Mother's Day was hectic but nice. I went to my parents' while DH and Chiquito stayed home so he could be set for baseball. DH and the kids gave me presents (I still have 3 cannoli leftover - they're in chocolate covered shells so they are lasting!) and Chiquito's team tied!
Yesterday Chiquito had another game so it was another busy night getting him to his game and Chiquita to fencing practice.
After DH didn't feel well AGAIN so last night I went over his body with a flashlight to look for bullseyes checking for Lyme. Didn't find a bullseye but did see a very odd spot on his leg so that's been photographed and sent off to the doc.
Aaaand as of last night we're a family where we are Santa and Elves but now understand how the magic works. Chiquito had major tears, needed HUGE hugs and a half hour after realizing that the Elves, Santa and the Easter Bunny were us he realized that the tooth fairy was too and...man I knew it was coming but the kid can break your heart with his pouty lip and sad eyes.
I forgot to tell you guys the weird thing that happened this weekend. I was driving home at night, maybe around 9 pm? Not super late. I had to stop at a neighborhood stoplight and I noticed the vehicle behind me pulled up really close. I was kind of mentally cursing them. The light turned green, I pulled away, and they stayed that close. I was looking through my side mirrors to see if it was a cop and I didn't see any white on the dark SUV. Then they turned off their headlights! and I could no longer see them at all. I was still looking at the mirrors, surprised, when I heard all the voices of the Black women I follow on Threads and other social media platforms, telling me to get my a$$ the eff out of there! So I hit the gas and gunned it to the next stoplight where there were actual streetlights and another car. When I did that, they stayed where they were. I saw the headlights come back on and they did a U-turn. IDK WTH that was, but it freaked me out. I called my buddy and he stayed on the phone with me until I was behind the locked door of my apartment.
Otherwise, there's not a lot going on. I slept all through the night, which was shocking. I woke up feeling rested though, even if I did have to immediately run to the restroom. I'll be in training all day tomorrow. I'm not looking forward to it, but I am looking forward to the new software and no more virtual machine for work!
Yikes @VarunaTT how bizarre. I would have been totally freaked out too.
@banana468 sorry to hear DH is still not feeling well. Hopefully you guys can get some answers and relief soon.
Boys are at very fun ages right now and I'm getting more and more settled with not having any more kiddos. We always planned on 3-4 but after medical trauma, fertility struggles, etc it's just really nice to enjoy the dudes getting older and not having be watching them literally every second of every day. THey're getting independent and are so fun to to hang out with
I have golf league tonight for work and looking forward to the exercise and company in the overcast 70+ weather. Have a work meeting and lunch today and have already scoped out my order. New restaurant for me and excited to try.
That is SO scary @VarunaTT, I’m glad you’re okay Awww at Chiquito’s latest discoveries @banana468 The getting-more-independent age is awesome @Casadena, glad you’re getting there!
Crazy morning at work. The twins’ spring concert is this evening. I guess pretty ssdd otherwise.
Terrifying Tuesday for you for sure @VarunaTT (although this happened over the weekend) sorry the magic is now gone for kiddos @banana468 @Casadena I bet you just love enjoying the time with them. They sound like such great kids
I booked another vacation. Lol. So I have 2 small road trips in June and July, Canada in July, Canadian cruise in September, now a historical south trip in October and Europe in November. This year is my year of musicals/shows and travel. I need to make 2026 my year of my last tat before I change my mind on getting one. Or, at the least have zero money for one. Haha.
Tomorrow I need to run to home depot and get some potting soil and seeds. I am NOT a planter by any means but last year I got a huge deep planting pot near my door and some pretty flowers will look nice. Any recs for flowers that do well in pots and can get both sun and shade?
@VarunaTT, I'm glad you're okay. What a scary experience. @banana468, sorry for Chiquito. I hope your husband is better soon.
Just working today, not much else going on. Going to dinner tonight with an acquaintance who gets these deals from local restaurants to act as a mystery customer. She got one for tonight at a restaurant in downtown Houston. I've been there with her before but the service is mixed and it's not a cheap place. So my expectations are low. I hope it's worth it tonight.
That is super scary @VarunaTT! So glad you are ok. Such a rite of passage @banana468, it is sad for the parents. We never even discussed it with DS2 so as far as I know he still believes at 31 lol! Hope you can figure out what is going on with H. That's a lot of travel @CharmedPam. Sounds fun. Enjoy those boys @Casadena.
I've been looking a shirts to get the grandsons for family pictures at the beach next month. It is difficult to coordinate 8 people (or 10 when DS1 and DIL join us). I think I have some contenders though. I've been dealing with a headache today so haven't done much other than working out and a chiropractor appointment.
LOL @ILoveBeachMusic! That nearly reminds me of the scenes in Friends when Ross is still seeing his pediatrician and gets a lollipop at his visit.
I'm sad but this is a rite of passage and it's time for Chiquito to know. I'd hate to see him teased because he wants to hold on and he found out in a safe space at the table with DH and me. So...as sad as it is to burst a bubble he's still getting Christmas presents, and now he can be a creator in the magic.
That’s so scary @VarunaTT. I’m glad you’re okay. I had that happen to me once in the days pre-cell phone. I was just a teen and was so scared but had my wits about me enough to drive to the police station and the second I got near it they pulled around and sped away.
That’s terrifying @varunatt, so glad pure safe. All the hugs @banana468 for Chiquito. Glad he was home with you all but still an end of an era.
Things are fine here. Nothing new, J sick again, M is super funny making up stories about his Dino’s me what they’re doing. They’re also at a fun age @Casadena- M was so excited that J is finally big enough for them to have bath time together!
