Wedding Woes

Mountain Monday

How was everyone’s weekend? Wishing all a smooth week!

Re: Mountain Monday

  • Weekend was good.  I didn't do much but putter around the house.  Went over to a friend's house and we watched Robocop.  I hadn't seen it in forever and it just seemed appropriate for all of **waves hands around** this.  I'm terrified of today; I feel like it's our Night of the Long Knives and I just feel helpless AF.  So, trying to just calm down and hold on.

Had a work meeting this morning.  I really like this team; at the same time a lot of my co-workers have been here a loooooooong time (multiple 25+ years) and they just seem to complain a lot.  I'm trying to make sure I don't fall into that trap b/c it's exhausting to deal with.  I try really hard to just listen and not offer solutions, b/c that's not what they want, but ugh.

Otherwise, SSDD.  I have a movie tonight.  The theatre has curated a Spike Lee/Denzel Washington series.  Inside Man is tonight.  I haven't seen it in forever, so it'll be like watching for the first time again.  Also taking care of a friend's cat.
  • Weekend was rough. Saturday I had to pick up my glasses. H and I had a whole plan to do a nice walk down there and then an hour before my mom called and said she needed us to take my Dad for the day. So then we had to pick him up which was a little out of the way, of course he wasn’t ready to be picked up, and we were almost late picking up my stuff and we got to our walk much later than we had wanted and it was hot by that point. Because he was with us it also meant a lot of plans had to be adjusted. Okay, fine. But then at lunch my Aunt starts to blow up my phone, Grandpa had a fall and hit his head. We need to check up on him. So we have to rush over there, I get there and he’s a mess. He had a six inch laceration on his head, was confused, and was in terrible back pain. He fell sometime in the middle of the night and of course hit his head on the worst thing in the room, the edge of a stone fireplace, and was unconscious for potentially hours. So I call 911 and then drive over to the ER where I waited for six hours before they would even let me back to see him. I got back to their house at 2 am and of course it was the one time we didn’t bring any overnight stuff because we had taken it all out to accommodate my Dad’s wheelchair earlier. Poor grandpa has a back fracture now and an infection and they’re keeping him for the week. I am exhausted today and I’m not excited for the work week. 2025 can suck it.

6 hours is long for me too @ei34, back pats for you
Sorry about what you’re going through @Casadena, added stress probably doesn’t help
@ILoveBeachMusic, I love Skokie. It’s a cute downtown area anyway. In fact - I was there this weekend! A lot of cool places to eat.
Oh wow @levioosa, that’s so much burden on you. I’m so sorry you have like zilch breaks. Hugs.

Weekend was good. Friday went to an amazing 80’s musical, but it was the last weekend and I can’t go back. Boo. Saturday was a lot. Met up with a bunch of friends for an outdoor clue walking game. In Skokie. A few retailers participated and you had to walk around and each store had clues for us. I’ll do it next year too. But we had 8 of us, and probably “too many cooks in the kitchen” on one team. I’d actually split it up next time because there was too much leadering going on. Then I went to a fest, but if was hot and not fun to walk around in. After that 4 of us 8 girls went to dinner but even that was long. 2.5 hours. My back was KILLING me from the uncomfortable bench. I try not to interrupt people because I have it happen to me ALL the time, so I was waiting for a break in the convo to tell them…. Yet there was no break. They couldn’t stop yapping! Finally I broke and was like “I seriously can’t take it any longer!”  The restaurant even stopped seating new customers by that time too. It was a long day and my back is getting worse as I age (and it was better when I was heavier! Lol)

  • Thanks everyone. Sorry I’m the Debbie downer of the board.

@CharmedPam was it one of those benches without a back? I cannot do those at all. They’re miserable!

You’re not. It’s just your life right now but hopefully for just RIGHT now.
No it actually had a back, but the padding was so rounded I couldn’t sit up straight, I was hunched over a bit. Usually I love booths.

  • You’re not Debbie Downer @levioosa, and even if you were it’s okay! I’m Debbie Downer a lot here too. And you all are so so supportive.

You’re not a Debbie downer @levioosa! I want you to catch a break, soon. It’s one thing after another for you
That sounds like a good plan @ILoveBeachMusic
