How's everyone?  Wishing all a relaxing (or action-packed, for you @CharmedPam ;) ) weekend!

This week felt so long. Weekend should be a nice enough mix of family time, friend time, errands time and down time.  Hopefully.

    WWWWD?

One of my cousins is getting married in July.  The invitation came a couple days ago.  Ceremony at 6, cocktail hour to follow, with the reception following that.  For a couple different reasons, I will be attending the ceremony and cocktail hour, but not the reception.  How should I RSVP?  I don't want to throw off their seating chart/catering, but if I rsvp'ed no and then showed up for the ceremony and cocktail hour, that would also throw them off.  Would it be annoying to her to text her and explain?
  • I would absolutely text her and let her know what your plans are. I'd hate for her to pay for your dinner, since that's usually the most expensive part, but she can make sure you're counted for cocktails. Plus, wedding it's until July, it's not really that time where she's overwhelmed with all the last minute stuff.

I'm so happy it's the weekend. It's been a week! We went to Kentucky last weekend and I ran the Derby festival half marathon. My dad always ran that one when I was a kid, so it's been on my bucket list for a while. Then I got to spend some time with my cousins and bum around the city. Louisville really is a fun city. We ended up making it a long weekend, so the short work week was kind of nuts. I got a message this morning inviting me for an interview for an internal role on Monday. Fingers crossed that I might be able to stay.

Not much going on this weekend. We have a game, but there's also a friend's birthday party so I'm thinking about letting H go alone and hanging out with my girlfriends. Also, tomorrow is derby so I'll be wearing an obnoxious hat all day.

Sending good vibes for the promotion! @Casadena

@ei34 I would definitely text her.

@MyNameIsNot all of the good vibes and fingers crossed!

Work was stressful yesterday. But it will be okay. I’m glad it’s Friday. The first week back after a couple of days off is rough. But otherwise not too much to report. Weekend is blissfully plan free minus some plan to work out and hopefully clean the house.

Action packed yeah it is! Heading out of town for a ghost conference.
@ei34, yeah I’d let the bride know of your plans, so there’s not a place setting for you. The wedding I’m going to in June also starts at 6 and I love that over afternoon weddings. Maybe I’ll get my make up done professionally during the afternoon? Or maybe I’ll learn how to apply lashes myself by then because that’s what I love most about getting it done.
    Job vibes for you @Casadena
I do like Louisville too @MyNameIsNot. Did you do 4th street live?

Work has been busy. We have assessments left for this cohort of new hires I'm training. It's good to be done, but I'll miss interacting with them daily.   After next Tuesday, I'll be mainly WFH until July, when I have my next training group.

I found out today I wasn't elected to the Board of Directors for the national organization I belong to. I'm disappointed, but I can put my name in again next year. Q 1 & 2 2026 haven't been great career-wise, but I'll keep pushing through.

I'm looking forward to the weekend. Saturday will be chores and relaxing. On Sunday, we are visiting DH's sister at her facility and taking another sister and her adult son. I'm the only one who will drive in the city, so it means I can't skip.

We have a frost warning for overnight, so I'll pull my planted pots into the garage until tomorrow. We had warmer-than-normal weather a few weeks ago, and now it's cooler than normal - spring in the Midwest!

  • I would definitely text the bride, @ei34. Walked on the treadmill at the Y this morning since it was chilly and rainy outside. It went well. This weekend I will be directing H on yard work. LOL that is the upside of a surgery where I can't bend over or twist for 10-12 weeks. Tomorrow evening my book club is having a Derby party. I have a fascinator that I bought a couple of years ago for a Derby party at the same friend's house. I haven't decided what to wear though. Weather is going to be chilly so we aren't even eating on the porch. Sunday will be church and hopefully a walk. I need to work on a photo book for the grandsons. I haven't done the one for last summer and it will be this summer before you know it.

Next weekend is the twins' First Communion so we will be in Chicago for the entire weekend. Only one twin's godparents are able to be there. DS1,DIL and DS2 are coming. DD is a bit salty about baseball having games that day - one twin and the youngest GS both have late afternoon/evening games. First Communion is in the morning. There will be a lunch following at their house. It does make for a full and busy day.

Hope the Communion was nice @ILoveBeachMusic

I texted my cousin as some of you suggested- she advised me to rsvp attending …and assured me that no one is “that” guest until two weeks before the wedding lol
  • Thanks @ei34.  I must have typed wrong. It is this coming weekend. We also found out they have 2 baseballs games that afternoon - Mass is in the morning. It will be a busy day.
