Beer me strength because Black Friday deals are already going down. My fave beauty influencer (beauty junky monkey) posted some skin care deals, I literally just bought from anteage last week but bought more and now I’m good for quite awhile.
I also had to buy my flights & rooms for an upcoming cruise so money was SPENT this weekend.
Last week I.T. flew in from headquarters and switched out desktops. I had a few spreadsheets on my desktop (not the company drive) that I had to save and put on my laptop, but I only use my laptop on Tuesday and Fridays so I have to update those on those days. We’re talking medical record trackers, taxes, my bills to pay, vacation planning, all my shipments (and to make sure I get my reward dollars) etc. I almost lost them too. I literally track all my utility bills and stuff since I moved into my house in 2015. I like to look at trends “oh my gas bill is $____ this month. What did I pay that this month last year? Two years ago”. And it sucks seeing it all lol.
My weekend was busy but not hectic. The Boy Scout turkey cookout in the forest still happened, shockingly, considering we’re on a drought /wild fire watch. The scout masters had several extra steps to take and it was a lot of fun.
I don’t know if it’s long Covid or just aging, but for the last few years when my parents get a cold, they have terribly intense symptoms and neither can shake it for days on end. They’re in the thick of one now and I feel so bad for them. They declined my and my siblings offers to bring soup, pick up prescriptions, etc. I just feel bad for them.
Funny you mention Black Friday @charmedpam, I agree that it feels like it’s all month now. I keep seeing “early Black Friday deals” or “Black Friday sneak peak”. Like. Save it all for the day after Thanksgiving and just make it really good!

Yes! And I’m trying to be good this year!
Amazon’s start on Thursday. I don’t have a big family and don’t have a lot to buy, but I’m hoping to knock Christmas out then. Sorry to hear about your parents @ei34. Could be a mix from both. My parents are always sick it seems. But they look after my nephews a lot and those lil boys are always sick too! Edit; no offense to anyone who owns a duckboat.
It was a good weekend here. I ended up making a pecan pie cheesecake for friendsgiving. It was so good, but really rich. Yesterday we woke up and decided to go do a long walk on the beltline (urban walking trail). We went to a section of it that we hadn't been to before and found a couple of local breweries and a distillery along the way. We had no plans, so we ended up making a day of it.
Weekend was good. My parents were here from dinnertime Friday til early this morning. Lost of hanging out, playing outside, snuggles, etc. And also 2 of the worst bedtimes sagas we've ever had. So here's hoping it was just the excitement of gma and gpa and things will be back to normal tonight. H got a ton of fall cleanup stuff done outside and got the Christmas lights up that the boys LOVE. I'm a total Scrooge - love the general vibe of the holidays, HATE decorating, undecorating, all the presents/lists/family time splitting evenly/menu planning rigamarole. As soon as my kids are old enough i'm hoping we can just do a vacation or something at Christmas and be done.
The Costco near my work had a bunch of clearance clothes last week and i got 7 pairs of pants for $35. So I'm wearing new pants today and they are great.
No way. Woman went to the wrong place for a TikTok video. And that’s absolutely a friend of hers sending DMs to make it look like the bride messaged her.
Weekend was good. DD and SIL are gone until tomorrow afternoon. We are on boy duty. GS1 absolutely drives me crazy at times. He just can't control his body (I know it is an age thing). He is in therapy for his behaviour. Honestly though it just creates for so many scenes with his brothers. Today we have the little one while the twins are in school. We took him to lunch at Potbelly's. That kid can chow down on some mac-n-cheese! It's a dreary rainy day so there isn't much else to do except play games and read inside.
I've got some things in my Amazon cart waiting to see if the prices come down later this week. I already found a replacement that was a lot cheaper for two things. One was on Amazon and the other was at Sul Le Table. Yay! I still need another idea or two for DS1 because he has a birthday next Sunday. It's like this every year. I never have trouble finding stuff for the girls but the boys are all super hard to find things for.
I think I'm going to go have a nice cup of hot tea to drive off the chills.
Weekend was a mixed bag. Friday night I picked up Chiquita and she got her new glasses. We ordered pizza and showed the kids The Goonies and I stayed up too late Friday night to watch the stupid fight but slept through the woman's match. I didn't do it intentionally but my body just decided that the buffer toggle DH was managing was not going to compete with my desire for unconsciousness. Saturday I was up early to bring Chiquita to the HS to volunteer for some auditions going on. She needed to be there on and off so once it was warmer she rode her bike Pic of the two of us twinning!
Saturday night was chill and Sunday we had church. While at mass our pastor mentioned that a devout family is sadly going to lose their child who was on life support at the time the donation of his organs. He had an ear infection that went septic and spread to his brain and he will not make a recovery. Father commented that he gave that child his 1st communion in May and funeral plans will be formed soon. My heart breaks for them and it's occupied my thoughts for a majority of my awake time since noon yesterday. Hug your kids..
Man, this Monday is Monday-ing. There was some sort of power outage near me that took the internet down. However, when that happened, the battery on my mouse also died. It was complete and utter chaos here for about fifteen minutes while I figured out everything that was going on. Only to figure out that the mute button on my new headphones is somehow stuck. So, that's going back to Amazon and getting new ones. Hopefully a quick turnaround. Worse case scenario, I might just flip my laptop to my actual computer and use it that way. So annoying.
The power outage was fixed in about an hour? Maybe a bit more. But we were also on a water boil advisory all weekend because a main pipe broke. It was fixed promptly, but then had low pressure and it took 18 hours for the lab turnaround. I think about 85% of the city was affected.
The weekend was lazy. I finished building my book nook and have ordered another one. Did a bunch of errands with/for Mom on Friday afternoon. Played with Harley. I pulled out all of my Huel meals to go back to, since I'm so uninterested in eating and cooking. This helped me through the obstacle last time, so hoping it does this time too. Not really any big news, just working and living.
@banana468, you and Chiquita look great! The family resemblance is even more so because of the glasses, lol. I'm sorry to hear about the church members about to lose their child. It's scary how fast something that's usually so minor, like an ear infection, can turn deadly if the infection spreads and can't be controlled.
My neighbor friend was out of town for about a week, but had asked me to help her with a big party a few weeks ago. I had forgotten the date and assumed she was still out of town. She texted me noon on Friday and asked if I could still help with the party. Uuuhhh, sure, lol. It was for a relatively new (to her) social group she joined that's a running/walking club. It was a lot of fun! I didn't know anyone except her, but people were friendly. My friend is also the Appetizer Queen, which is my favorite way to eat, so I was well fed, lol.
I think I'd mentioned I had a telehealth appointment about a week ago for my suspected ADHD. The doctor prescribed me a non-stimulant medication and it's nice because the same website ships it to you. They don't handle the more effective stimulant medications, which I knew. I took it for the first time last night. No negative side effects at least not yet, other than a little dry mouth. Maybe an improvement in focus and motivation today. Better than usual, but I also sometimes have days like that anyway. The doctor and online research told me it can take 3-4 weeks to see full effects. So jury is still out, which is fair enough. But so far, so good and I'm hopeful.
That's completely heartbreaking @banana468, the family is at the top of my prayer list. It was almost four years ago today that DS had an ear infection lead to a bone infection which led to an emergency Saturday night surgery, it's terrifying how quickly an ear infection can spiral. Vibes your way as I'm sure you're super shaken up. And lovely twinning picture of you and Chiquita!!

Yeah I think a lot of us are. It was definitely not something on my radar that an ear infection can do this and we were already pretty vigilant on sore throats after the same bacteria put a friend's child in the hospital with rheumatic fever about 10 years ago. Chiquita's confirmation class was addressed by the director of religious ed on Sunday night and when I picked her up, she assessed that the director was visibly shaken.
😢 @banana468, I hate the “knowing”. Like you know it’s going to happen just a matter of when. Those glasses look great on her (and you but I bet you had yours for awhile!) @short+sassy, hope the meds help. Why does everything I want instantly take four weeks?!?
