A rare work day for me so getting in a quick hello here.
The kids had their final swim meet last night and rocked it (not the team’s final meet, but theirs, we’ll be in New Hampshire for the last two). I do have to start getting some NH packing together. The kids are probably seeing exH later today.  Pretty SSDD stuff.
  • My mother managed to ruin my mood before 9 am.  I don't even want to complain about it, she can just be the most selfish wretched person in existence sometimes.

Saw the F1 movie last night finally.  It was a lot of fun.  It's totally unrealistic and there are some very legitimate critiques to hit it with.  The racing cinematography though is amazing.  It is something that is movie screen/sound system worthy.  Going to see a movie called Mixed Blood tonight.  It's an arthouse movie from the 80s.  Amongst other big ticket items, it's the debut of John Leguizamo, so I'm really looking forward to it.

    Otherwise, SSDD.
  • Have a gigantic to-do list today, both personal and work. Our primary bathroom is totally gutted and we need to start actually picking things out so work can get started to put it back together. H and I cannot agree on shower things. I hate tile with a passion, grout is the bane of my existence and glass doors are just the worst to keep clean, imo. He hates the ones piece fiberglass insert things and things a shower curtain is messy. I like that a curtain hides all the shower "stuff" but maybe would make our tiny bathroom feel tinier? IDK. I know this is very FWP problems.

Took G back to school shopping on Sunday and it was really fun :) He picked out some great stuff and is all ready for Kindergarten.

I'm supposed to travel next week and i haven't booked tickets yet and am really debating cancelling. It's more of a social/networking event hosted by a huge player in our industry. So good to go to, but i also just saw most of the same people at an event a month ago. Just not feeling being away from home lately.
  • Yesterday was our anniversary so DH cooked dinner and we had a nice meal at home.  I took Chiquito to his baseball lesson and he's been loving the Yankees despite their slump so Sunday he begged DH to post a pic with him and Chiquita to be the pinstripe fans of the game.  They were last night!
  • @Casadena, some other ideas for shower walls are wood-look tile.  I realize it is still tile but, since it is usually used for flooring, it can be installed without grout lines.  Cost-wise, it's not as cheap as the cheapest tiles available, but is similarly priced to lower/medium priced tiles.

You can also use natural stone or stone-look tile.  Those will often still have grout lines, especially the tile, but you can get pretty large tiles so there aren't that many.  With natural stone, you can buy cut slabs of it just like you would for kitchen countertops.  So each wall of your shower is a seamless stone, ie no grout lines.  Stone-look tiles are about the same cost as wood-look ones, so not too bad.  But natural stone will be a good bit pricier than tile.  Alas, no surprise there.

  • I (finally!) made my flight reservations over this last weekend for my grandmother's memorial service on August 15th.  She passed away in Feb., but her funeral was in Hawaii (where she was originally from).  But many of us couldn't get out there for it.  She'd been in a nursing home in OH before her passing, near my Aunt A.  My aunt is throwing a memorial service for her on what would have been her 100th birthday.

Coincidentally, my aunt lives nearish to Cincinatti, so my H and I are going to also use this trip to check out that city more.

It felt like it was still so far away because I wasn't thinking about that we're flying in about a week early.  We're actually flying out this Saturday (what?!? lol).  Whoops!  Flights were so much more expensive than they were a couple weeks ago.  But Spirit saved my butt.  Their prices were the same and round trip was less than $200/person.  Unfortunately, Spirit doesn't fly into Cincy.  However, they do fly into Columbus which isn't too bad.  I think Aunt A. lives in between those two cities.  We're going to stay the first night in Columbus.  A different aunt (Aunt M) on my dad's side lives there, so I'm hoping to meet up with her the next day.

I am REALLY looking forward to this trip!  My sister and her family are coming also.  I haven't seen either of these aunts since my wedding, 13 years ago.  I was somewhat close with my first cousins (Aunt A's children) when we were kids.  One of them was able to come out for my wedding (still a long time ago).  But the others I haven't seen in about 20 years.

It's going to be so nice to catch up with everyone!  Maybe re-establish some cousin friendships for when we move and are closer to everyone.

  • @Casadena, we have been in the unfinished reno from hell for the past 5 years. Knowing what I know now (not our forever house) I wish we had just slammed in one of those all in one fiberglass showers and had it over and done with. I'm not a fan of their appearance however I also hate grout. I think if I had two young boys I'd probably do a fiberglass shower and plan on remodeling the bathroom of my dreams once they were older and either responsible to help me clean our out of my house so I didn't have to worry about the extra work of cleaning tile.

    SSDD over here.

*Hugs* @ varunaTT. I don't know why parents are so incredibly frustrating.

  • @Casadena, we remodeled our primary bath 3 or 4 years ago. We used larger tiles in the shower and floor so that there wouldn't be as many grout lines but they are still there. The super large tiles are more expensive to install because a special tile cutter needs to be used for those tiles. Something to think about. I really like our glass walls and door. We squeegy them after showering and it keeps it in check. I think they may have some kind of finish that helps to repel spotting. I also use a norwex enviro cloth and window cloth to clean them every so often. They are amazing.  In my experience, boys (including the one I am married to LOL) never grow out of leaving bathrooms messy.

I'm finishing up laundry to pack for the boys going home tomorrow. We went to our favorite sushi restaurant tonight for dinner. They did very well. One tried some different sushi dishes and all three ate dumplings, edamame, tempura veggies and spring rolls. I love appetizer dinners as did they.

We return home on Thursday, we have a crap load of stuff to do around the house - cleaning, washing sheets and towels and remaking beds. Not to mention the yard work!

Good luck packing for your trip @ei34

I finally allowed myself to spend time as I wished. Therefore, I took a day off and am heading to a café to read a book and drink coffee. I like the concept of slow living much more now. I love spending time taking care of myself, and option such as to Buy Mounjaro Online definitely help me keep my health and physical condition in great shape.
