DD had a very happy 11th birthday. All of her favorite foods, her sweet friends at school decorated her locker, exH FaceTimed twice, morning and evening, with birthday greetings, and she enjoyed her gifts. Mom win with all this rain is that the girls' softball game was canceled yesterday and DS's hike with the boy scouts this evening is canceled too, woohoo.
Chiquito's baseball game ended wet last night. I threw on my raincoat and pulled the sunshade over my head in my park chair to help the wetness but by the time we got home my jeans were wet from the knees down.
Man, I wish today was Friday. I'm exhausted. This period has finally left. I was starting to get concerned b/c the teeth on the upper right side of my mouth were so painful. That is a period related pain for me, but I haven't had it in years. I've been downing ibuprofen and was seriously considering that it might be dentist worthy. However, I woke up this morning and the inflammation was gone finally. This period harkened back to my early 20s in terms of pain and symptoms. Stupid uterus, just give it up already!
I went to my local hangout last night to find out more about my friend. Basically friend, R, had a lot happen in the last year, most of it not good. He had moved to a bigger city about 2 hours away, with another friend, B. I really love B, he's a sweet young man, incredibly smart, had just finished his degree, and was starting out his adult life. B is the one who found R and that's what I was really afraid of. B is not alone, his mother is with him, thank goodness. There will be a memorial here at some point. It's been a really tough year.
Boys were sweet last night, very chatty but not wild at bedtime. G asks some really good questions. N gets pretty snuggly. Doing yoga at lunch today, couple errands then book club this evening. I liked the book (Wedding People).
HI!!! I have a brief respite from training and have time to pop in. I took a gap job while I continue to search for something better. I have an interview in a couple of weeks for a job that I was referred to by someone who I used to work with. Gap job isn't bad, just not anything I want to do long term.
Things are things. Kids are good, baby's good. The kiddo did break up with ex once and for all (so it seems). They are navigating 50/50 and it's mostly OK. Mr. Man (what DH and I have taken to calling him) is just a freaking joy. He's almost 10mos, so he's chatty, giggly, and makes the best faces. DefConn is 2 weeks away from being done with Jr. High. I'm ready for school to be over, but I'm not ready to start preparing for HS.
We're still feeling a bit in suspended animation because DH knows I don't want to keep this job, but we don't know if/when another job may come up and then what will go along with that. We haven't made any concrete summer plans except for tickets to a few things and we've made no travel plans. 2025 feels like some sort of 'rebuilding' year for us OR it's just that the entire world is a dumpster fire and it's hard to make big sweeping plans or changes because we have no idea of anything.
For my mental health and because I lost about 30lbs I'd really like to keep off after I was laid off, I've started running. Also for my mental health, I've been doing light prepper type stuff (mostly just being overstocked on shelf stable food and paper products).
OHHHHH and in the biggest news, lil sis and BIL have been cleared to adopt foster nephew later this month!! We're so excited!
I think that's the high points. I miss y'all. I hope everyone is doing well. I've been too busy to lurk even. ((Hugs)) to everyone and I will try to go back and catch up.
It's my Friday and it's been a week. I'm just exhausted and still have a ton to do before I log out for the day, and will have to work a few hours this weekend. In fun news, we're going to Ohio to see H's niece graduate from high school. She's a little doll and I can't believe she's grown already.
Nothing much else going on here. Just working a lot and it's already summer.
Hi @mrsconn23, lots of things happening for you! I’m glad you gave a job in the meantime. I’m sure it helps! And good luck to sis and bil. That’s exciting!
Great to see you @mrsconn23. I've been thinking about you a lot especially with the tornado that hit on the west side of town. Hard to believe the baby is almost 10 months old. Hope something comes up for you soon but glad you have a "between" job.
