Wedding Woes

Winter Wednesday

Good morning, WW!  How's the weather for everyone?

School here was closed.  We have a couple of inches on the ground.  When I last looked, it was still snowing.  The main thing is we're expecting "snow storms" later.  Basically the sky "rains" ice and snow for us.  It makes driving very treacherous.  I already saw the plow go by, which surprised me; they usually wait until after a snow storm to do that, b/c the base of snow, then ice, usually means they can get the roads clear.  I'm thankful to be WFH on days like this.

No big news for today, just working and trying to stay warm.  Harley is having a goblin day.  She was rubbing herself all over my computer cords, purring and chirping at me.  Then the teeth came out.  So, she's been spritzed already this morning.  I honestly think she's just jealous of my attention at the computer.  But I remind her every day, she's a bougie kitty and I have to work for her food and litterbox.

My logical brain is telling me I'm going to have to cancel my OOT trip, b/c this storm, another one forecasted for Saturday, and Tuesday -- basically all my driving days.  But I don't WANT to, so I'm still waiting to make the call.

Re: Winter Wednesday

  • WHF home today. School are closed but G woke up feeling better so that's a win - hoping no fever spikes today so he can go to school tomorrow. Feels very COVID reminiscent where we're both trying to work a little with 2 kids at home and trading meetings. N was up for a long time in the middle of the night for some reason so i'm dragging a bit today. Hoping school is still accessible with our key cards bc we left the boys boots there and they want to play in the snow this afternoon.

Jury Duty tomorrow and i think (hope) book club tomorrow night is getting postponed.

Smart to play it by ear - snow on the actual travel days could definitely be dicey.  If you postpone, I hope it can be rescheduled fairly seamlessly, I know you were looking forward to it.

We ended up with 4" of snow overnight which means school is in session and no delayed opening, just the way I like it.  To be fair the plows and salt were out in force and the roads were fine.  I skipped my 5am workout to shovel but definitely broke into a sweat so I'm counting it as a sort of work out day lol.

The second shift will be busy, DD has counseling and all the kids are performing in the district string night, but bc it's all of them I'll actually have some solo time sitting alone in the audience (they remain with their ensembles even when they're not on stage) and I look forward to the quiet time (pretty good string music a bonus).

ETA - @Casadena I'm glad that G is feeling better today
  • Recovery vibes to everyone! I hope you all stay safe in the snow and ice!

It is supposed to rain here the next three days so of course the roads are going to be a mess. I am sleeepy today. My fault, because I stayed up late. Yesterday was a rough work day. I'm trying to have some oomph but I'm not feeling any. My kitty was so cuddly this morning it made it hard to get up.

    Otherwise SSDD.

  • It’s cold and snowy here but it’s also Buffalo in February. Baby J still not sleeping so I’m still very tired.

I think I shared I used to work in our DEI Office; my last project was hiring a consultant to help us redevelop our strategy- we were excited, it was going well, and we just got notice from legal we have to pause work because of the nonsense. I just … sucks.
  • Okay maybe I'm underestimating the storm coming. We might get 4-8 inches of rain tomorrow. Probably not, because I feel like they always overestimate things but we'll see.

    That's so shitty @charlotte989875
