Fri-yay

Wishing all a smooth day and a weekend with pockets of rest (if possible!).

Re: Fri-yay

  • How is your father feeling @charlotte989875?
    Happy belated birthday G @casadena

I took off yesterday, Mommy Claus was very behind.  I got a lot done and feel like I'm in a pretty good place.  Oldest DD has been in an anxiety flare up this week and yesterday had to come home early bc of too many panic attacks at school, so I'm pretty preoccupied with her well being at work today.

This evening and through the weekend I have a lot of baking to do.  Nothing much else happening aside from the usual things like cleaning/cooking/mass, I'd intentionally blocked the weekend off from any plans so that the kids and I could have lots of downtime.
  • Wishing everyone a nice weekend!

I hope your Dad is recovering well @charlotte989875

*Hugs* @ei34. The holidays are hard.

I am glad it's Friday. Even though I only worked 3 days this week it felt rough. SIL has also been having a week. We were supposed to go to the Light Show nearby and I called her last night after thinking about it and deciding I didn't really want to go, and she actually brought it up first and was super relieved we were on the same page. It is a little sad to miss the pretty area, but honestly I'm tired. We decided to make cookies and watch a Christmas movie instead and that sounds much more our speed right now.

But otherwise, I think 99% of Christmas shopping is done. I need to pick up one more thing for my Mom. I also need to gather my thoughts and organize for the upcoming week/weekend.

  • Fridays are my half day and I have fun plans with my friend when I get off work.

I gave her some pumpkin ice cream I didn't like.  It didn't taste bad, but it tasted more like vanilla ice cream with dark chocolate flakes and only a slight taste of pumpkin.  I am very picky when it comes to high sugar foods.  They need to be as I dub it, "Extra Insulin Worthy", lol.  Or it's not worth the hassle.

But she grows small pumpkins in her yard.  She said she was going to blend the ice cream, some extra pumpkin, and spiced rum into a boozy milkshake.  Oh!  Well, hey now.  That DOES sound "extra insulin worthy".

She is going to make her concoction and then we are going to enjoy them while we take my dog for a walk at a nearby bayou.  That way, we can pretend a short, leisurely walk makes up for the calories in the milkshake (kidding).

  • Amusing (to me) stories from my medical stuff yesterday.

My gynecologist referred to me as "underweight" in my appointment.  I'm not and think she wasn't considering how short I am.  As someone who has been (at best) chubby for most of my life, I never could have imagined a day when someone would have called me underweight even as a mistake.  MIND. BLOWN.

I didn't bother correcting her on the underweight comment because of the context.  She said I should get an osteoporosis scan because underweight women are more likely develop this condition and develop it sooner.  But I did laugh and tell her I've lost a lot of weight over the last two years and have only been at my current weight for the last six months.

With more research, it sounds like the higher risk can come from being a low weight and not necessarily underweight.  I'll ask my next gyno a year from now, more questions on this.  Because the normal age to start those bone density scans is 65.  I don't want to be starting so much earlier, if I don't have to.

Then for my mammogram, the technician was asking me a number of questions.  Including, "At what age did you start menopause?"  Assuming I was already in menopause.  What?  WHY?  I'm only 52.  Certainly possible at 52, but hardly a foregone conclusion.  I laughed and joked, "I'd have to get back to her on that because I haven't started menopause yet."  Then to add insult to injury, she was surprised when I said that.  I really, really don't think I look older than my age and people usually assume I'm younger.

She...uhhh...must have estimated my age from my birthdate and accidentally added 10 years.  You know how that can happen.  Riigghhtt?  At least that's what I'm going with, lol.

No shade at her, though.  She was fantastic and really suited for this job.  Reassuring.  Pleasant and calm tone of voice.  She was gentle and explained what she was doing, when manipulating my boobs to make sure all the tissue was being included.  Little jokes where appropriate.  For example, I was barefoot when she came to get me from the changing room.  She told me, "You should put your shoes back on, that's fine.  These floors are way too cold to be barefoot!"

  • So, the right side of my mouth isn't as easy to numb, but it's making me bite the inside of my cheek pretty badly.  I'm also lazy AF today.  I've done my tasks and some for the person I'm covering.  I think I'm finished for the day unless something pressing comes through.  Hopefully it won't, most people took the 2 days off next week that we are working.  I just am out of PTO because of my hectic year.

No big plans for the weekend.  Not a movie out that I want to see.  I've got some errands to run that I'm hoping don't make me irritable, since it's the grocery store and USPS.  I get my legs waxed on Saturday.  I've definitely been putting my body through it these last 2 weeks between teeth and now hair removal.
  • Hey I’d also love to be called under weight and wouldn’t correct it, @short+sassy. Also that pumpkin boozey shake gets a green light from me. I think some women can start reeeeal early with menopause. My mom said she was early 40’s but never had a rough go at it. Or maybe she meant peri-menopause? My sister is 48 and they’re starting a forced peri for her because she is getting a hysterectomy in March and needs to be in peri.
But I could have my info mixed up.
@levioosa, I just love when I signed up for something and then dont want to go and the other person is on the same page or just cancels altogether.
    @ei34, you’re doing a great job!
@VarunaTT, that sounds annoying. Don’t mess with my eating!

Today is actually busy at work. WTF. I did, however, still get all my wrapping done so it feels good that I did that. I’m going away this weekend but if I wasn’t, I would actually be trying to knock some of this work out.

Did you guys see the interview Kristin Cabot did? The cold play kiss camera scandal.
She makes it sound like that was the first time he had her arms around her like that. Pffft.
But also, a couple of high noons won’t make you canoodle with your boss. It’s sparkling water with maybe 1/2 oz of vodka.
