Dear Prudence,

A woman with whom I hook up on and off ended up with an unwanted pregnancy. Luckily, we live in a state where reproductive freedom for women is still a thing, and she was able to get an abortion. The thing is, she wants me to pay for all of it. I think half of it is fair, since we were equally involved. Am I right?

    I hate to be sanctimonious but why isn't this something you discuss before heading into a situation?

    And annoying that it's 50/50 unless equal pay is involved.

    Just pay for it. Way cheaper than 20 years of child support. 

    I hope she doesn’t sleep with you again, but I’m guessing by how you’re handling it she won’t.

    Consider her half the time she has to take off work for the procedure and the pain and discomfort she has to go through. 

    But also, this is really not the time to be nickel and diming.
