Is today national you're-not-allowed-to-WFH day? Traffic getting to work was so heavy, I have no idea where all of the extra cars came from lol.  I arrived on time, but phew.

Should be a pretty normal work day.  I have to renew my library card bc tickets to local/local-ish places are on sale and I don't want to get closed out of the aquarium tickets.  (There's a year-round free pass program to places like museums, gardens, children's museum, hall of science etc, but each summer the library also offers discounted tickets to big-deal experiences like the aquarium, the amusement park, the water park...places that usually charge $50-75pp but the library ticket costs like $25pp.  Not free but a good savings.)  Another relatively quiet day after work which is awesome.

My traffic was awful this morning too! And schools are out! I don't understand where it was coming from. And @VarunaTT i've been at my new job for almost 9 months now and I am still not used to the sheer amount of emails coming in daily. Nor have i figured out the best system for managing yet.

I'll post prudie a bit later after a few meetings!
  • Ooof that's hard @VarunaTT.  Sounds like she's been good at putting things off and denying she needs to attend to these issues all for one reason or another.

Chiquita is done w/ school for the summer.  She has some work to do for one of her classes that she starts in the fall but this is it!  Finals are over!

Chiquito has one more day and does NOT want to go.  Sorrynotsorry kiddo - you're going.
  • It wasn't a good night at our house last night, and it's continued into today.  A couple of days ago, I texted DH a home listing for a house I thought was near his sister.  It was a historical home on a beautiful lot and I thought it looked familiar.  He responded that it was the one I remembered and that he'd always wanted to see the interior.  Then he texted that we should sell our current home and buy that one.  I responded with a .  Last night he tells me he's been thinking of that house and we should go look at it and put in an offer.  We can sell our house, make a profit to use toward the historical one.  I told him it didn't look to be handicap accessible and I didn't realize we were looking to buy another house.  That set him off.  After I made dinner, he said he wasn't hungry and didn't want any.  He was pissy all night.  Man, intellectually I know he has dementia and his brain doesn't always function properly.  Especially his executive functioning.  But when these things happen it takes me by surprise.  Now I'm feeling guilty because I could have handled things better by asking questions rather than shutting down the discussion.  UGH

  • I've been in IT hell today.  It was not unexpected, but much worse than I was expecting.  I've been putting it off and feeling a little guilty I wasn't more proactive at least a week ago.

Each IT person has tried to help me, but then they get to a point where they think it's a different IT department I need to speak to.  I am now on Department #4 and waiting for their response.

To be fair, it's for a totally new system.  And apparently, I'm having an unusual problem.

But on to better and brighter news.  Leaving for my 10-day trip this Sat.  Yay!  I don't want to jinx myself, but it should be SO much fun!

  • @VarunaTT, she wanted to wait till September? Glad you’re going today.
@MNNEBride, that’s tough. You can probably still ask him questions but then explain why you’re not entertaining that nonetheless
@short+sassy, 10 days is a long time! Enjoy!

SSDD here. I had game night with meetup last night, and even though I was SO tired during it, yawned all night and couldn’t wait to go home, I still went home and couldn’t sleep until 11:30. It was a lot of fun and I found a strategy game my nephews would like.
