Back to work and school over here.  Which is okay.  Nothing wrong with a routine.

The kids' summer art camp registration opened up today (at midnight).  I didn't set an alarm for 12 the way some parents do, but I did happen to wake up at 12:35 to use the bathroom, so I logged on and signed them up anyway.  Success - the kids all got their first choices for each session.  But (and I'm a big believer in no screens before bedtime) the brightness of the phone or the adrenalin of sign ups must've woken me up, because I didn't fall asleep until after 3.  Womp womp.  Did some tossing and turning and had some half-awake weird dreams with exH, he's been off which I let myself get thrown off by.  But hoping for a smooth day and better sleep tonight.

edit - Happy belated birthday @MNNEBride!
  • Thanks for the birthday wishes.  It's Wednesday.  I'll be 48.  It feels weird, NGL.  I didn't have the best childhood and honestly never believed I'd make it past my 20s, much less looking at a half century of life.  I don't mind getting older, but the physical aging process itself can go TF away.

The weekend was sunshine and some warmth, finally,  My apartment is settled in at 65 and I'm so happy about it.  Ended up spending most of Saturday with a friend who was having some car issues and needed some help.  We had a good time, went out for lunch, and watched an old F1 race so I could talk his face off about F1.  He has a HUGE TV and I've threatened to watch all F1 races at his place.  He just shrugged and laughed that football was over, so he didn't care.

Otherwise, SSDD.  Have an errand to run for mom this evening, so I'll do that and have dinner with her.
  • FINALLY had a day to sleep in!  Saturday I had to get Chiquita to the high school for 7 AM and after I did I got home and slept for about 2 and a half more hours.  It was GLORIOUS.

Saturday night we did dinner and a movie and watched The Princess Bride.  The youngest had never seen it and it went over well!  Sunday AM I was up early for church and book club and spent the afternoon doing my traditional sheet laundry.  Another week in and the kids are making their own beds.  It sounds dumb that I kept doing it  but now I'm grateful for that time back.

  • Thank you for the birthday wishes.  My birthday gift to myself was a morning to myself.  Saturday, I went to check out a craft show that I want to sell at in November.  I wanted to get the lay of the land, see how folks displayed, check my phone reception and such.  Then I went to Burlington & Ross stores which opened here last fall.  I picked up my birthday cake and came home to prepare for family coming in the afternoon.  It was nice.  Sunday I got out for groceries and a long wait in the car wash line.  The weather has been gorgeous.  Sunny and in the 40s.  So nice for February.

A friend is in town this week helping her mom.  She wants to bring dinner over on Tuesday night, so that will be nice.  My brother is coming Wednesday afternoon to do some handyman stuff.

Last week we were told we are going to have a new reporting structure at work.  Our supervisor will now be reporting to a manager and then the administrator.  She reports directly to the administrator now.  As part of the process, team members are going to be contacted by HR for "Climate Assessment Interviews".  This is fine but I've only heard of them in regards to concerns about a supervisor, so not sure if that's what's going on here.  The supervisor is a lovely person and I like them a lot.  However, their management style and skills could use some work.  The info shared in the interview is supposed to be anonymous, but there's always a hesitation to be fully open.  We'll see.

  • Weekend was fine. Nothing exciting. Today was spin class and we have church book club tonight. Unfortunately I just broke a tooth! I've never done that before. Luckily my dentist can get me in this afternoon. I don't know what will happen. It was a pretty good size chunk that came off. Probably a crown I guess. It really feels weird having a hole in my gum line.
  • Oh @Casadena, that's scary!  I'm glad he's doing better.  Big healthy vibes
  • Oh @Casadena it's so scary (as you know!) when you have a loved one in the hospital.  I hope he's on the mend and home soon!

After getting a form from the charity that is involved w/ Chiquita's AI disease I decided to take the link supplied and reach out to my Congressman and Senators to tell them I do not support the cuts to the NIH research.  I'm lucky to live in a blue state and to have Chris Murphy as a vocal Senator but I feel like it's more important now to use my voice as my child's strongest supporter.
  • @Casadena - sending healing vibes to your DH and family!

  • @casadena I’m so sorry! I hope you both recover quickly! Poor DH.

  • Weekend was okay. My mother is going to send me into orbit but I’m trying to keep it together. I put my foot down and refused to do anything or go anywhere yesterday and I feel a little bad about it but it was so nice to do literally nothing. I spent the whole day in my PJs. For a brief moment I gathered my energy and cleaned our fridge before returning to become one with the couch. But otherwise it was a fat load of nothing all day and I needed it. Today is busy with appointments.

    Anyone watching White Lotus?

    image
  • @levioosa White Lotus is on our list.  We are mid SNL 50th Anniversary concert (I think it's taken us 4 nights to finish) so Severance and White Lotus are next.
  • @levioosa, I keep being tempted by White Lotus, but haven't started it yet.

@Casadena, I'm so sorry to hear your H is in the hospital!  I'm glad he's starting to do better and hope you can come home soon.  I hope you feel better also!
    Wedding Countdown Ticker
  • @short+sassy White Lotus is an easy watch IMO.   It's got the couple drama, flawed character and 1st two seasons Jennifer Coolidge!
  • @casadena, sorry to hear! Hope he’s getting better?

white lotus is awesome. But they don’t release it all at once right? I’m a binge watcher.
Another good series I got into (2 seasons) on netflix is “fake profile”.  It’s in AI voice over but doesn’t bother me (I know it bothers some)
