How do you know which dress is THE ONE??

I just started shopping for dresses a week ago and I have 6 months left.  :(   Most stores told me that I'm okay, but I need to order soon.  So .. I gave myself 2 weeks to look.  Last week, I visited 5 stores.  Saw probably 6-7 dresses that I like.

I went shopping alone last week just to scan for my favorites.  Then my sister (MOH) will be flying in from FL to help me make a decision .. and she'll be here only for 2 days .. so .. I'm short on time.

So here is my questions to you guys .. what did you do when you have several favorites????  What's your process of elimination?  How do you know which one is the one?  Soooo tough!

I still have 1 week left to shop before my sis gets here.  Should I continue looking while I'm waiting?  I'm afraid that it would just add more favorites to my list!  :D  Then it would be hard to decide later on.

I went to 4 different stores to just keep looking for the style/couple dresses that I liked.  I put one on and everyone really liked it and said it was number 1 so far.  It was the first dress at the shop, so I tried on a bunch more.  I narrowed it down to 2 dresses to try on again.  I tried on the first dress and realized it was definitely everything that I wanted, and then the tears came.  I didn't have that feeling until I tried it on again though.  The first time it was yeah, I could def see myself with the dress on, but there still could be something else here.

Totally up to you, personally, I would wait until she got here because you don't want to have that moment without her.  It's a really special moment that is amazing to be apart of.  I was there with my BM when she picked out her wedding dress and it was just a beautiful moment.

For me it was when I found a dress that flattered my figure, made me feel beautiful and I couldn't stop looking at it. I'm a very emotional person but I never had tears when dress shopping. I'm very happy with my choice but I wouldn't doubt that there may be something that I'd like better, but I love the style, the price was great and I could really picture myself wearing it in wedding photos. If you can't stop smiling and you feel like it looks better on you than the model in the designer's photos then it's probably the one :)

I had a few dresses I loved.  I finally chose the one I did based on the weight and style.  Being that we are getting married in July in Maui I knew it is going to be hot, hot and I didn't want to worry about having a dress that trapped in heat.  I know I'm going to be hot anyway, but I prefer not to add to it!

Then I realized I didn't want a ball gown, and I didn't want chiffon as it overwhelmed my body, so it narrowed it down to 'the' dress!

This! My fmil & sis both agree the model looked weird in my dress. I honestly bought my dress after 2 hours and only one store but im not a big shopper, its kind of a pain & overwhelms me. My sister teared up when i tried 'the one' on & it was the last one outta probably 12 i tried on. Im pretty petite & a lot of the dresses i thought id love looked bad on me, so try on a lot of varieties! I still sometimes wonder if i couldve found better or shouldve looked more but im happy overall & will feel even better once i tone up more.

I agree so much with breaness and sparklegirl. I chose the one that made me feel like a bride. I wasn't a big shopper when shopping for my wedding dress either. I knew if I kept looking then I would confuse myself so I just tried maybe 12 and kept narrowing it down. I found out later me and my sister liked the same one like right away.

I did the exact same thing Sarah did. You just know when it's THE dress. I actually had laughed when other brides started crying in their dresses until it happened to me.

I went out multiple times over the course of 2 months. I actually found my dress the first day - tears and all, but I wasn't ready to commit so soon. Each time I went out I kept comparing every dress to the way I felt in "the one", and each time it came time to taking it off I didn't want to. There were things I thought I would always want in my wedding dress i.e corset back, the bubbled bottom....... after searching out all the things I wanted in the dress, trying different ones on, I always came back to this one and decided I didn't want to change a thing about this one.

I say try on everything you think you want and all of the styles you pictured yourself in and you will probably find that one or maybe two will stand out to you after it's all said and done. You may find that once your sisters there, you may also have that moment because it will be special and shared with you sister.

It's different for everyone.  I tried on over 100 dresses and never had a BAM THIS IS IT moment.  About 50% were heck no, and 50% were 'hey this could work'.  I realized it was the one when I started comparing everything else to it.  No tears, no EEEK, no nothing.  I didn't get that feeling until my final fitting when the entire outfit came together.  :)
