Welp, I'm here working.  It's okay, fingers crossed BFF can get here this weekend.  He said his mom is doing better, so we're looking good.

I had a great time at the rave.  A few funnies:  when we first got there, I was very like "Are these all children?"  and assumed I was being rude and kept it to myself.  Then E leaned over and said, Are we at a high school dance?, so I felt better.  Other funny story, I had taken an edible.  I took the right one for the evening, I was floaty and giggly and just jamming.  I walked into the restroom.  There is a white wall in front of me and a white wall to the left of me, bright white.  I look to my right and see a black stall door that has a big number "1" on it and is slightly ajar.  In my state, I had a split second thought of, "Is this finally the magic door?"  Started walking towards it and that's when the rest of the restroom opened up to my left.  I said, OOOOHHHH really loudly and then went it.  I think i laughed at myself for a solid 10 minutes.  Also the "kids" all looked like 80s and 90s prep and I looked like a 90s club kid, so that was totally comfortable since that's what the 90s were like for me.  :smiley:

Otherwise the weekend was relaxing and a lot of down time, since I had prepped things for me to be gone.  Mom and I did find a light fixture we both liked on Friday, so that was really nice.  It actually is part of the collection for the big one she has in her living room, so they will be similarly styled, but different.  Mom's is on top, mine is on bottom (got the tilted one so you can see the shape).

How was everyone else's weekend?

Re: Monday

  • Nice!!

    Saturday was the last home meet of the season for the HS fencing team.  Chiquita won 4 out of 6 bouts including a redemption bout against the girl she came in 4th to in the tournament 2 weeks prior.  She was GLOWING.

    I started to talk to DH and we are pushing the kids on more chores they need to do which is really necessary.  I was still making their beds and it's too much!  So last night they were on their own taking care of that and DH was on dinner duty.

    Yesterday was the Daytona 500 which was on from about 1 until 9 including the POTUS time where DH could hear my comments from the kitchen.   The optics of driving The Beast around the big oval while commenting about the need for drastic cuts would have been funny if they're not playing roulette with people's lives.

    Today I'm working too and currently frozen while Chiquito is at an indoor baseball camp and I'm working in the car.
  • It's a normal Monday here too. Schools are closed, but pretty much everything else is business as usual. Weekend was really good! I ended up going out for a last minute galentine's meetup with a couple of my besties from my early 20s. I still prefer to keep them in small doses, but I love that we're still in each other's lives. Otherwise just chores and hanging out with H.
  • DS2 had his offer accepted on the house he wanted. We are so excited for him. We have been talking him through a lot of stuff. The inspection is Wednesday with 30 day closing. He has a lot to do in the next month and we are out of town for a good portion of it. I have been scouring FB Marketplace for furniture for him. I offered to do that knowing he doesn't have time during the day to do that. I also enjoy doing that kind of thing.

    Weekend was good. We went out to dinner Saturday night. We went to Tupelo Honey which is a southern cooking kind of place. I had shrimp and grits which were yummy - not too spicy which is my main complaint with most s&g. Originally it wasn't a super spicy dish but in recent years has become very spicy. I brought leftover grits home to have with an over easy egg yesterday for breakfast. We also had a fried green tomato app that was delicious. Dessert was a huge disappointment. We ordered banana pudding and it was more like banana sauce. There was no custard just a vanilla sauce with wafers and sliced banana. I want a custard as my banana pudding. I'll know better next time.
  • Ow ow @VarunaTT, I couldn’t post yesterday but that outfit was fire! No wonder why you love that wig.

  • @VarunaTT, I'm glad you had fun at the rave!  I like your new light fixture.  It's neat it's the same general theme as the one your mom already has, but with its own style.

    @banana468, congrats to Chiquita!

    @ILoveBeachMusic, congrats to DS2!  I hope the inspection goes well.  Make sure to warn him the inspection will mark up every, little thing that is wrong no matter how minor and unimportant.  I was glad my realtor warned me about that the first time I bought I real estate.  Because at first glance, it makes it look like the house is a disaster when there are dozens of things listed, lol.

    Shrimp and grits is a really popular dish down here in New Orleans, though it isn't usually spicy even though a lot of our food is.  But I also haven't had it recently.  It's like they forgot the main component of banana pudding, lol.
