, he’ll probably be like “what? What? Why isn’t this bothering her?”
I could not wake up this morning.  For the life of me. I was up from 4 to 5ish so I knew it would be a rough morning if I went back to sleep, which I did.
I downloaded the “sidechef” app which allows you to see recipes and “add to cart” which throws them in the Walmart cart for pickup.  But the recipes look like slim pickings.  Still, a helpful app. I think I’ll have to just search recipes I want or be on a lot more recipe FB pages to show up on my feed and just add the ingredients manually. Wish me luck.  No, seriously, wish me luck.  I’ll need it.

  • @CharmedPam I am liking this cookbook, enough that I bought it.  Basically, you cook one meal, with double the protein.  Save the 2nd batch of protein, cook another meal with it.  The meals are fairly basic, but well seasoned and tasty.  She also has the substitutes for low carb, gluten free, and I think vegetarian?  I've cooked out of it 3 times so far.  Since they're basic meals, my groceries have been easy to buy and fairly cheap.  Since I already have half the 2nd meal cooked, I haven't been as grumpy about cooking.  All of the meals seem to make about 10 servings at a time:  https://tinyurl.com/2frbb9dt

I've decided to skip the funeral for my friend on Saturday.  There are a lot of reasons why, but the end result is that I don't think it will be good for me overall.

Otherwise, SSDD.  I'm covering someone's vacation, so I've been busier than normal.  Partly good, partly bad.  I don't want to do too well covering because I like working for only 2 people and I don't want them to get any ideas about adding more people for me to cover.  I'm enjoying having a low stakes low stress job for the first time in my life.

  • @CharmedPam, good luck with the sidechef app!  It does sound handy if you can use it more easily for recipes outside of the app.

I know I've mentioned before I've started suspecting I have ADHD.  Not that it developed recently.  I think I've always had it, but didn't know much about this condition until earlier this year.

I found out this morning that T1 diabetics are 35-50% more likely to have ADHD than the average population.  I especially appreciated I could find this stat specifically about T1 because that isn't usually the case.  Now with more proof of my suspicions, I'm more motivated to finally get evaluated.

Found other interesting stats about the tie between ADHD and other types of diabetes.  Children who are diagnosed with ADHD have a two-fold increase in developing T2 diabetes later in life.

For women with T2 or gestational diabetes, if their blood glucose is uncontrolled or they take insulin for two months or longer while pregnant, their child has a 23% increase of developing ADHD compared to the general population.

For pregnant women with T1 diabetes, their children will have a 57% increase of developing ADHD.

Why is there such a strong correlation between diabetes and ADHD?  They don't know (sigh), Why have I had diabetes for 30 years and no one ever bothered telling me this?  I don't know, but I'm hardly surprised.  Especially in the earlier days when it didn't seem like much was known about ADHD at all.

  • That's an interesting stat.

I would definitely get checked out!  I'll say that seeing Chiquita on meds is major progress and I'm pleased she stays on task.

Problem is that there are still key times of day she's not medicated and needs to function.  Case in point: today she texted that it wasn't until she got to school she realized she wasn't wearing a bra.  In her white t shirt.  That she cut shorter with scissors.

I'm so glad the medication is working for her!  There is so much more known now about ADHD and it's awesome to see kids like your daughter getting the help they need at an early age. I so feel the "not staying on task"!  It would be a dream come true if medication could help me with that also.  Thanks for the encouragement.

I hope one of Chiquita's friends has an extra sweater or jacket!

She's due to get home any moment.  I'm awaiting to see if she shows up feeling fine or if there are feelings.  We have to go out again so there will be undergarments or shirts in use. (Kiddo isn't large chested so I just want to make sure there wasn't any flashing or wet t shirt).
  • @levioosa I'm really sorry to hear about all of this.  I hate our healthcare system.  I can completely understand not going to the ER, I hate going to the ER for any reason, even if it's not me.  No advice, b/c I know you know yourself, just big hugs and vibes.
  • Oh no, @levioosa, that sounds terrible to deal with.  Would a walk in clinic take you for a quick check up or do you think it’s something they’d direct you to the ER for anyway?
@VarunaTT, that book looks interesting AND I love the concept of having the protein for another meal.  It’s in my cart incase a better deal for black Friday should occur.
@banana468, oh how frustrating but it sounds like she solved the problem.  Still… not great about cutting shirts

  • You gone done sold me on it.

  • I buy pretty much all of my books on Thriftbooks. Saves $$ and supports more indie bookstores w/out having to do all the work of tracking one down.  Plus their records program is really worth it, I'm almost always getting a free book.
