Anyone in the Northern hemisphere see the northern lights last night? (8:30 - 9:30 pmish). I got a group text to go and see but you can only pick them up through the camera lens. Not in my case! Saw them with my naked eye. While not AS vibrant as the pic shows (attached), it was most definitely a pink sky. I missed these from last summer so I was nerding out that I got to see them now. They’re back on (and supposedly better) tonight too. I’m in the city tonight so I doubt I’ll see them again - but oh well, saw them once.

My homecooked meal prep was boring me, so after my medspa appt i was craving Chinese food something fierce. But not 2025 Chinese food prices lol. I did panda express. Ugh! Next time just pay real Chinese food restaurant prices. What are you doing to yourself? The orange chicken wasn’t bad but the noodles and greens were so oily. Blah.

I have been so tired lately and my face is so puffy and tired looking. I have been cutting out alcohol more and sleeping more, it should be doing the opposite!!

Work is busy this week and then holiday craziness starts next Monday when my sister arrives. she'll be here all week, then my parents are joining for a couple day, then taking her to their house. Then we're going to their house for Thanksgiving. After that, december is constant holiday parties, work events, etc. I already feel behind on Christmas shopping and prepping. Very much looking forward to having a couple weeks off at home at the end of December.

I am very torn on Thanksgiving plans, mostly because I don't want to be accused of favoritism. I would much rather go see my side of the family for both Thanksgiving and Christmas but that looks bad. H's parents are hosting something this Sunday and nothing on Thanksgiving so the option of their place isn't even there. I did float the idea of hosting something for both of our parents on Thanksgiving but H is not a fan of that either. Otherwise I guess we'll be going to my Aunt's? Everyone is just so up in the air about plans and I like to plan in advance, plus I want to attend the event with the most out of town people so we can catch up with everyone. Ugh, the stress.

Otherwise, I am tired. My coworker called out yesterday so it was just me and I saw double the number of patients as usual. I hope they don't call out again today.

Another day of baby J getting up in the middle of the night and refusing to go back in his bed. I’m exhausted.

work continues to be a dumpster fire- I have a manager who is missing things, which is impacting his team. He has great intentions and wants to move fast and create solutions, but he’s failing to bring them along or have them do the work. I have to have a 1:1 either way him (in addition to his regular one we had on Monday) because he went pretty far off the rails and now he needs to fix it. Ugh.

Boo on the ambiguous holiday plans @levioosa. I'd be tempted to skip the ILs on the holiday itself and attend this weekend. But I know some families can be very tit for tat.

Having a crazy day. Nothing awful, just very little time to stop and breathe. The evening will be just as busy.

We saw the Northern Lights too - much better through the camera lens, I agree. We will go out again tonight to see if they are more noticeable without the camera. It was pretty cool though since I had never seen them before.

We walked the boys to school this morning but my back is bothering now so H and DD went to pick them up. They get out almost an hour early every Wednesday afternoon. I think that is weird but them it has been a minute since my kids were in school. Back them we had scheduled half days during the year - I think like three or four. GS2 brought a baking book home from the library the other day so we will be making breakfast cookies after they are home, unpacked and have a snack.

Headed home tomorrow. I'll be glad to be home so I can get some stuff done around the house. Last year, after Christmas, I bought stuff to redo my outdoor flower pots for the holidays. Now I need to gather all that together and figure out exactly what I'm going to do. I'm sure I had a plan when I bought it so hopefully the plan will reappear when I see what I have. I have a feeling I bought way more than what I need.

Lots of friends posting pics of the Northern lights and we even had some green! It's the sun's 11 year rotation so we're in high activity time. It's been cool. I haven't gone out to see them but have enjoyed the pics.

@Casadena there's a weird time frame when you start cutting out alcohol that things can actually look worse for a bit, it just depends on your genetics. I got acne which I was so mad about, but it did stop doing that after about a month.

I bought 2 pairs of running shoes. Running seems to have gone back to maximum cushion styles; I still like barefoot style running. I bought the minimalist pair I tried. They're terribly ugly, almost look like a clog, but I like them a lot. I bought the second pair that I tried that has a load of cushion, plus replacement insoles. I ran in them yesterday. IDK if I can keep them or not. They're so much heavier and they made my feet ache. I felt like I was going to end up with shin splints, though I didn't. I'm going to keep trying for a week, which is only about 7 miles total and if it doesn't get better, I'll return them. I hadn't been into our local running store in years. It's so much more fancy now. I have a 3D scan of my feet and then a pressure map (it looks like a weather map) of my stride. The one really interesting result I didn't know was that I have a high instep. The fitter asked if I had problems with shoes rubbing the top of my foot red. I said, Yes AND I have issues with when I tie my shoes, it pushes too hard on that area and I end up with pins and needles too. So that was good to find out.

Almost all of my bike gear in is, except for the padded seat. I'll need to sell comics this weekend to make room in my car to load the bike up, but I am going to ride this weekend hopefully.

@VarunaTT H likes his Flux shoes. They are more barefoot style and they have a super wide toe box. H has hobbit feet and they were the least ugly wide toe box shoes I could find. Like, I love you but I still have to be seen in public with you lol.

Apparently we might even be able to see the Northern Lights tonight where I'm at which is crazy. I had no idea about them yesterday but I was seeing pictures of Joshua Tree which is kind of nearby and you could totally make them out. But we're getting a storm in so it might be cloudy. Boo. It would have been so cool to see them.

@levioosa I used Saucony, the Kinvera mode, for at least a decade or more. These are Altra Torin. So ugly.
