Monday

How's everyone?  Hope all had a relaxing weekend!

Re: Monday

  • Not relaxing but a great weekend!

Saturday we were up early and the van was packed as I picked up my mom leader, her daughter and another GS to camp at Sikorsky over the weekend.  It was a great experience as they partner with Scouting America and Girl Scouts with activities geared towards STEM and it was massively empowering.  I absolutely love what they do to encourage careers at their facility .

The day was long and we left mid day yesterday but it's a massively worthwhile experience.

Went to late Mass and now I am back to the grind.  It wasn't a weekend to recharge but it was a good mental time to unplug.
  • Weekend was decent! G had a hard time getting out of the house for golf lessons but had a great time once he got there. I'm a bit burned out on kids bday parties. Both boys were invited to a 2-5 party saturday at one of those indoor germ factories play places. 3 hours is WAY too long. I know we didn't have to stay the whole time, but the actual singing and cake part was at the end. I feel old, but omg the music in there was toooooo loud. Grownups almost had to yell to hear each other.

Yesterday was groceries and hanging out at home. Boys played together super nicely for the majority of that time which is so much more relaxing than when they're fighting and bickering non stop.

My parents are coming late this afternoon to stay for the week. G's school is closed tomorrow in observance of Rosh Hashanah, so they're babysitting and we're pulling N out for the day as well :) I'm traveling again this week and then hopefully not for a few months! Going to a baseball game with my dad on Friday, then H and I are going to the matinee ballet on Saturday, then out to dinner - he got me tickets for my birthday! I'm so excited.
  • Friday I went to my mom's and went through all of my stuff that was left.  I purged and packed and moved it to the garage sale location.  Saturday we go up early and set everything out.  I sold all of my furniture and glassware.  I had one truck load to go to donate, which was a lot less stuff.  Made around $300, which was nice.  I was exhausted by Saturday night.  Spent Sunday mostly recovering; I did manage to do laundry.  That was all I could muster.

Have a few errands to run after work.  Working on getting the last few things I'm keeping out of my car.  Then I'll fill it one last time with things I'm getting rid of and I'll be finished, thank goodness.  A few things to buy still to make life more comfortable here, but they're small things.  I also really need to go grocery shopping.  I'm looking forward to finally being comfortable and settled.
  • My back was hurting Friday and Saturday. I have a feeling it was in response to the dry needling I had on Thursday. Yesterday was better, as is today. It didn't hurt to sit at my desk, so I did a lot of crafting and built up my inventory for the show in November. I'd work some and then take a break with the heating pad in the recliner.

DH was empathetic, which was nice.  I started some laundry last night and will finish between work today and tomorrow.  I need to decorate the house for fall (inside and out).  Hope to do the inside this week.

We got over an inch of rain overnight with more expected today with possible heavy storms.  I slept right through it and was surprised when I woke up.  No hail, so that was good as I didn't/couldn't move my plants into the garage.

Not a hectic week, which is a nice break.  PT Tuesday and Thursday morning, haircut tomorrow night.

  • Weekend was busy. Friday we upgraded our phones, which tbh was a nightmare to do. I am with you on loud music @casadena. The store was advertising their speakers too and had the music up way too loud and I was in definite sensory overload.

Saturday I speed baked a cake which turned out better than I expected for the fact I rushed it so much. I had an appointment at the bank and had the most awkward interaction with the banker. I could not believe how unprofessional he was being. It was so bad it was actually funny. Then we visited with my Grandparents and my mom for a few hours. Yesterday was a recovery day, and getting things ready for the week. I'm back at work today. I switched my Friday for today and I'm already sad about it. Otherwise, SSDD.

I hope your back feels better soon @MNNEbride

  • A mixed bag for the weekend. We had friends over Saturday night for pizza and watched All The President's Men. Our new mattress and bed frame were delivered Saturday also. Sunday we played Bocce. Very sadly a friend of ours passed yesterday morning. His wife is in my book club so we knew it was coming. It doesn't make it any easier. So this week we (our book club) are trying to do what we can to help but pretty much feeling helpless.

Today was spin class and I may watch another Robert Redford movie at some point.
  • I'm so sorry for your loss @ilovebeachmusic. Thinking of you.

  • Hope your back is better today @MNNEBride, I'm so sorry for your loss @ILoveBeachMusic and omg I never understand why the music is at shouting-level at those bouncy places @Casadena...they're loud enough as it is.

Weekend was nice.  The kids enjoyed homecoming on Saturday and we went to a Mets game with my brother yesterday.  It'll most likely be their last of the season, and it was fun.
This is going to be a good week - schools are closed here tomorrow and Wednesday for Rosh Hashanah.  A short week is always a good one.
