G turned 6!! We had his favorite food (cheese fries) for dinner, ice cream sandwiches, opened presents, and did NOT sing happy birthday. PRetty much his ideal evening

cramming as much as possible into my workday today so that hopefully i can do a lot of cleaning and purging tomorrow while I WFH and kids are at school. We are all off for 2 full weeks after tomorrow. still have a few gifts to buy and haven't wrapped anything. I'll get there.

Aw, happy birthday, G!

Man, yesterday was horrible. The end of the day was just the cherry on top. I hope today is better.

It's supposed to rain all next week, including Christmas. Only a bummer because we are traveling to the grandparent's house and a tradition there usually includes a walk around their pretty neighborhood. Friday I plan on being cozy with a heated blanket, a book and a candle while it storms.

Otherwise, SSDD. Debating whether or not to go to the gym, or work out from home tonight. I'm already trying to mentally prep myself for the new year when I really need to get back on my routine.

Nothing like about to be losing my health insurance to finally motivate me for doctor's appointments lol. I've always been good about my endocrinology appointments. But fell off the wagon for my annual wellness ob/gyn/pap smear visit a few years ago.

I got that done this morning. I was also able to get a mammogram scheduled for later this afternoon. It was one of the last appointments this hospital system had for this year...my insurance ends Dec 31st...so I really lucked out on that. My ob/gyn office was even able to schedule it for me after my appointment was over.

I treated myself to a McD breakfast on my way to work after my doctor visit. Apparently their breakfast combos are $9 now!?! Get outta here. But there was a special on their app for $4 ones, that included my beloved Sausage McMuffin with egg.

Happy Thursday. I can’t believe we can finally see the 10 day forecast and Christmas is in it now lol. Tonight is dinner and a musical with some friends, and tomorrow is another musical. Our charity event went without a hitch and very heart warming. The best part was the kids party at the homeless shelter. We gave them treats, toys & crafts to do and it was so great to see the joy on their faces. I learned how to set up a lot of remote control cars yesterday. Lol.

Fastfood prices in general are insane @short+sassy. I’m glad you got your year end stuff all buttoned up though!

My meeting with the new supervisor went pretty well this week. She asked what I would like to keep of my current duties and clarified her expectation for amount of time working onsite. I find myself still spicy about how everything went down. I'm doing the same work with more duties, less time at home, and a demotion in job title. Sigh... But I like my team and that makes a huge difference.

I had an eye appointment this morning and expected an updated prescription on my glasses. Found out the "start of cataracts" I had last year have now "matured" and I should plan on having them removed from both eyes. I have a consult for that at the end of January. My script did change, but with surgery, my vision may improve so much that I may only need reading glasses. So we'll hold off for now.

We found out yesterday that DH's primary physician is retiring at the end of the month. It was a blow as both of us really like him and felt he dealt with DH's diagnosis very well. I felt like he was always there to support and help. We'll be assigned to a new provider in mid-January. DH has been having shortness of breath with exertion so he has a stress echo and chest CT on Christmas Eve morning to rule out any cardiac issues. His primary will be able to follow up before he's done.

I have some final holiday prep today this weekend. I'll make caramel corn and dip some thin mints. I need to get groceries for Christmas Eve's lasagna dinner and other meals. Not too much to do since I'm doing Christmas "lite" this year and having a low-key holiday. I work Monday but am off December 23-26.

I feel so behind but am coming to terms with my efforts. It's things like just not making the things I normally make for treats and knowing that sometimes that's just fine - no one needs giant desserts anyway!

I'm kind of holding my breath on the kids' health too. They are OK but some kids in their classes are getting sick so with 3.5 days of school until Christmas counting today, I am hopeful that it doesn't go downhill.

I still have no idea for a big gift for DH and told him. Hopefully he knows I still love the guy and that he's just hard to buy for!

Thanks for all the good vibes yesterday. Dad is still in the ICU for breathing treatments and observation, they can’t keep his oxygen levels up without the meds and respiratory support so he’s there and stable.

We given everyone in my group a half day today and I’m WFH tomorrow. I should do sorting and wrapping but I might just take a nap first.

Thinking of you @charlotte989875. I'm glad they're keeping him in ICU for observation instead of med surg.

*Hugs* @MNNEBride That's a lot to go through at once.

I'm spiraling a little right now. My student loan plan has been destroyed and I'm looking at new options and I might throw up. I don't know how they expect us to live? My cost of living is so high, and you want me to pay $4300 a month for the standard plan and $1800 for the minimum? H's loans are another $1800 a month. Both individually are more than our mortgage. My full time job won't even cover the minimum payment and still allow us to save money or travel or do anything beyond the bare minimum of living. How is this okay? "Millennials are spoiled, you took it out, pay it back!" Okay, but why am I literally paying back over half a million when I took out less than half of that? I hate it here.
