Fri-yay

We made it.  What a week.  Wishing everyone some relaxing and enjoyable moments this weekend!

Re: Fri-yay

  • Hoping to get through the work day without any bumps.  I might try and squeeze my cleaning in after work but before our family movie night.

Tomorrow - for the first time ever before Thanksgiving, it's just such a short stretch of time between Thanksgiving and Christmas this year! - I'm bringing down the tree and setting it up in its spot.  Just the tree and its lights, no ornaments.  We'll fully decorate for Christmas aside from setting up the tree the day after Thanksgiving.  Tomorrow afternoon the kids have a swim meet that I'm volunteering at.  I'm planning to do my big Thanksgiving grocery shop early tomorrow, as soon as the kids wake up.

Sunday we'll go to the early mass bc we have 10am tickets to Wicked.  It was actually the kids who expressed interest and asked to go, bc it's one of my least favorite Broadway plays (not that I disliked it, just thought it was too long, it wasn't a repeat for me).  But they've heard friends talking about it. And they like Ariana Grande from the show Sam & Cat, lol.  (I'm actually a big Cynthia Erivo fan - speaking of seeing a play multiple times, she's my favorite Celie from The Color Purple.)  After the movie I have some cooking to do.
  • We're bookending the weekend with two concerts.   Tonight DH and Chiquito have a Cub Scout meeting where DH said he's not going to be one of the leaders to get pie in the face so he can come home clean and not need a shower (they will pick a leader to hit with whipped cream tonight as they hit their goal of popcorn sales.)

We'll scoot out to our concert tonight and then have a chill time Saturday but I need to figure out which mass Chiquita is attending because she has to do service hours Sunday and she's required to do at least 1-2 projects for Confirmation.

Sunday will be busy with the second show and the ILs are watching the kids because it's a late night.
  • I just need this day to go by quickly. I'm just so over work right now and really need a break.

Not a whole lot going on this weekend. Tomorrow we'll go do a long run along the beltline and probably get overpriced coffee at some super trendy urban spot. Then we planned a date night at one of my favorite restaurants tomorrow night. Sunday I agreed to go do this awful burpee workout with a couple of friends at the park, so then we'll probably spend the afternoon at a brewery. Somewhere in there I've got to get some yard work done and finish my library book.

Hopefully I'll be less cranky by Monday.
  • I loved Wicked @ei34 but I feel like I really only loved the first half.  My friend and I got our seats for Tuesday’s discount day (for her, I have a pass)
A workout devoted to only burpee’s? I’m busy that day.

Last Friday I went to a botox appt, but she wasn’t there. I was annoyed and went back home and rescheduled for next week, because it was a Groupon and a good price so I still wanted to use it. I got a reminder that my appt was today.  That was a complete accident on my part because my colonoscopy was scheduled for today (and scheduled way before making that appt) but I canceled it.  I knew I couldn’t drive to the medspa after that type of procedure! As it turns out, I can make it now only because I’m not getting it done today.  I also can do a board & brush meetup tonight because I won’t be all out of it.

  • I am trying to decide if I should go to Trader Joe's tonight, or tomorrow. I have to go at some point and I'm dreading it. Yesterday I did absolutely nothing because I felt horrible. I'm still really tired today, but I don't feel as bad. I don't know what is causing these enormous crash and burn days, but I'm over it. Otherwise, SSDD.

  • IDK why this week felt so long, but it did.  I'm ready for the weekend.  I logged into no tasks and no emails, so I feel like it's going to be an easy day (hopefully).  I'm going to start my laundry soon.  I loooove WFH, it just makes my life so much easier and fuller.

I almost strangled (literally) Harley this morning.  Basically we were playing on my desk, which **I** should've know better.  She ends up rolling off, but the spot she rolled off was dangerous to fall off of.  She was holding onto my left hand with her front paws for dear life and I had them grasped and I had caught her collar with my right hand.  I had to shift my left hand under her bottom, so I basically strangled her with my right.  She did make the "I'm strangling" noise, but didn't fight me.  I got her scooped up and we cuddled while I made sure all parts were fine.  I swear, this cat and I get into more trouble together than my dogs and I ever did!

Otherwise, SSDD.  Will see Mom on Sunday.  I have to do a pickup order at Target, b/c they are the only place in town with Andes peppermint chips and I want Christmas cookies.  I dislike going into Target, a lot.  Is there anything else special I should get there?
  • I just saw this on my feed:

    “I want to be POP-u-laaaar” 🎶 🎼 🎵

you remind me that Trader Joes exists, @levioosa, I need to go there and I was JUST in the area this morning! I love the french onion soup & of course the all popular orange chicken.

  • Yes!  I saw the no singing rule and I'm thinking it's because of movies like Eras where it was pretty notorious for movie watchers to be up singing and dancing.
  • Oh @VarunaTT, I forgot to mention that I also picked up the breakfast sandwich maker you like.  So. i like it! But I think it’s just a glorified egg cooker.  I use pre cooked sausage patties but I have to cook them again before eating.  I don’t like them microwaved or warmed up in the maker.  It cooks my cheese slice all nice and crusty on the edges.  That part is good. But I’m also reluctant to put the English muffin on top of a raw egg.  I’ll have to buy canadian bacon after my sausage patties are gone.  Any secrets or tips?

  • The layering I use is (from the top of the machine down): bottom of English muffin put on the egg, canadian bacon, cheese for the top of English muffin.  Use a toothpick or something to break the yolk and spread it around before closing everything up.  Three and a half minutes minimum, up to 5 depending on how you like your egg cooked.  I like it more poached, so I usually do the three minutes and 30 seconds.

I haven't experimented with other meats yet, but the problem you mentioned is exactly what I've been worried about.  I really want to try and recreation of the Wendy's chicken breakfast sandwich that I like so much, and I found the precooked patties, but I'm afraid it won't warm it up enough OR I'll have to do some sort of timed system where i put the meat in first, then add other stuffs.

I did find the manual and I also would like to experiment with some deli sliced type meats too.  I have to admit to a hyperfixation on McDonald's Egg McMuffins, so I haven't tried anything else yet, but some of these look really good.

  • Prescriptions to pick up today at Walmart, plus some grocery shopping there.  Stop at the bank.  Fridays are my half-days, but lately I've been working almost full days.  But not today!  I'll be able to leave by noon.-ish.

My doctor switched my cholesterol medication on my last appointment.  My previous one was free with my insurance.  The new one is around $20 with my insurance.  I did my first fill at Walmart.  But I checked Amazon's Pharmacy about a week ago.  $2 with them!  So I switched my prescription over and that should be arriving in the mail today.

My H and I have other errands to run on Saturday.

Brunch with my friend on Sunday (unlimited mimosas, sangrias, bloody Marys for $25) for a belated celebration of my birthday.  I need to remind her about it today.  This place is popular all the time, but the weekends are extra bad and they don't take reservations.  I've been told we need to get there by 9am, to get a table for when the endless beverages begin at 10am.  That will be an earlier rise than what we are both used to on the weekends, lol.

  • My cousin who is a children's book author and illustrator is staying with us this weekend. He has been visiting schools in Indiana and has several in the area he will be going to on Monday. If any of you are interested in young (up to 2nd or 3rd grade) children's books here is his website: https://sammydogbooks.com (hmmm interesting it won't let it be a live link). Anyway the main character in the series is a dachshund who is an internet researcher and goes on adventures.

I'm almost done decorating. Garland for the banister is the last thing (other than the tree) to do today. We will do the tree the Saturday after Thanksgiving when the grandsons are here. I have altar guild this weekend so will be handling that. Cousin and H are going to a Pacer's game on Sunday. Cousin has a connection with a Simon (owner of the pacers) daughter and got two free tickets. I'll stay home and wrap presents because DS1 and DIL aren't going to be here at all over Christmas; therefore, I need to have the presents ready to go at Thanksgiving.

I've been in a lot of lower body pain recently. My back, hips and feet are killing me. I really don't know what is going on other than I've been decorating for Christmas so going up and down a lot of stairs and moving stuff. Ugh, getting old is not for the faint of heart.

I plan on going to see Wicked at some point. I really loved the play. I totally agree with the no singing. I hate it when I go to plays and people are singing. I have been known to shoot some really strong looks at people. I paid to hear the professionals not some shower singers.
