I'm glad we're almost at the end of this week. I'm tired of being cold and just want to hibernate under the covers all day. It's supposed to get up to the glorious temperature of 15 degrees today, no idea of the wind chill. This might also be the thing that takes away my vaping habit, b/c I don't want to go out for refills (it's my last real vice and I've let it stay until other things are doing better).

BFF has already said he isn't coming for the weekend. He's worried about leaving his mom and I understand. Sucks, but such is adulthood.

No other real news. How's everyone doing out there?

It's cold (for us) here too. It's barely supposed to get over freezing and that's just gross. In really fun work stuff, outlook has decided not to allow me to see my boss's availability on the scheduler thing. I can see everyone else and everyone else can see her, but she's blocked for me. I tried turn it off and turn it on again, but apparently I'm going to have to call help desk and I think I'd rather go outside naked in 15 degrees than talk to those idiots. So yeah.

It's not even 10 am and I need a nap.

@MyNameIsNot, us too. Meh. We're in the low 30s but the "feels like" temp is low 20s, I assume because of all the moisture in the air and it's also pretty windy. But it was supposed to be pouring rain today and thankfully that changed. Tomorrow morning is the same and I have to come into the office on both of these days.

I saw a crazy picture of Detroit. A 52" water main broke and flooded some streets. But then the flood waters froze and peoples' cars are trapped in ice all the way up to the bottom of the windows.

I WFH yesterday. It was such a slow day, I spent the last couple hours snuggled on the couch watching tv. I had my computer on and visible jic someone needed something, but it was a lovely and relaxing day. Today should be even slower, but then it's less lovely when I'm stuck at the office without much to do, lol.

@MyNameIsNot, our help desk sucks too. I swear they put me on hold or “call back” after googling the answer.

Last night was a lot of fun. Our meetup group of 7 ladies went head to head for a first place tiebreaker with a table of about 25 men. Well, I think they said they split their table in 2. But on a tie breaker Q, I’m sure they all helped each other out. They won by guessing the year closer than we did, but I’m proud of my lil group!

Nothing much here today. It's been weirdly hot the last two days (sorry everyone suffering in sub freezing temps). My uncle flies in today to stay with my grandparents for a week. I did do a walk last night. Debating again today if I should try and work out or just go home and rest. I do not want to check my cortisol anytime soon. I'm sure it's through the roof.

Otherwise, SSDD. Yesterday was incredibly draining at work. I almost went home and I was very tempted to call off today. The only thing bringing me in is knowing that PTO is limited and I might need to use a lot very soon.

I'm trying to think of some fun things to do this year to have some positive moments set up. I'm thinking of things like cooking classes or a pottery class.

Hey everyone. I'll catch up on the last few days.

I did end up going to the comedy show last friday but H was sick so my cousin went with me. super fun! Then Saturday i did a bunch of stuff with the kids in the morning but totally crashed in the afternoon. H and I both got knocked out with flu A and are still struggling. My parents came in Tuesday to help with dinners and getting ready for school type stuff, it is so nice - staying through the weekend. At this rate, we're likely going to miss our other fundraiser gala on Saturday - I'm super bummed. 3 years in a row someone has been sick and we can't go.

Very ready to feel better.

It’s 18 degrees, feels like 6 which is warmer than the 8 degrees feels like -12 we’ve had the last few days. I’m exhausted, baby J is going through a rough sleep phase so I’m going through a rough sleep phase.

Someone in one of my teams made some mistakes, big ones, then took off on unscheduled PTO. So it’s been a day. And the work he was doing is for a tight, hard deadline. I’m just so tired. And he’s someone who should know better.

Ooof. For our team we have to have it in ADP so if I had a direct report that left without it it would be an unapproved absence. I'm sorry you have a team of people who are essentially pushing you to see how far you'll respond to your authority being questioned.

Gotcha. So he's either slimy or a bad communicator neither of which are great signs.
