Pizza and a movie night this evening. DS loves those "I Survived.." books and recently finished the Titanic one. Keeps asking to watch the movie. I finally agreed (selfishly, it's one of my favorites, even if it's cliche). And I'll just fast forward through the car scene. Like any longer movie we'll watch it over a couple of nights.
Tomorrow is busy with kid stuff but Sunday and Monday are pretty open and hoping they stay that way. The house needs a scrub, I'll do some cooking, and we're allegedly getting a significant snowfall Sunday into Monday so it's nice to be off the extra day.

Hoping for a quiet workday today. Feeling a bit hung over after a few glasses of wine at book club last night. I've been cutting out drinking at home and feeling really good but thinking maybe i need to just cut it out altogether. I'm realizing that i maybe just don't have the right personality/mindset for occasional drinking and i almost always regret it the next day. Book club was super fun though! I love this group and am feeling a little more comfortable inserting myself and trying to be more friendly with them outside of this.

Weekend should be fun! Going to SIL's house tomorrow to just hang with their family for awhile - we didn't see them over the holidays because they were all sick. MIL/FIL are coming over Sunday morning for brunch and hanging out. Boys have school Monday but we are both off - i booked a Spa day and am so freaking excited. Massage, sauna, hand/foot something or other and a stretch session. I can't wait.

FRIYAY! I was up and at 'em early because I had therapy and then an interview. Therapy was great, interview was fine...I am definitely not interested in the job. But yay practice.

BUTTTT, I am moving forward with the 'dream' job I interviewed for yesterday. I'm about to explode from excitement and nerves. I have some skills tests to take and then I will hopefully be scheduled for another interview with management and some other people.

FIL had a minor surgery this week, so I think DH and DefConn are bringing him dinner and hanging out with him tonight. Tomorrow, I'm probably having lunch with a friend and then going to see Moulin Rouge (the musical). Sunday, watching football, I guess.

My bday is less than a week away, which is impossible because Christmas was last week. LOL

Work today. I have a laser hair removal appointment tomorrow in the morning and then we are going to my grandparent's house. We ultimately can't be there very long anyways because restrictions and curfews are still in effect. They are so lucky their home survived. Homes below them burned which were even further away from the mountain.

Sunday I plan on just recovering from the week and from clean up. Not to much else is exciting over here.

I came into work today and saw an exciting e-mail. The big boss e-mailed all of us a snapshot of the weather conditions for the next few days. With the words that, since it will be below freezing with ice/sleet and a possibility of snow on Tuesday, we could WFH if we wanted to. Though the office would be open. Heck yeah!!!!

I was planning to request that on Monday anyway, but it's nice to just be given carte blanche permission.

My WFH days area already Mondays/Wednesdays. So now the only days I have to come into the office next week are Thursday and my half-day Friday.

Come on, Mother Nature. Give us enough snow to at least cover the ground and stick for a bit. I want to introduce my dog to snow! See her reaction and we can play in it for a little while.

After work today, I have contacts and a prescription to pick up. I have a good coupon for Little Caesar's I'm planning to use, BOGO . They don't have those close enough to me, but there is one near my eye doctor. The prescriptions are at Walmart and I also have a bunch of returns to make.

It's a long weekend for pretty much everyone here because Atlanta and I'm really excited about it. My book club is doing our annual getaway weekend at this adventure outdoor place that has zip lining and horseback riding and a bunch of hiking and stuff. It's going to be cold and a little rainy, but hopefully we'll get to enjoy the activities. I'm really just looking forward to a girls' weekend away.

I have to share this weird scam thing that my friend told me about yesterday. She was in Target and a youngish man came up to her, using a translator app to ask where the bathroom is. She spoke into the phone to translate and pointed to the front of the store. He then played something back on the phone using her voice to say something awful and racist, and started trying to provoke her to react. That's when she noticed that there was someone else in the aisle recording the exchange. She's a very calm person to begin with, so didn't visibly react and walked away. They didn't follow her and nothing came of it that she knows of, but my guess is the goal is to make a video looking like a lady screaming racist things at a random stranger, and then try to extort money to delete it? I knew scammers were using deep fakes with scam calls, but apparently it's gotten good enough to do instantly. I fucking hate that we live in a world where you have to think about being nice to strangers.

@Casadena, so happy you’re liking this group. Making friends as adults isn’t easy but it looks like you’re easing into it.

I have been slammed at work the last few days. Even today, which is odd for a Friday. But I had to take a break because my wfh setup isn’t so comfortable. I have all of next week off. Cruise time! Could we have planned it any better? Chicago is also going into the negatives next week. I have a pedicure tonight and an oil change tomorrow and that’s IT. No other plans. People have been asking me since last Saturday if I’ve packed yet. I will pack the night before. I’m not overly panicky on packing. Just worry about toiletries which I have to use the day up to anyway. And I always forget something in that category.

Question. Looks like TikTok will be banned on Sunday. I don’t have TT but I live and die by FB reels. Are those all TT’s? Or insta or it’s own thing? Honestly, I do get sucked into reel holes but I do learn a lot from them. It used to be make up tutorials but then it went to narc feeds and now relationship feeds. Sometimes some kids and cat videos get thrown in.

Good Morning!

Feeling relatively unchanged from yesterday with maybe a feeling like what's in my throat is trying to break up? I certainly am NOTHING like DH so I'm calling it a good sign as he started to feel off and went down the tubes fast. Pounding fluids and all my water has a full lemon squeezed. Knock on wood kiddos are OK and Chiquita even made my "couch bed" last night as I've been sleeping downstairs to stay away from Sicky McSnotface (Who is improving and now is like he has the end of a cold).

I spaced on putting notes in the program for Chiquito's show so I'm buying chocolates and more chocolates.

@CharmedPam - Reels are not TikToks, but they are the same format of short videos. A lot of creators post the same or similar content on TT and as reels. So banning TT won't necessarily change reels, but creators who rely on TT for income might stop producing as much content. I don't think you can make an income on reels in the same way.

Or everyone might migrate to red note and it might not matter.

I have caught whatever daycare virus the boys had ; sore throat and tired. Will take a Covid test but I think I’m okay. Work is also wildly busy here. I hired two new managers and can’t wait until they start!

M has a birthday party tomorrow; they all get so excited for them so that’s our big outing for the weekend. It’s cold and snowy.

@CharmedPam If you haven't been on TikTok then you have no idea what you're missing from only using instagram Reels lol. It is not nearly the same and after using Tiktok I hate Reels now.

I have thoughts and feelings about RedNote in general, but I totally understand the sentiment that "American oligarchs and government have my data, why not the Chinese government?" I am dying at the fact that Zuckerberg's greed is a huge reason the TikTok ban happened, and now people are ditching Meta altogether if they can't have Tiktok in favor of a Chinese government run app.
