Prudie Day

How's everyone today?  Hoping everyone is staying warm and doing okay.

Re: Prudie Day

  • Fairly ssdd.  Balancing a couple kid events later but all super local at least.  I'm doing my first round of Christmas Cookie baking this weekend and I have to square away ingredients needed.
  • We’re snowed in. 2+ feet of two since last night. Driving ban, school closed, all the fun. H just took M and the dog outside. J and I are doing some Christmas shopping. Not a bad day besides the snowstorm and inability to leave our house!
  • We survived the ton of rain that hit yesterday with one blip of power loss of just seconds.  I'm grateful it wasn't a crazy time of needing DH to fire up the generator!

I'm still in purchase mode trying to figure out what to get for DH and the big gifts for the kids.  Next week we have something M-W nights: one nice dinner out as an annual event and each kid has their school concert.  THis weekend is a town parade and Chiquita has a big audition.   Last night I sat with her trying to get her to work on her Italian pronunciations for a song I literally sang almost 30 years ago.  How the time flies!

  • I gasped!  That's astounding!  It looks so cold, but I also would want to bundle up and play in it.

The wind is pretty so it’s really cold. I think the “real feel” temperature is -2, even though it’s 22. Still really effing cold. M was out for maybe 20 minutes until his cheeks got red. Baby J and I opted to stay by the fire inside.
  • That is so much snow!!

My midwestern coworkers said it was -2 this morning when they got in their cars and that's weather they can keep!
  • This is one of those days I'm thankful to be working from home.  It's -2 temp and like -22 wind chill.  Just a stray snow shower so nothing really on the ground.  Temps are to warm up but then we'll get some type of wintery mix Fri/Sat.  We are going to see DH's sister on Sunday so hoping things are clear by then.

We had our Christmas tree up for about 36 hours but decided to take it down because the cat wouldn't leave it alone.  It only had lights, but I purposely didn't put ornaments on until we knew how she's handle it.  So now we have a tree outside on the deck.  One of those LED spiral trees.  Not the same but nice changing colors.  Maybe next year she'll be a little more mature and leave an indoor tree alone.

Yesterday was a tough day with DH.  He's been in such a good mood lately that it kind of took me by surprise.  He seems a little more confused and then blames me for not explaining things clearly.  He says I need training on how to talk to a person with dementia and I better meet with someone.  I told him I was adjusting and learning but wouldn't always be perfect.  That wasn't good enough.  There were more issues but, needless to say, it was a pretty quiet night after that as neither of us felt like talking to each other.  I have a feeling this type of thing will become more frequent.  Ugh.

We have a big project at work launching just after the new year.  I'm up to my neck finishing my portions by next week.  I hate it when there is stress at work and stress at home.  No escaping it either way.

I'm making my puffcorn caramel corn this weekend and will hide it so we aren't tempted to eat it before Christmas!

  • I love the outfit Varuna! I want it!

Nothing much going on here. It's cold here, but not that bad. I'm cozy in my office with my hoodie and space heater. I finally got around to ordering our Xmas cards over the weekend, but it looks like they're not going to get here until late next week. I feel a little bad that they're going out so late. Otherwise, I'm just counting down days and ready for the break.
  • @MyNameIsNot I've bought cards for 3 years in a row and never actually gotten them sent out.  I think I just have to admit that I either need to just sign my name and move on, or stop trying to send them.  I do love getting them though, so it's totally unfair on my part.

I'm impressed with the quality of this.  I go back and forth with Lane Bryant and return a lot of things, but I'm happy with this.  I was worried that it would irritate my perimenopausal skin which is becoming such a big problem for me and it doesn't, it's just really soft.  The only thing I would like to have had is pockets in the top too, but the pockets on pants are nice, lined, and sized well.
  • Yeah waaaaaay to early for that much snow for me! We have really cold temps for the next two days but then it warms up.
    Cute outfit @VarunaTT
36 hour Christmas tree is sad @MNNEBride, sorry things are so stressful too
cookie exchange went great.  People made some good stuff. I threw out my leftover rum balls because nasty.

  • I started baking cookies yesterday - got one batch done. Today I did two more, and tomorrow I'll do one more before DD and her crew arrive. Saturday morning I'll do some cookies with the boy before going to the Christmas show downtown. I had my book club Christmas party on Tuesday. It was fun. Much laughter was needed. It has been a difficult year for our group - child loss, cancer diagnosis, back and knee surgeries and heart surgery for a spouse. We were all glad to be together.

@MNNEBride, sorry about the difficult evening with your H. Will be thinking of you as you navigate your world. @charlotte989875 that is a ton of snow! I would not be happy. When it got so cold here last week, I just stayed inside in front of the fire. We have had a little snow so far but just a dusting - enough to make the woods pretty for a while.
