Tuesday

What's everyone up to today?

Re: Tuesday

  • Happy Tuesday!
Just resting up and enjoying some wfh time before all the execs come in tomorrow.  Did 1/2 my lawn already and taking a break before the other half gets done. We’re in for another heat wave, but I think it’s only 2 days this time.
The air b&b we were in didn’t have a kureg but they had a french press. Confession time: I never used one before. So my friend made me a pot. They had a bag of flavored coffee, which I never get anymore because my flavored cream always overpowers it anyway. They also didn’t have creamer at this place so I had a cup of flavored coffee with some sweetener. And guess what? The french press brings out enough flavor that I actually don’t need cream. Just a pack of “stevia in the raw” is good enough for me, so no more “bad for you” creamers I’m thinking. What a find on that trip.

Did an urgent dental visit yesterday and she recommended a week of muscle relaxers and some possible physical therapy if it's not feeling significantly better. Still painful today but more movement for sure. Kinda feel a bit like everything is in slow motion this morning which is kinda bizarre, but hopefully just tired and not a lingering side effect. We'll see how it goes.

I skipped book club last night and it was definitely the right choice. They also scheduled the next one for G's first day of kindergarten and I think i'm going to bail on that one too so we can do a special dinner or something at home.

Going to attempt lunchtime yoga today since I can't really chew anything anyway.

Hope everyone is having a good week.

Yay for the French press discovery @CharmedPam and healing vibes your way @Casadena

Saw a couple of students earlier and home packing now. It’s only three days/three nights so it’s the linens bag and fridge and freezer bags that are really the biggest.
My small victory is that my pool’s little lending library (I’m sure you’ve seen them- take a book, leave a book) has been 🔥 this summer. The last three books that I’ve grabbed I’ve really enjoyed, and I would not have found them otherwise. (Yes, I drop lots of books there too.)

I hope you feel better soon! @Casadena

Yay for finding a new way to make coffee! @charmedpam. I recently switched back to green tea to try and save calories from the creamer. I will also say that when I was able to drink coffee (mostly) black the Lavazza brand has really smooth good coffee.

Work today. I am tying a new meal for lunch so hopefully it’s good. We did a walk this morning and I’m a little sleepy now. Tomorrow I signed up for a free Pilates class at the gym (first one is free then you pay). If I like it maybe I’ll incorporate it into my workouts. I need to remember to pack my Pilates socks into my car tonight.

Otherwise SSDD. Weekend was mostly good. H is in a little bit of a funk. It’s hard not to be with everything going on. I can’t believe July is already almost over.

I'm fussy feeling and just don't feel good.  But work has been light, so that's good.  At least WFH, it's not such a challenge to work when you don't feel good.

Started watching Season 3 of Foundation and whoa.  I haven't read the books, so don't really know what happens in the story.  It's such a good show and it's SO pretty.

@CharmedPam I use a small French press everyday.  I don't feel like it takes much longer than drip coffee.  Since it's just for me, I really use about the same amount of coffee.  It just tastes better to me.  I throw my sugar packet in with the coffee grounds. I also bought an electric kettle to boil the water to the exact temperature I want and I feel like that helps a lot too.

I don't really have a lot going on.  I feel even more boring now that I live in a suburb and with my mom, than I did as just a grown adult living downtown.

My H was very anti-Keurig, until he used one at a family friend's house we were staying at.  Then he was a big convert.

I use a little of my sugar-free protein drinks as creamer and love it!  It's 15-20 calories/ounce, but then I drink one of those almost every day anyway so I'm already counting the whole container. They also add some sweetness, but it's not overwhelming.

When I first started my weight loss journey two years ago, I meticulously counted calories for the first month.  I eat a lot of the same meals, so then I could use that data going forward.

My biggest shock was how many calories are in creamer!  At work, I used to use those handy individual creamers.  They're so little!  Surely they have a negligible amount of calories.  Oh no, I was so wrong, lol.  35 calories each and I always put two of them in my coffee.

  • Still getting back in the groove after a stellar weekend in NYC. I miss it there so much and loved seeing my college friends and running friends. I went to the Met and MoMA and walked all around. Food was excellent.

Back to work and reality yesterday. Big birthday on Thursday!
  • Oh interesting tip @VarunaTT, I’ll try that sugar packet in it.
yes @short+sassy, extra calories in the creamer that’s not needed and also some chemicals and stuff in my sugar free ones - so if I can have just some GOOD plain tasting coffee, I’ll feel better about myself.
i’ll probably buy another french press for work too.

@CharmedPam I also like a flavored coffee but I am SO picky that it doesn't taste chemically or fake. This is by far the best one i've found and I drink it every day!

  • I swear I bought that one before! Now that I have a whole new world of coffee I’ll try it again. My brother also sells a brand from a local distributor.  This is the brand they had at the air b&b and we bought a ton of them. Cherry creme was delish.
