Prudie Day

My AM tutoring student isn't here yet (it started at 7:30 so I just don't think he's coming).  So I may as well start the Thursday post.
Hope everyone is feeling well!

Should be a busy but par for the course day at work.  The kids have drama rehearsal until 5, and it's not my turn on the car pool, so I'll have a couple hours after work to get stuff done.  Might run to the grocery store to get the weekly shop in, bc we have a busy Saturday morning.

I feel like I've been losing more hair than usual in the shower recently so I'm keeping an eye on that.
  • We have a snow day here so M is home but J’s daycare is open, so H took him! I’m trying to get some work done with M but he’s fascinated with typing on the computer so this should be an interesting day.

I’m hoping we can walk to the coffee shop in a bit to break it up and at least get through my inbox.
  • Midterms start today for Chiquita so she has two tests this morning (her 2nd should be starting around 9:45 I think) and then she's home around 12:30.  I need to bring her back for rehearsal for the school musical and then fencing.

This year the musical is a week earlier and it's just now colliding with so much.  The individual state tournament is the same day as the last day of the show.  I'm annoyed and told Chiquita if she fences then no one in my family will go.  I'm hoping her coach pulls the two seniors and jrs so it becomes a non-issue this year and we push hard for no early musicals next year for what it does to sports schedules.  Aside from that it doesn't really conflict so it's just difficult to want to do two things SO MUCH.

Chiquito has rehearsal for his own play today and scouts tonight.  It's busy busy busy!
  • It’s common as we age to lose hair @ei34 and I didn’t have any to spare! I use the script form of Minoxidil and it’s working wonders. I just looked it up and hmmm also used for high blood pressure. My readings HAVE been getting better at the doc office, didn’t even put 2 and 2 together.  The thing is, hair is growing everywhere! The sides of my face (not the hairline), to even under the corner of my eyes! My hair dresser found out I was on it and asked me if hair was growing in new places and I’m like “yes!”. One of her other clients on it, says the same thing. Hey, I’ll pluck my crows feet if it means more hair on the head!

    The weather dropped so suddenly. Brrrrr. I had JUST posted this on facebook yesterday as a “haha” ;

And guess who had her delivery sent to the wrong house? The picture they took is someone else’s porch. So I’ll give it till I get home. Maybe they’ll leave it in my porch once they see it. Oooooor test this amazon meme.  Thankfully it’s nothing weird. Hangers, toothpaste, some tops. Still pricey items.

  • Everyone was in slow motion this morning. I fell asleep on the floor in the boys room after N had an accident and suprisingly my back feels great. He's been having trouble with night time accidents lately, not sure what's going on there.

Book club for me tonight and the little dudes are excited for "boys night". For our holiday meeting, we all purchased a "blind date with a book" and our books for this month was just to read whatever you ended up with to see if those are what we all want to read for the rest of 2026. Should be a fun time.

Tomorrow night we're going to a charity basketball game fundraiser. Two local fire departments are playing each other supporting an org called Fire Buddies where fire departments partner with local kids with lifechanging medical diagnoses. Very good cause and we love our firefighter friends :)

Trying to get in for evaluation for ADHD. It's been a long time coming, i'd be genuinely shocked if I don't have it. Been a big struggle lately though and I think it's time to consider some bigger steps to manage.
  • @ei34 I'm sad to report that Nutrafol does in fact help. There are prescription options too like Minoxidil as CharmedPam said. I've been tempted to take it but would rather do the topical because the oral pill makes hair grow everywhere and I just paid a lot of money NOT to have hair everywhere. And I can't use the topical because it's super toxic to cats.

@charlotte989875 Do you have a spare keyboard you could put in front of M for him to play with?

Not too much is happening today. I have had a lot of big life changes happening and it's reminding me that I don't like change. lol. Otherwise, work and SSDD.

  • Mounjaro was approved.  I'll pick it up on Saturday and then all of my meds are in line and started.  I apparently have good health insurance, b/c all the things my NP said insurance usually doesn't cover, they have.  Yay, corporate benefits.

I've also figured out that I have to change all of my alarm sounds b/c I'm too used to them. I just turn them off and keep going.

I also seem to have lost my promotion?  There is a legal assistant that was hired a month before me that was just given the senior title.  I found out and asked my direct boss about it.  We went through my career so far and I was able to provide specific items for her questions.  She went to her boss, who said I needed to be here longer.  My boss came back to me, I told her, "No, A was hired one month before me".  My boss is now pissed.  Then I told her that my previous boss (retired) had told me that both myself and A would be getting the new promotion in March.  My boss is like, "Why did A getting it now and why aren't you also getting it?"

Well, I think I pissed off her boss, who is in charge of granting my promotion.  TL;DR: I kept getting pulled into a situation with court security as "an expert".  Fine.  I'm not an expert, but I do know the answer to what is going on.  Finally, I wrote a long, detailed, explained in basic terms, email specifying, here is the issue, here are the two possible answers with pros/cons of each, IT needs to be involved, and upper management needs to decide on X.  However, no one likes my answer.  Too.  Damn.  Bad.  This is a security issue and you're not going to find a way around it...b/c the Court closed these loopholes on purpose...for security reasons.  In the meantime, I've created a backdoor solution that literally everyone on my team is using, while the upper management sits around wondering what to do.  DO WHAT I TOLD YOU TO DO, that's the answer, there is literally NO OTHER ANSWER.  Evidence: my answer is working IRL already, it's just not officially approved or on official devices.  AND I think she's mad that I wouldn't push out my paralegal certificate out in a month to move over to paralegal when asked, when the company wouldn't meet my asks for that move.

    It's just annoying.
  • Same stuff here today. I did have a massage. It felt great while happening but afterwards I still felt knotted up. She said I was really tight today.

I have book club tonight too. We read Theo of Golden. It is a sweet, uplifting book. I haven't finished it - about 50% done. Since my glute gets so painful when I do my elliptical, I haven't been on it as much. My elliptical time is when I get a lot of reading done. For example, before this sciatic stuff I was on the elliptical 45-60 minutes. Now I'm lucky if I can get in 20 minutes. That really cuts into my reading time! I did get a lot read this afternoon without falling asleep. I have slept well the last two nights. I bought a cervical support pillow and the first two nights using it were painful (the instructions said it could take up to two weeks to get use to it). Thankfully, the last two nights were fine. I also have been using my neck stretcher so that has helped.

We are getting closer to being ready for our Chicago trip. Unfortunately the weather is getting even colder there according to DD.
