The heat broke here, back to more typical temps today thankfully (it’s 52 right now and the kids are under fleece blankets, nothing better). Having a quiet morning and then ziplining around 10.

Just commenting to bump this thread. I went hard on the Prudies
  • @VarunaTT I vote affogatos for breakfast.

I hope everyone has a good weekend!

I called my parents and tomorrow morning we are going out to breakfast since it's my brother's birthday. I think my parents are going to be having a hard time. This week has been more difficult for some reason. I listened to a poem (Love Letter from the Afterlife) by Andrea Gibson yesterday and got some tears out, which isn't always easy for me.

After breakfast I have the delight of going to the dentist to have a cavity filled and for my cleaning. We are planning on going out to dinner later with SIL and her H and hopefully I'm in the mood for that. I feel like trying to relax will be good, but I hope I'm not in the feels. If I am we'll probably cancel. A gift from my brother is that I don't like to drink when I'm sad or upset. And it's not that we have to have drinks, but I also don't want to be the sad wet blanket when they could also be having a fun date night on one of their limited nights off together.

Sunday I am debating visiting my Grandfather. They moved him to a nursing facility yesterday. But I also would like a day where we just spud at home. Every weekend we've had family trainwrecks occur. Next weekend is the last weekend before vacation and I need to focus on packing and cleaning the house plus I have another appointment. There's really no ideal time to go visit. We don't have Monday off either because poor H has to go get his root canal. Thankfully I talked to the lawyer regarding the trial that is supposed to start on Monday and they said I don't have to be there so thank goodness for that.

  • Today is a cluster. Our office is offline. Anything time
sensitive I’ve had my back up help me, but they’re down 2 people too.
Then I hired someone to clean my very small house for 2.5 MAYBE 3 hours: she’s good! But goes at 1/2 the pace as everyone else who’s cleaned my house. I’ve watched her and she’s very slow. She came 1/2 hr late, which didn’t help AND is just taking her time. She’s going to end up being the same as the more expensive faster people. Soooo do you tip knowing she could have done it quicker? I tipped on the speedy ladies, but if you think about it, you could charge by the hour and then go slow?!?
i wanted to head out early to see my family too. Now I’m worried I’ll go back up online 1/2 way through my drive AND I still need to shower before I leave! Like, hurry up lady!!!!

Have a nice peaceful breakfast tomorrow @levioosa, and I hope it’s pleasant and not stressful.
I can teach you how to eat ice cream for breakfast @VarunaTT. Stick with me! Chocolate PBsounds great

  • @CharmedPam That used to drive me crazy when I was paying people hourly to clean. SIL's person has a flat rate and however long it takes is what it takes, but usually she's done within 3 hours. If the house is really dirty then there's a fee increase but I like the flat rates. I had one person who moved so incredibly slow it was ridiculous. I could have cleaned three rooms in the time it took her for one (not deep cleaning either). Then at the end of the time (I would book for four hours--it was what the service offered) she would rush and half clean stuff.

  • Busy day so far.  There was a tractor trailer fire on the highway in town today and consequently the local roads were gridlocked.  The kids had dentist appointments and our normal 4 minute ride was 22 minutes.  We made it to mass mid day (it's a Holy Day of Obligation for Catholics) and now I'm back attempting to finish out the work day.
