Work is going smoothly enough.  I have some mom-gymnastics to perform later, getting the kids to various places at overlapping times.  I tapped in some mom friends to help a bit (thankful to have a village).  DD has a new counseling time now that we are back to every week for the time being, so I'm trying to get the rest of Tuesday down.  My mom kindly offered to help out too, if needed.  Phew.
  • Currently furious at my child over lies.  She's riding the struggle bus hard w/ Algebra II.  Her teacher gave her a study guide packet before Christmas vacation and we were very specific that we expected her to do it.  And then once she did it, to do it again.  Her midterm is in a week and a half and she has a D+ in the class.

    She hasn't finished the packet.

I am not only outraged that it's not done but furious that she's led us to believe she did it.   I told DH as he left for work this AM and there will be massive changes on the level of privacy she gets as she has NOT earned the right to close herself off from the house and lead me to believe what she's doing.

I get it.  She hates the class.  It's not her favorite.  And she'll likely not go into a career where this is something she'll use daily.

Yet it's still a class she signed up to take, and one that is part of her GPA calculation and on which there will be SAT questions.

Is this the worst thing?  No - but it's a greater point that she is proving herself to shirk responsibility when it's not what she wants to do and will avoid telling the truth if it suits her.  Look out kiddo you are not an equal member of this house and the parental units will be telling you the new terms.
  • @ei34 it does take a village and I'm glad you have some support.

I had a very long meeting last night. By the time I got home my back was killing me so all I wanted to do was lie down on our bed - which I did. It is still pretty tight today but I did make it to my workout session so hopefully that will help. Today is just more of the same - pulling things together for Chicago. I do have a drs. appointment this afternoon. She put me on a statin in November and I had blood work last week. The results came back good so I'm guessing she will leave things as they are. I'm on so much stuff right now I feel like I'm a walking pharmacy. Hopefully after back surgery the prescriptions will diminish!
  • Glad you have some help @ei34

Going to a late stretch yoga class tonight - love that right before bed - very relaxing. Trying to drum up motivation to start the mountain to do list I have at work. Nothing overly complicated, just a lot of items to tackle and it's daunting.

Our foundation crack was fixed last week, now waiting on a drywall person to rip out and replace gross paneling in the office (right next to the crack repair so we're just doing all the drywall together) then I can pick out carpet, trim and paint! Very anxious to get things moving, the mess is driving me up a wall.
  • Ugh @banana468 that’s so tough. How old is she again? I had zero advice but you’re doing great. Responsibilities have consequences when they’re not met- it’s a lesson we all have to learn.

Well Baby J had a reaction to the antibiotics he was on for his ear infections so that’s what caused the hives. Awesome that we now have another thing to watch out for with this kid. I swear I couldn’t make this up if I tried. Work is… fine. It’s the new year and all of my peers and teams are already overwhelmed.
  • Seems like we're all going through a lot. Hugs to everyone.

I'm back at in person work today and sad about it. I'm pretty tired still and my heart rate has been...unreliable. Not bad enough to get me to go to the ER but bad enough that I'm sure I've experienced some cardiac side effects of the COVID. Ugh. The stress in life at the state of our country and the thought of maybe starting new jobs soon is not helping either.

Otherwise, SSDD. Looking forward to getting home and hopefully sleeping well tonight.

life is full of things you don't want to do kiddo.  You can't sign up and decide it's worthless once you start.
