ear Prudence,
I have been dating my boyfriend for a year and a half, and we recently moved in together. This is a relationship that I can imagine lasting long-term. However, I feel like I’m an afterthought when it comes to important conversations.
He planned an upcoming trip to visit family without telling me the details in advance or inviting me to join him. I brought up how I felt blindsided by not being part of the conversation. He apologized but also told me that when given the option, he’s always going to choose to make family trips alone and doesn’t want me involved. Both of us live apart from our families, and we have visited my family together on multiple occasions. Am I wrong to be uncomfortable with being left out of his family affairs and told to stay home?
