Dear Prudence,
I don’t know what to do about my daughter. She quit her job and moved 15 hours away from her family and friends to be with her “fiancé.” This man is still legally married, has three other children, and is in an intense custody battle with his ex.
My daughter is the one footing the bills, and every conversation involves her complaining about how broke they are, the antics of his ex, and how her fiancé is ignoring the advice of the lawyer (that my daughter is paying for). And in the next breath, she is talking about how she wants to have a baby with this man and be a stay-at-home mom! My daughter is smart, attractive, and talented. I don’t understand why she is putting up with this nonsense. I am very worried that she is going to end up broke, broken-hearted, and with a baby on the way. How do I get through to her?
