Hope everyone’s weekends were good. What a great surprise for me! Yesterday my ghost hunting friends wanted a day at a supposedly haunted cemetery and I’m never one to say no to sitting in a cemetery for 1/2 a day. I did have 6:00 tickets to see a show, so would have to be out by 4:30 to run home and change first. I was having a really good time chatting and shooting the sh*t that it was 5:00 when I got to my car. I was so tired, HUNGRY, and inappropriately dressed that I wouldn’t make it on time. I’d have to get some sh*tty seats at a discount price at a later date if I wanted to see it i guess.
Much to my surprise the theatre emailed me and thanked me for still attending the “show must go on” version. I guess enough first line people couldn’t act or make it and they had a lot of understudies go in. So they emailed me to wish me to come back for a complementary show when the full cast could go back on. It was actually a good choice to NOT go! Love how that worked out for me.

Weekend was pretty good. Kitten has her new home! I was worried my friend might not want her any more because we took her to the vet on Friday and she has a potentially lifelong autoimmune problem that might result in having to pull all of her teeth =( But my friend still wanted her and they picked her up yesterday. On Saturday I went and visited my grandparents and they were really happy to see me. And then last night (way too late, tbh) we went to see The Odyssey which was pretty good. I liked the interpretation and it had some cool moments. We tried to see it on the 70 mm IMAX but it was all sold out for 2 weeks unless we drove to LA, and no thank you to that. I am tired today because we didn't get home until after 1, and I probably fell asleep closer to two, but otherwise SSDD. I have my book club tonight and I'm looking forward to it.

  • Ooof what long day/night @levioosa. I’m glad kitty has a permanent home! She sounds cute and I’m sorry about her ailments:

Happy Monday! It's the time of year when work travel starts to catch up with me and i feel super behind in regular work AND life things. Playing catchup all week on both.

Finally making some progress on major house things. Carpet is being installed this week on our garden level and the first portion of shower walls in the primary are being installed this week as well. Which is good becuase the shower in our only other full bathroom is leaking and we can't figure out from where - don't want it to ruin all work we just did downstairs! Still need to pick out a couch/chair for the family room and barstools for the new temporary island in the kitchen.

G only has one more post-chemo follow up appointment and then he moves to a different "survivor" program. Feels wild and exciting and happy to be this close to "done" The fear of relapse will never go away 100% for me, but it's an exciting milestone to hit and i'm so proud of him.

N starts Kindergarten in 4 weeks and I am NOT READY. He's ready, totally good, 100% in. Picked out glasses last week that will help him with reading and computer work, and omg he's adorable. Big kids are super duper fun AND i'm really missing little ones this summer.

    Hope everyone is doing well!
  • So happy and excited for your boys @casadena! That’s awesome on both levels. Is the work travel done for a bit?

    SITB:

@casadena I'm so happy for you guys as G transitions to his new program.

And little kids with glasses are always so adorable.

  • So glad for y'all @Casadena. I agree that littles with glasses are adorable. Both the twins got them in the spring. They have to wear them for the classroom and TV. So far they are pretty good about it. @levioosa I'm glad kitty is in her new home.

Everything is about back to normal around here. Nana and Papa camp was mostly a success. We had a few behavior problems but overall the week was good. We had family pictures done on Saturday so the whole family was here. DS1 and DIL arrived Thursday evening, DD andSIL and DS2 arrived Friday evening. All left yesterday. Now it is really quiet. I came down with a cold on Thursday. I'm feeling better but it has really wiped me out. I tested for Covid (two friends have it - I haven't been around them though) and was negative. So it is just an annoying summer cold.

I hope you feel better! @ILoveBeachMusic. How is the air quality near you? I'm sure that's not helping if it's really bad.

The air quality is better now. Last week it was in the moderate zone so not awful. At first I thought it might be the air quality but it is just a plain old summer cold. I'm feeling better today. Thanks!
