Friday! Finally

Hope everyone has a nice smooth Friday!
I booked another cruise yesterday. My friends and I did a 5 nighter on virgin voyages because we heard nothing but good about them. Even from employees onother cruiselines. Normally one friend and I bunk together but I’m sick of her thermostat wars AND she has to get up at 5 am to take a pill daily and then I wake up too. Sometimes I can’t get back to sleep after her alarm goes off.  Anyway, a shared balcony room was $1,200. I dug into it and a single occupancy, inside room was only $1428. To drop a balcony and get my own room for $228 more? it’s a no brainer for me. I don’t even think I used the balcony the last few times we got ones with them anyway. We’re going to Bermuda. I would suggest Alaska, the West coast or East coast is when you’d want the balcony for the views. I’ve seen the sea water before lol.
Anyway my other friend texted me that she didn't want to bunk with cold room/pill popper friend and asked if we could room together.  This was before I booked my own. She insists on wanting the balcony for sunlight and fresh air.  But she doesn’t want to pay the single occupancy price for one. I get that, but we’re never in the staterooms anyway. We’re not buying a house without windows for a lifetime decision here. We’re going on a 6 day/5 night cruise. We’re waiting to see if we’re 5 people or 4, though. If we’re a group of 5 she may have to pay the price for that sunlight or the lower price for the inside room.

Re: Friday! Finally

  • I have my first intake appointment with a new therapist today. I haven't seen one since I was postpartum with N 4 years ago and it wasn't really helpful. So i'm kind of nervous actually? Have along work call this afternoon that hopefully is just listening mode, but still not my fave on a Friday afternoon, lol.

Weekend is family pictures and going to a d-league basketball game with the kids on Sunday :)

    @CharmedPam the cruise sounds fun!
  • I think you're much more extroverted than I am, @CharmedPam because I don't think I could cruise without a balcony. The Caribbean does have very pretty water. And I love a drink on a balcony without the chaos of other guests around. People watching is fun, but sometimes I just have to have some peace. This is why sharing rooms is hard.

I can't believe I have a whole two days of work left. I feel like this week has been 900 days long. It just won't end. It's supposed to rain for nearly a week so there's all sorts of flood watches. My grandparents are in an evacuation warning zone because of the burn scars above them, but I think they'll be okay. Tomorrow SIL is coming over with her pup while their place gets cleaned. Sunday we have family pre-Thanksgiving. Monday I have some appointments and then I have Tuesday off of work and I'm happy about that.

I hope everyone has a good, safe weekend!

  • I went to bed around 9 and slept until 7:30 again.  Part of me thinks if my body needs that much sleep, I shouldn't care.  Another part is wondering if it's a problem or not.  However, I was short some of my supplement regimen and I just got them back, so I'm hoping that gets me on the right track.  Man, it'd be nice if my brain just made the stuff it's supposed to.

I'm pretty careful with my information online.  I posted a story on Threads and had people berating me for not sharing location/names.  Have we just given up on Internet safety rules?  I dislike even sharing my state name, but I have in the past on political posts.  It's wild to me that everyone is out here just posting all their personal stuffs on international social media.  I'm seriously considering deleting everything and just taking up journaling again.

Went to lunch with a friend yesterday and it was wonderful.  We are doing our day after Thanksgiving nachos and movie watch in pajamas in her new house.  I'm excited for it.

This weekend I have a hair trim with a deep conditioning mask.  Hopefully the deep conditioning helps my poor bleached hair.  I love the purple, but the bleach really changed the texture of my hair.  My curls are attempting a comeback and I'm trying to help them along.  Going to see Frankenstein on Sunday and then to Mom's.  Then just puttering around the household chores.

Good luck with the extra work @levioosa and the flooding near your grandparents
@Casadena good luck with the new appt, I hope it's a good fit
@CharmedPam I'd pay whatever it took to have my own room.  Love the idea of traveling with friends and being together during the day, but I'd want that private place to re-energize.  Agree with not needing a balcony but a room with a window is nice.

It's Family Pizza Night at the kids' school.  Tomorrow we're going to a B&N in the city for a meet & greet with one of the DDs favorite authors (Reina Telgemeier) earlier in the day, and then having an outdoor movie night at one of my sisters' homes, BIL has a neat garage/projector setup.  The menu is exciting and the warm blankets are ready (it'll be around 40).  Sunday after mass we're going to visit my parents who have been feeling unwell for over a week now.  I don't know if it's age, or long Covid, or what, but they get crushed by colds now (they've tested negative for everything more serious) and I'm sad about that.  Not sure what I'll bring them yet but something comforting but fortifying.
  • @CharmedPam, everyone online kept insisting you HAVE to get a balcony room for Alaska.  But it was going to be $1600 more for that!  I just couldn't stomach that big of a difference so we kept our inside room that Harrah's gave us for "free".

It was fine!  I was glad I didn't spend the money.  That was on one of Norwegian's newer ships that was built for the Alaska run.  It had an inside upper deck with floor to ceiling windows all around it, plus the front part of that deck was built even higher and had a huge two-story window.  My H and I just hung out on that deck when we weren't doing other activities.

Of the three cruises I've taken over the last few years, I lucked out with cheap balcony rooms for the first two (including the one we took).  Alaska was the only exception.

  • @Casadena, yesterday I was on a conference call that took over 1 hour and I put my new nightstand together. Perfect time to do it, while listening to some work stuff I had no idea about anyway. I had a lot of extra parts and the sides are bowing but I did it on my own! Lol!
@short+sassy, for Alaska, we were told our ship goes through the glaciers at 5 am, so that’s why it was suggested. But my friend who smokes had to go up to the smoking deck anyway and told me the views were better from there anyway. But I did like the balcony for that one. I sailed many a time in the inside room and it’s been fine. If I can afford my own room everywhere I go, I would. But it’s usually double the cost and by sharing, I get to travel more.  The friend who I wanted to bunk with is actually a good roommate, but I didnt want to hurt anyone’s feelings.
@VarunaTT, that sleep sounds glorious. I think if you slept it, you needed it too. And ew to wanting more info. I would remain anonymous as I could as well.
@ei34 40?!? Blankets for sure! You make me want to get pizza tonight…::

  • Rooms without even a window is exactly why I won't cruise. That makes me nauseated just thinking about it.

I'm beyond ready for the weekend also. It should be a pretty quiet one here; some chores tomorrow and going to my sister's tomorrow night to celebrate my niece's birthday. Probably a hike Sunday. It's warmed up a little here and I need to be outside this weekend. 70 and sunny? Yes please.
  • I feel like the appointment went well - was easy to open up and I felt comfortable with the new person. Planning to continue for now!
