To get or not to get a videographer

I want a videographer but frankly do not want to spend over 3,000 dollars for one but I fear that I may regret not getting one. What should I do?

Re: To get or not to get a videographer

  • I didn’t get one. I haven’t regretted it. I’ve been too busy enjoying actual life with my H to want to relive that one day over and over via video. The pictures have been fun to look at and for the kids to look at, and those have been perfectly adequate for memories.
  • I am a retired photographer after 13 years and hundreds of weddings.  If videography isn't a high priority, I've seen something that works better than no video.  Put a GoPro on a tripod stand and point it at the chair where you're getting ready, the altar, at the first dance, and so on.  Get small microphones and pin them to the dress, the tux, and other places to record sound.  There's lots of inexpensive video editing apps to bring together the sounds and videos.  It won't be a professional video, and no closeups, but with good lighting it will still bring a tear to your eye many years from now.
