Schools here are closed in observance of Yom Kippur.  My parents have my middle sister’s kids (the older two are close in age to mine) and offered to take my kids for a few hours as well, which is nice. I’m about to log onto a (remote!) PD and will try to get some stuff done around the house too.  We’re fully in fall weather here, thankfully, it feels like a good day to take the ACs out of the windows.
  • At work bright and early this morning (I volunteered to come in early for a work need). Driving to work in the dark felt like a crime.

This week has been rough. Today is looking even worse. Oof. I have three more days to get through. I'm looking forward to the weekend when I can relax and sleep in on Sunday. I'm a little frustrated with work. It is a mess, but I also offered to pick up extra days and there's just zero communication back about it. They even opened my schedule one of the days but didn't tell me. I'm not just going to show up on the off chance I might  be working. You have to tell me if it's official or not.

Anyways, nothing much else is happening here. It's finally starting to cool down and I'm excited about it.

  • @ei34, I felt a cool breeze when I walked across my work's parking lot this morning.  That probably hasn't happened since March, lol.

This week has gone by faster than usual, so I'm happy about that.  I'm not sure why, though I have been more productive than usual.  I keep trying to hold onto that feeling!  Because my personal to-do list is always long, since I usually procrastinate on it.

  • I'm taking tomorrow off to hang with my mom and i'm so excited. She and G are having a blast at home today and N happily went to school (I was worried about a fight since G got to stay home today). We took the boys Olive Garden last night after school and it was really fun, they did awesome and loved the breadsticks :) We don't go out for dinner very often so that was fun.

Nothing major planned for the weekend. Groceries at some point, house stuff, and maybe a playdate/friend hangout on Sunday.
  • I'm sleepy for some reason. Woke up around my usual time, made my coffee, ate breakfast.  Looked at the clock and decided to go back to bed.  Slept for another hour and then woke up and logged on.  I also went to bed around 8.  I'm not really sure why I'm tired, except that I got blackout curtains and it's finally cooling down?

I don't have much to do at work today, thank goodness, b/c my brain is just not shrugging off the sleepiness and I'm having to push to work.  I had to buy Maxwell House coffee (for $17.99!!!!) and I'm wondering if it just doesn't have the oomph of what I usually buy.

ALL of the boxes are gone!!!  They are in my car for returns, stopping by the used game/comic book store for selling and then I'm officially finished.  My nonstick pans are coming today, thank goodness, and I'll get my couch and wall finished hopefully by this weekend.

Harley gets a packet of the Hydra Care liquid for cats every other day.  She loves it and it keeps me from panicking about how much water she doesn't drink.  It is out of stock EVERYWHERE in town and at Chewy.  I finally was able to order it from Petsmart and have it shipped.  She's been out for weeks b/c I couldn't order it.  I don't know what's happening, but if they stop making this stuff, I'll have to experiment around to see what else she'll drink.  Her gums are a little pale for my liking, but hopefully this'll get here quickly.  The price didn't go up, so IDK if it's a tariffs issue or supply line, but I'm sure I'm not the only cat Companion panicking.  My next stop was my vet and hopefully it doesn't come to that, b/c I want the animals that are prescribed it, to get it first (cats with kidney disease, which is fairly common b/c cats are buttheads who won't listen to their bodies).
  • @VarnaTT, $18...for MAXWELL coffee?!?!  If that isn't another sign of the world burning down around us, I don't know what is.

It took me awhile to figure out why coffee hasn't gone up too much around me, even though I keep hearing stories like yours.  Then I finally had my "duh" moment, lol.  Our coffee doesn't have to travel far.  Most of the coffee beans from Central/South America come through the Port of New Orleans.  This has led to a secondary industry of factories here that roast/process coffee beans.

  • @short+sassy Trust me, I was shocked.  I had read something that coffee was going to go up.  I've tried tea in the mornings, even a coffee tea (David's Tea), but it just doesn't have the psychological effect that the smell of real coffee does.  I did Maxwell b/c that was for 1 lb 10 oz.  Other types were that much for 10 oz to a pound and I just could not bring myself to spend more on coffee than I was on meat and getting so little.

@VarunaTT is THIS what you buy? Looks like it's available on Purina's Pro Plan Vet Supplement site. Thanks for sharing! I'm going to let my friend know who just adopted Tapioca (she basically refuses to drink water) and we've both been stressing about it.

Yes!  It's wonderful stuff.  Harley really seems to consider it like a treat.  When I start opening the package, the meowing is instant.  It takes her about a full day to drink what's in the package and I use one every other day.  I was worried about calories b/c Harley is so small and my vet said that wasn't an issue at all.

ETA:  That is a decent price on that.  Chewy has a 36 package box for $45.99 which is a bit cheaper, but that's cheaper than 2 boxes of 12 from Petsmart.
  • Real talk: I love Olive Garden. My nephews really like it because ummmm pasta. And they have those games on the screens for the boys while they wait.
Tonight I have a fun charity event to go to. I’m tired so I hope I get my 2nd wind!

  • It's ortho week here.

Yesterday Chiquito went to the orthodontist.  He won't need braces for about 18 mo to 2 years but he DOES need 6 (!!) teeth pulled.

Chiquita went to the ortho for her wrist.  It's still hurting so she's going for PT for 3 weeks and if she still doesn't feel better she'll get an MRI.
