Magic Monday

Was trying to think of a Halloween-ish adjective that began with M...it was magic or macabre but that felt like too much lol. How was everyone's weekend?

Re: Magic Monday

  • The weekend was really nice.  Had some quality time with former SIL and niece (my girls adore their big cousin, there is no one cooler than an 18 yr old!) on Saturday which was fun.   Got some grading and cleaning done too.

Yesterday we went to the early mass, helped out with the Boy Scout Christmas wreath sale outside of church, voted early (only a 20min wait...I've been having stress dreams that I'm pretty sure are election related, and wanted to just get voting over with) and some cooking and baking too.

I thought my microwave broke yesterday evening but managed to fix it this morning, woohoo.
  • Happy Monday!

Had a busy weekend that was moderately productive.

Friday night Chiquita sang the national anthem at the HS football game with 3 other students.  I watched that and then headed to Chiquito's soccer game - all of them COLD.  They had a great game and ended in a tie. We got home, ate fast and I picked up Chiquita from the football game after our team lost poorly and that started the chain of events leading to the Yankee loss that night.  Kiddos stayed up to watch that sad grand slam.

Saturday I cleaned bathrooms and did laundry, went to the afternoon mass and we came home to eat a fast dinner and get Chiquita ready for the homecoming dance.   DH and I chilled out with Chiquito and then I scooped her up from the dance.  She had a great time and appears to be adapting well to HS.  I'm pleased!  Watched the Yankees lose (again!) and then immediately went off to sleep because Chiquito had his 2nd weekend game Sunday AM.  They played a town that I've seen CHiquita play previously with kids who play rough, fake fouls and the parents who are just obnoxious on the side lines.  It's obviously a stereotype that I've got in my head after seeing CHiquita roughed up on the field by players from the same town but it wasn't all that different.  They ended in a tie and Chiquito went home feeling pretty good.  Kiddos carved pumpkins, I helped Chiquita do some room organizing and made her the Wooble that was sitting in the package in her room.   It wasn't exciting but the kids had a good time and now we're into the frenzy of a Halloween week.
  • Morning! We got back from FL on Saturday evening after a long, awesome, exhausting week. Our resort was really nice and had tons of fun things for kids to do - a few small rides, free arcade, splash pad, huge park, small science center and a free movie theater. Pool was closed which was a bummer, but obviously no shortage of activity. We also managed to get to Magic Kingdom twice, Animal Kingdom, and Sea World - and did a character lunch at AK where they got to meet Mickey, Donald, Daisy, and Goofy. The boys LOVED it. It was nice and hot during the day, cool in the evenings, and we were all ready to get home. Just hung out at home all day yesterday playing and watching TV.

Hope everyone had a nice week, i'm sure i'll catch up over lunch!

Did you go to Tusker House?  It's my favorite Character meal / food combo!

SIB: YES!!!!! The food was phenomenal!!
  • That’s fantastic @Casadena! Is this your Make A Wish trip? Glad it was so much fun

  • @CharmedPam I'm sorry to hear that and good for you for not settling.

    Everyone's weekend sounds great!

I was productive.  Friday night I got a last minute invitation to see David Sedaris.  I have always meant to read his stuff, he's definitely popular in my circle of friends, and I did not care for him.  He is obviously talented and some of his stories were great.  But then he led off with, "I'm gay, not queer" and then went on to basically complain about "wokeness" in the gay community and those who use the label queer.  And screw him.  Wealthy white gay cis men complaining is BS and just a reflection of them feeling powerless for the first time.  Especially in front of a crowd that was 100% white (while I didn't see the balcony, it was all white on the floor), and probably 95% straight and cis, laughing about it.  I did enjoy myself, I wasn't offended just tired of hearing it again, and had a good evening.

The rest of the weekend was just chores and relaxing.  I finally cleaned my bathroom and kitchen and feel a lot better.  My bathroom was straight up gross and I was somewhat ashamed of how far I let things go, but it's clean now and that's all that matters.  I reached out to check on my friend who went to the funeral and he said it was a nice service, considering.
  • Lol @banana468 My kids haven’t taken formal health class yet but they know all about puberty/what they can expect in a few years as far as changes (thought it’d be easier to tell them while they’re still young and unembarrassed…lots of questions but zero awkwardness.  Obviously including periods (DS too, not just DDs). But now whenever I complain of a headache, that I’m tired…if I am perceived as being emotional…etc, one of them will undoubtedly ask me if I’m on my period 😅 like once every few days lol
  • Love the teaching early. Hard not to facepalm when they talk about it so earnestly though!!

My boys asked me incredibly sincerely and sweetly and LOUDLY in a public restroom last week "Mom do you need a tampon today?! I can get one from your bag!"
  • I was starting to lead into good conversation with Chiquito saying something along the lines of I'm glad he's asking these questions (although I'm likely years away from menopause even though I'm 44) and this way he can start now knowing what goes on rather than be a male idiot who just thinks that it's gross.
