Halloween Friday

Happy Halloween @CharmedPam and everyone else (Pam gets a special shout-out ;) !

Re: Halloween Friday

  • @ei34, I wish I was wearing a fleece onesie!  It sounds warm and comfy.  My workplace doesn't do costumes (pout).

I hope everyone has a Happy Halloween and the Knottie kids have fun ToTing.

I don't have any plans but still want to dress up!  I'll see if my neighbor wants to walk to a local bar.  If she's not up for it, I'll drag my H out instead.

  • @ei34 that's scary.  Glad everyone was safe AND the car still works.

Today is my supervisor's 2nd to last day b/c she's retiring.  It's sad, I really enjoyed working with her.  I have met our new supervisor and I'm pleased with her as well.

Otherwise, I'm just trying to get through today.  It's been a rough week and I've been kind of dragging myself around by the collar.  It'll be nice to have a weekend to relax and putter around my place.
  • @banana468 I hope DH can get some real answers soon.

School Halloween parade #1 complete, running to pick up candy shortly, meeting, errand, meeting, then Halloween parade #2. Grilled cheese and smoothies for super early dinner before ToT until their buckets are full or they're too cold :)

Playdate for G tomorrow and family pics on Sunday. Hoping for some sun so we're not too chilly!
  • Yeah ToT in our town is 3-7. Kids aren't even out of school at 3pm and most people aren't home from work before 4:30/5. Kind of silly. We'll go around 5 after we pick up from school and eat dinner!

This is what we were talking about at work! It’s a Friday, so
it’s OUR wfh day, but not everyone has that luxury. It’s a bit early! Even my nephews school will get out early but they don’t even need it.

  • Our ToTing is 5:30-8, nice and reasonable! M has a class party I get to join then he stays and I’m done for the rest of the day. We’re staying in our neighborhood tonight and as M asked “trick or treating as long as we want”.

I hadn't heard of an assigned time before.  We're starting around 3:45/4.  (Some homes are out of candy by 5.)  That said, there's a very high percentage of teacher moms, and dads who work electrician-type jobs home by 2-3.  My kids get home around 3.  The district I work in is extremely affluent, with lots of parents who can WFH and SAHmoms.  So I think it depends on the area.
  • I can't imagine kids ToT'ing at 3:00. I'd be so confused if someone was at my door in the middle of the work day. Kids around here usually start around 5:30, but I hear most folks will be later with it being Friday this year.

It should be a chill holiday for us. I'm going to finish up here a little early and take the dog for a long walk before kids start coming around, but we'll probably fix a drink and sit in the cul de sac. It's actually kind of a cool time to get to chat with neighbors. Nothing much else this weekend. Lots of chores and maybe a movie or date night tomorrow.
  • ToT in my area is 5-8. That is reasonable. At DD's it starts at 4 or 4:30! I think that is kind of early. We never get ToTrs. Well hardly. It seems the years we don't buy candy, we get 1 or 2 (we just don't open the door). Of course the years we do buy candy none show up. So yep I have a bag of KitKats and Trix on my counter. We live on a cul de sac off a busy road so I get why kids don't come here. It is the one thing I miss about our neighborhood from 26 years ago. We had 200 kids there! The preschoolers at our Y came TOTing in the Wellness center yesterday. They were so adorable.

Nothing much this weekend - yard clean up and church. I will start getting Christmas stuff out - I usually don't this early but my prolapse surgery may get moved earlier so I want to have the house ready for the holidays if it does. I've also started Christmas shopping and need to order a few more things today.
