Why do you care about this at all?

My husband does something that I find annoying. The years when we don’t have Thanksgiving dinner at home, my husband will make it himself after we return from visiting whatever relative we’re seeing. He’ll do the whole meal with a turkey and everything. He does all the cooking and cleans everything up himself, but isn’t the point of going over to someone else’s for Thanksgiving to avoid the inconvenience of having to make the food yourself? His excuse is that he likes to have certain things for Thanksgiving and looks forward to the leftovers. Isn’t he being greedy here?

  • So....your husband likes a turkey dinner with all the trimmings and will make one for himself and he (::GASP!::) CLEANS UP AFTER HIMSELF???

What's the problem here?  Are you burdened with leftovers?  Stuck throwing out food?

Congratulations!  You must have the world's best life if this is stressing you out.
  • This sounds incredible why are you so mad?

Please let me know if you two don't work out.  Sounds incredible lol.

I actually do something similar to LW's H.  My parents still host (my mom isn't ready to hand Thanksgiving over) and it's a wonderful meal, so I'm not complaining, but she can be a bit controlling over the menu.  My sisters and I all make a tasty stuffing/Mac&cheese/sweet potato casserole etc.  But my mom struggles with it not being hers.  I want the kids to associate the holiday with me cooking favorites, and them helping, so I end up doing a meal either the weekend before or weekend after.  The house smells incredible and there are so many leftovers. So I 100% understand why LW's H likes to make the full holiday meal in their home kitchen.
  • I'm trying to figure out how he is being greedy.  Greedy about wanting Thanksgiving leftovers in the fridge?  Me too!

That the LW gets to enjoy also without lifting a finger.  How can she be complaining about a great perk.

  • Yeah - I feel like it's way worse when guests go into the kitchen and I'm voluntold what to give away.
  • It's unusual, sure, but greedy? I'm not seeing that.

If he's a good cook and you don't have to lift a finger for this meal or the cleanup, just enjoy and stop looking for things to be unhappy about.
