eye rolling so hard here

Dear Prudence,

There is a child at my son’s school (he’s in first grade) who I see waiting to be picked up when I come to get my son after school, whose clothes are consistently mismatched and dirty. One would think that the school would contact his parents, but each time I see him, it’s the same story. Would it be worthwhile to ask the school to look into his situation just to be on the safe side?

You know nothing about this kid and that's the approach?  Is he rough at recess?  Into unique styles?

But also, if this kid has issues, why on Earth do you think you're the only one who noticed it??

Also - maybe you should volunteer more and get to know the kid rathe than just be the parent who breezes in with judgements made in the pick up line.
  • I’d hate to see what LW think is us allowing our kids to play OUTSIDE before school. Sometimes they get dirty and I let them go like that.
  • My 4 year old LOVES to pick out his own clothes. As long as he's dressed weather appropriately, i honestly don't give two craps what the combo is when he's going to school. When G was 2, he wore snow boots and a bucket hat all summer long. Every outfit, every occasion. IT was hilarious and adorable.
  • Right is this eclectic or dirty.  And are the clothes dirty or is the KID dirty?

And...if the child is dirty do you think it's something the teacher hasn't noticed?
