Re: prudie day

  • I went to bed and woke up w/ a scratchy throat.  Chiquita has been horking up phlegm all week and this wasn't one of DH's symptoms so I'm pounding fluids and hopeful this doesn't migrate.  His symptoms came on fast so I'm still trying but today I think I'm not going to eat with the kids.

I'm grumpy that this is the situation that we're in and frustrated with DH that he actively or passively chose not to be vaccinated and now we're in this situation.   I am trying to guard against saying something snippy which I can do so instead I haven't spoken to him.
  • Nooo @banana468 Healing vibes your way!

Work today. I was having some weird dreams last night and the details are a little fuzzy now but the funk remains. Not too bad, but it's there. Mainly I'm just tired.

Otherwise SSDD. Planning out my weekend. We're going to my Grandparents house and that's going to be physically and mentally draining.

  • @levioosa I'm hopeful that if this doesn't change it's what Chiquita is dealing w/ as I've hardly spent time with DH at all this week.

  • I love holiday cards in January, @Casadena! I used to work for a guy who intentionally skipped christmas cards and did valentines instead. Our business was pretty dead in January, so it was a good time to get them done. (It was from the company, so he wanted the staff to sign them.)

I'm sick to death of being cold. It's supposed to get a little warmer this afternoon, but I just can't seem to get myself warm. I'm going on a retreat weekend thing with my book club this weekend and I just know the cabin is going to be freezing. And apparently we're doing a sunrise hike on a day where the low is in the teens. I need warmer clothes.

  • @MyNameIsNot I am also tired of being cold.  I was just discussing that with my mother.  Also, I have a dream that you are "queenofthedimes" who is a Black woman attorney who does family law in Atlanta and she is freaking hysterical on Threads.  She's getting ready to start a podcast about her experiences in family law.

I took tomorrow off and I'm so glad I did.  Not for any big reason, I just feel like I need some alone and no pressing activities time.

    Otherwise, SSDD.

I love this! I want to hear her podcast!

I did actually practice family law in Atlanta suburbs, but as a white lady. It was mostly a lot of shitty parents who preferred to spend a ton of money on lawyers versus paying for their kids' stuff.
  • Her stories range from hysterical to WTactualF.  The holiday stories are the best.  She's had client end up in jail over holiday issues.  She was getting so many followers on Threads, she did a poll asking about a podcast and everyone was like YES PLEASE!!!
  • Cold and snowy here. M sneezed in my face (accidentally) two days ago and my throat started to hurt towards the end of the day. Really hoping it’s just from the poor heat in our building. Was at the office twice this week and that’s about the right number of days for driving through the snow!

I'll post Prudie this morning unless @mrsconn23 hops on and gets to it first! Glad you've been around more, we've missed you!

We got king cakes delivered to my office yesterday (we have major operations just outside New Orleans). It was plain, which is my fave, so i enjoyed both breakfast and dessert after lunch!

The family got out of the house approximately on time this morning which is fantastic. I get very stressed if i'm not sitting at my desk by 8am. This weather is throwing work into a tizzy - i'm in an oil/gas adjacent industry and the severe cold can really impact operations. So basically on call for the next week.

Finally sent some Holiday cards this morning, woops. I got them a bit late and just forgot about them during the craziness of the holidays. So people will get a nice January surprise, lol.

Book club tonight and looking forward to it! I liked the book a lot this month - we read "Mad Honey" by Jodi Piccoult. She's not a go to of mine, but i really enjoyed this one.
I haven't read that one and I am a Piccoult fan (even though I haven't liked all that I've read). I'll have to put it on my list. I just finished The Phoenix Crown by Kate Quin and  Janie Chang. I usually love Kate Quin but this one was hard to get into. I did like it by the end but it was a struggle. This was the first of hers that is co written with someone else so that may have played a part in it. I highly recommend her other books though.
  • Thanks @ILoveBeachMusic i'll have to try that one! I also have really liked all of Kate Quin's books that i've read so far!
