Tinsel Tuesday

So so close.  I think I am as excited to have off from work from 12/24-1/4 as I am for Christmas Eve and Day.

Hope everyone is feeling okay!

Re: Tinsel Tuesday

  • Winter break day 2 and we’ve got last minute GCs to track down, pick up cookies for Santa (I just can’t with the baking please don’t tell me I’m a bad mom) and more wrapping. H is working a few hours then taking M to the trampoline park.

I got all the stocking stuff wrapped yesterday so that feels like a big win. But I have to get things for J’s birthday too which is the day after.

    Godspeed knottie friends!
  • Im just counting down the hours until freedom for 5 glorious days. The only plans I have is for a meal with mom and seeing Batman Returns on Christmas Day.

    Have a wonderful holiday everyone.
  • Awe @ei34, even of you love hosting Christmas, it’s still a challenge if you’re sick.
Pick up ‘em cookies @charlotte989875, no judgment here

We usually get out 2 hours before a holiday the day before, so I booked a microblade appt at 3:15. We haven’t gotten the email yet to go early, but I’m doing it anyway! It takes 5-7 days to heal so I thought, why not heal over Christmas and have good brows for New Years? Then, a movie with my friend after that.

  • I'm holding my breath on kid illnesses.  It feels like nearly every year we get SOMETHING at this time so even the slightest hot cheek makes me so nervous since we host.

I spent the weekend watching Chiquita fence (won her three bouts!) and then baking.  We've got the good old pull and bake Nestle Christmas varieties, gingerbread, biscotti, peanut blossoms, pizzelles and millionaire's shortbread.  Last year I made a buche du noel and decided it was NOT happening.

The kids both decided to fence with Chiquito trying it for the first time and liking it.  It bought  me two hours of wrapping which was a SOLID dent.

    Now....I wait to breathe.
  • @charlotte989875, no shame!  I don't even have any Christmas cookies in my house, except for a bag of gingerbread men that I bought from the store.

I wish you all a Happy Holidays!  Hopefully with lots of time off and as low stress as possible.

I took a couple hours of sick time yesterday to see my therapist.  We've been virtual only for the last 18 months and usually on Saturday.  But she was only doing in-person visits this week.  The first time I'd met her in person and ironically the last session I will have with her.  It was nice and reassuring "wrapping up" session.

I went shopping after that to pick up the Christmas ham for dinner.  For Christmas, my H and I were invited to a friend's "drop by" Christmas party.  We'll probably do that for a few hours during the day and then spend the rest of the day at home.  Our neighbor friend also doesn't have any family in the area and she'll probably join us.

I'm feeling a bit down today.  It's my last full day in the office and I need to spend a few hours packing my boxes and dragging them down to my truck.  It's the packing that is really driving it home that this is "real".  I'll be in the office again on my half-day Friday after Christmas, That is my true last day.  But except for a few last minute things, I want the vast majority of my packing finished today so Friday can be as mellow as possible.

    I hope you're feeling better today @ei34

Work today and tomorrow and then I am thankfully off for Thursday and Friday. Weekend was okay. I'm hoping once Christmas passes I start to feel a little more myself. I've been thinking of my brother a lot more this month and I'm just a little sad.

I made cookies last weekend. The gingerbread cooked were *chef's kiss*. We iced cookies on Sunday but our hearts weren't truly in it so they definitely look like a bunch of seven year olds decorated. lol.

Otherwise, SSDD. A huge storm is coming and it's supposed to rain the rest of the week. There's the potential to get a month's worth of rain or more in just a few days, including on Christmas when we will be commuting. Hopefully traffic isn't terrible.
