I'm in the process of enlisting for the AF, and FI and I just got engaged the Friday before Christmas. I talked to my recruiter today and it looks like with the timeline I have, I'll be leaving for BMT in the later part of the year. Because I am on the older side of the enlistment eligibility (will be 27 in March), I know for sure I'll be leaving within the next year or so.
So FI and I talked and decided to set a date for August 11 so we could start the Catholic marriage preparation. We want to be married before I go to basic and August seemed like the best time based on what my recruiter told me.
I realize that any of this could change over the course of the summer, and I am fully prepared for that. Been lurking over the past few weeks and already have had a lot of my questions answered...I will definitely have more as the planning process continues.
Edited to take out dates for BMT
Re: New here and just thought I'd say hi!
[QUOTE]I would definitely still ask them to put in the clause! No reason you have to be active to do it - you're just saying should your commitment to the military interfere with your wedding plans, the venue agrees to either transfer your deposit to another date or return your money. No venue has to agree to this, but if there is even a chance of it interfering, I'd definitely ask for a similar clause to be included!

<div>Ditto. Nobody even asked us for any proof of H being in the military when we talked to them about it. We also said we wouldn't ask for money back or anything ,we would just want our deposit and contract moved to a different date with no penalty. </div>

<div>I'll definitely ask about it when I go look at reception venues/and other vendors. With SA being a military town, the wedding vendors in the area probably hear this pretty often. </div><div>
</div><div>And I'm going to a wedding show this Sunday (first one...can't wait!) and that is gonna be on my list of things to ask people. </div>
Hi, welcome, and Congrats.
